  1. It’s almost as though Ford is forecasting now that they won’t do well or far less than the 100000 a year they projected. The market is so volatile, the script got flipped on them quickly.
  2. The Evos is an ICE MACH E to me but it’s gonna be interesting to hear what kind of delays or changes are forthcoming. BOC OAC AND CUATITLAN will all be under capacity if sales remain low if and when the products launch.
  3. I can see Ford delaying them further. The plans have changed so much my skepticism is growing. 5 years and not even a camouflaged unit in sight. Just by their wording I’m anticipating some kind of change in the plan. They’ve been pretty quiet on OAC, come on Ford we need more than vague info!
  4. Thanks for this article I smell some delayed launches at OAC and BOC. If my interpretation is correct they will only launch when they believe they can be profitable?! Someone educate me on this because to me that says to me that delays are coming!
  5. Maybe failure was a bit of a strong word in regards to the Mach E. I can’t wait too see these Gen 2 platforms and products. I hope they are next level. I expect this new pick up truck and the two OAC Bevs to be unveiled sometime later this year. It’s long overdue to see these 3 new products, they’ve been in development for at least 5 years.
  6. I get what you’re saying and agree he has to sell and promote these products as best he can. I agree he’s obviously not gonna say anything stupid.
  7. I agree with you and to me it’s too expensive. Jim Farley says the Mach E is way better than the Edge. Maybe it is but the sales sure don’t reflect that. The mach e looks sharp, it’s too bad it has been a bit of a failure so far.
  8. The next gen Mach- E will be much better, it has to be!
  9. I agree that exporting the Nautilus was the plan because of the reasons you stated. The Bronco Sport Maverick plant is maxed out and the other plant is EV so I don’t know where in Mexico they would build that. Other people in this chart have said Louisville as an option. Is the 7 seat BEV not a replacement for the Edge? Or was the Mach-E supposed to be the successor?
  10. Jim Farley is saying how great the second generation EVs are gonna be so in addition to the next generation Mach E and all the other upcoming products I expect them to be vastly improved over the current products.
  11. I don’t see how it improves either hence the reason I’m skeptical.
  12. All I’m saying is that currently the Edge isn’t part of the plan for North America by the looks of things. They cancelled it here I’ve heard nothing about them importing any Edge from China of any sort.
  13. It would have but that’s not the reality and i can only hope that the BEV plan doesn’t turn out to be a disaster at OAC.
  14. Wouldn’t they have done that already?? Edge isn’t part of the plant it seems.
  15. That’s the thing, I hear alot of people say exactly what you’re saying. They say in regards to EV not for now, they’re too expensive and charging infrastructure not adequate and they’re gonna wait. I will not even consider and EV in the near term at all. Cost and these other factor we mentioned are the reason. Your Bronco sounds like it’s gonna last along time. I’m regards to Bronco Sport I can see Ford making that offering soon in regards to PHEV.
  16. Also range anxiety and infrastructure to add to the good points you made.
  17. I really hope this situation turns around because as someone who is gonna have to be building BEVs in a year I can’t help but feel some skepticism. I know it’s early but I have every right to be concerned. Do I think EV will fail in the long run, no. All these governments pumping billions of dollars into this won’t allow it to fail in the long run. These sales figures are just garbage how does Ford improve this situation. Ford would rather import so I doubt that we will ever see any edge or nautilus built in N/A again. Mexico was also supposed to build what Oakville is getting, their projections were way off. If you ask me OAC should get the next generation Mach E as it’s GE2 as well. It seems as though ford will be under capacity right now sales wise with these EVs. Am I wrong?
  18. Mach-E sales are absolutely DISMAL. If this trend continues I wonder if Ford will cut a shift at Cuatitlan. I really hope EV sales rebound sometime in the very near future.
  19. We did a massive retool of this plant in 2014/15 of the Edge since then we have only had mid cycle refreshes. I agree with Akirby on his assessment. I suppose retooling Oakville to continue on Edge and Nautilus just wasn’t feasible.
  20. We shall see if Farleys genius plan to remove this COMMODITY plays out in the long run! They could’ve carried on with an Edge/Nautilus Hybrid at OAC. They chose to move forward with the future, if Ford didn’t do anything with forward thinking people would say they’re moving too slow. All I can say is I’m hoping for the best!
  21. Yup it sure does look like the Chinese Explorer.
