  1. Hope you had a great holiday break. If you have time, would you mind checking any updates for my 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4 order#1121 Dealer F24523 Vin# 1FMJU2AT9FEF22033. Many Thanks as always.
  2. I'm raising the white flag re: my SD. I ordered a new Expedition last month, and hope to receive it in January. I love my SD, but it's becoming expensive to replace the consumables.
  3. I agree that is the most annoying thing with my SD. I find that it occurs to often at slow speeds,
  4. Cars and trucks are better today if you drive them- period! If you collect them, that's another story, with a different outcome.
  5. Great car with great looks. I want a Ecoboost convertible. Why did it take so long to have independent rear suspension. The Expedition has had it for ten years?
  6. I do agree that the 20's are great looking and compared to the 22's, much better. I ordered my Limited with them at first sight.
  7. The reference to emissions standards in the post is a joke in the US. I have yet to see any individual who violates the rules face prosecution by local, much less federal authorities. The cottage industry for ECU modifications and exhaust aftermarket products is alive and well. The only time I have seen an issue, is when someone returns to a dealer for service, and they refuse to pay because someone has altered their vehicle.
  8. Could you please track the info for my Bronze Fire 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4. Order #1121, Dealer: F24523 Vin# 1FMJU2AT9FEF22033. Many Thanks in advance for the work you do on behalf of everyone on this Forum.
  9. Brent crude rose today by $1.16/ barrel. At one point it was up $3.50/barrel. Standby to standby!
  10. Point well taken! I only know that my 2.0L volkswagon diesel consistently gets 49mpg on the highway with no Urea additive and I have yet to see any soot or smell from the exhaust. Not the case with my F250, though I would not try to use my car to perform the same tasks. I think most of the traveling public only care about what is advertised to them by the manufactures, namely horsepower and mpg! Personally I believe this is short sided and in deference to common sense. Use the appropriate mode of transportation for the given task at hand. What Europeans have that we in the US don't, is a better mass transit system of busses, trains, etc.
  11. Carbon emissions has nothing do with inherent efficiency. Our environment is extremely important, and vehicle emissions are a viable subject. But efficiency and longevity have proven to be the forte of diesel engines. Emission problems are also a result of to many vehicles on the road, and many that do not meet standards. While riding in your vehicle, observe how many people have altered their exhaust systems, or moreover, how many have installed aftermarket computers, to circumnavigate emission standards. No way to judge carbon footprint per vehicle, when it's a free for all.
  12. The world runs on Diesel not gas! It is obscene the price that is charged for retail delivery of Diesel fuel. Cheaper to produce and less volatile to store and obviously more efficient by a factor of 30%.
  13. Interesting that when fuel/gas prices are high, the stock market tanks. Their reasoning is the consumer is hurt by high costs. When fuel/gas prices are low, the stock market tanks. The reasoning there that oil companies have low margins, and subsequently, their retailers are hurt. Therefore, the game is rigged by the people who control the game, and we are all along for the ride!
  14. Thanks for the pic's of the Hankooks. I don't believe they made a bad choice with these tires for OE's.
  15. Even if you don't tow, this option will keep the vehicle level when utilizing all the seats. The weight with people in the 3rd row could cause this possibility.
  16. As the previous report indicated, the same model tire is not always the same when installed OEM.
  17. I ordered my 2015 Expedition 4x4 with this option after seeing a person towing a trailer on I95 with the rear end almost dragging the ground. I realize that this is totally against all common sense, and this feature is not available to prevent stupidity. However, I believe that this feature is a bargain, given the fact that net, it costs $245.
  18. I just ordered a 2015 Expedition 4x4, and saw and drove the Hankook's on a demo ride. I did not notice any abnormal noise or ride discomfort at interstate speeds. The tread looked aggressive, and the posted wear indication on the sidewall was acceptable for this weight vehicle. I agree with the MXM4 problem. I had those on a Sonata, and they did not last 35K.
  19. I like a vehicle of this type for its utility. Square means more volume, for any given wheelbase equates to more space. Also with the independent suspension, you get a better ride. The resulting space( by negating the solid axel) allows folding the rear seat into unoccupied space. I see more Tahoe's just like I used to see more Camaro's. People by adds and peer pressure, not by research and use.
  20. I believe that Ford has always been reluctant to produce a US small diesel for the F150 level truck, because the majority of their sales in this category go to high end product. General work trucks and so forth, are more price sensitive, and return less margin. The horse power wars in pickups are out of control.
  21. I read online that the 2.7L cylinder pressures are approximately 2000 psi. I believe that is what dictated the design of the block composition(graphite/aluminum). Diesel engines are somewhere in the neighborhood of 2500 psi if I recall correctly, but work at a much higher compression ratio. The lack of spark plugs and the required ignition hardware also keep the design simpler except for the emission requirements.
  22. Great info and many thanks. I believe that generally diesel powered vehicles are considered to be approximately 30% more efficient, hence contribute less to the problem of consumption, regardless of the retail price. Also, for the same size vehicle, they usually employ smaller displacement engines that also run at lower rpm to achieve their rated output. Gasoline is very volatile. Remember WWII gas powered tanks vs. German diesel powered, and the ensuing result. Having owned many diesel powered trucks, admittedly all Fords, I have found that most of the problems encountered, have been the result of the emission equipment installed on the vehicle. From my superficial observation, most people who own these trucks drive them like they are in a NASCAR event(for show), and not the way they were intended, which contributes to many of the problems encountered. I believe that Ford's turbo gas engines have proven that, driven sensibly, they can achieve very good efficiency, coupled with longevity and reliability.
  23. Everyone knows that Dodge(Ram) is junk when it comes to accessories and reliability. They rust out and the AC has not worked consistently for many years. People bought Dodge, because it was cheaper than Ford or GM. Fiat bought this whole bag to get marketing share in the US and a dealer network. This they accomplished, but have not broken the barrier of reliability with the Fiat Brand or with their car or RAM products. Long after MPG wears off, the question arises, does it last long enough to recoup my depreciation. This is a factor of time, which is not on the side of Dodge(Ram), or their car brands. I am a believer of diesel powered trucks, cars and utility vehicles. I am thankful that RAM has offer this option in their truck. I am however fed up with all manufactures penalizing consumers for using WWII technology(minus emissions), and extracting premium prices, just because the average public is not familiar with this design. It is time for the public to rebel against onerous taxes imposed against fuel and the vehicles that employ such technology. Many of the vehicles in Europe and around the world employ this technology(Turbo boost). whether it is gas or diesel, and don't have a problem. Wake up America!
