  1. Yep, I agree. I thought that was the worst part of the Rangers interior. On the bronco, the switch gear is great, nice big buttons and knobs, but the plastic area around the knobs looks worse then the ranger. Maybe it’s part of some utilitarian design and it fits in better when we see the whole picture.
  2. Looking at this bit of the interior, it almost seems like the buttons were an after thought. Let’s look at some of ford’s recent interiors. here is the new f150 interior. The bronco is sharing the same buttons as this. Notice how well they are integrated into the center stack. There’s even some concave areas around the top buttons that give it some depth. Explorer edge All of these interiors seem to incorporate all the controls for the radio/AC pretty well into the design. Then you get to this new bronco pic and also the ranger. The controls in both of these seem like it’s just an after thought to me. It’s like someone said, “here, use these buttons, but don’t make it cost a lot,” so they just slapped them on a flat black piece of plastic. I was hoping it would have been incorporated a bit better. The same exact buttons look much better in the f150.
  3. Any idea on the size? The larger one definitely looks like it fits better.
  4. yeah I kinda agree. It’d be cool if this was the sport, and then they renamed ST to SVT.
  5. I wonder where the came up with using the word “Line?” Hyundai also has N-Line which is essentially the same thing.
  6. I actually kinda like it, although my opinion could change when we can see the real headlights and how they flow with the design. It kinda reminds me of a snake.
  7. I think this would be a huge hit on the explorer. The st is the best looking explorer and if this was an option, I would have probably bought it over the xlt.
  8. The escape se awd has a base msrp of $28,870. So you are thinking that the lowest level sport is going to start at $33-34k? That’s ridiculous. That’s basically the starting price for the real bronco.

  10. https://www.autoblog.com/2020/05/26/ford-debuts-2020-edge-st-line-250-horsepower/ I’m glad to see the st line starting to make their way over to the USA. Hopefully ford will apply it to more vehicles.
  11. But it IS just an escape. I wouldn’t be surprised if ford uses the same AWD setup that the escape has too. Again, it all depends on what comes standard. From what we have seen of the interior, it looked cheaper then the escapes (although it did appear that it was using the IP from the explorer, so that could be a plus, unless it’s replacing the full digital ip and then it would be a negative). we know it’s using the same engines, and most of the interior is the same (to be fair, there are reports that it will have better materials, but then again I’ve heard the same for the escape too) I believe someone said even the tires were the same. If you want to charge a premium, then have premium content, not just a premium name.
  12. And what I’m arguing is escape, plus 2WD cheaper sport, plus 4wd sport would be more profitable then just escape and 4wd sport.
  13. I guess it really depends on how you view the bronco sport. ford probably thinks it will bring in this new untapped group of customers. I think it’s just going to get customers back who would have bought an escape but were put off by its styling.
  14. It’s only premium in ford’s eyes. Your average consumer is going to look at it as just another escape. So far, the interior and the 1.3L engine don’t scream premium to me. Maybe there’s some really cool stuff we don’t know about yet that really separates it, but as of now, I’m just not seeing it.
  15. It would be interesting to see the sales figures of 4x4 vs 2WD in the compact cuv market. I tried searching but couldn’t find anything. There are a ton of 4x4 trucks around me, just not very many cuv/suvs.
  16. do women want a feminine vehicle? I’d say the jury is still out on that one. The majority of Jeep Wrangler drivers I see are women. Same for Tahoe’s, expeditions, or really any suv. I’d guess that the sport would be the biggest seller if it was offered in 2WD and at the same price point as the escape. This is might be an unpopular opinion, but I think the bronco branding actually hurts the sport. To be named bronco means that it now has to live up to the bronco name, so they added standard 4x4. A good portion of the country doesn’t need 4x4 and the added price that comes with it. I think that a lot of people considering the sport are people who just want something that looks different from the escape. This segment is still very price conscious so the added price will hurt its sales. Just removing the 4x4 would significantly lower the price. Ford wouldn’t lose much profit by doing this since the vehicle would be cheaper to make, but the lower price would allow them to sell more. Also, has anyone been over to the bronco sport forum lately? It’s literally a ghost town. edit: I think most of it’s competitors over at Jeep offer a 2WD version.
  17. I think it’s a current gen. Besides the paint and wheels, I can’t tel any difference.
  18. The skateboard platform should make that even easier, with much more differentiation between vehicles since there would be less restrictions on design (ie designing around an engine or transmission). You could literally put a new top hat on and go. i think rivian already patented a modular bed.
  19. I think the story is coming from an Australian site, so we will probably be a bit behind whatever they are saying since ROW gets the new ranger first.
  20. this is still a pretty sweet ride if you ask me. I would have considered one if the interior had been updated.
  21. https://www.motor1.com/news/424683/2022-ford-ranger-rumors/ Rendering from the article Older renderings I thought these were some interesting tidbits from the article. ”the pickup would get a brand new plug-in hybrid powertrain, which hasn’t been installed in any Ford product to date. It will use a 2.3-liter turbocharged engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and supported by an electric motor for a combined output of 362 horsepower (270 kilowatts) and 502 pound-feet (680 Newton-meters) of torque. The powertrain will be different from Ford’s 3.0- and 2.5-liter PHEV systems found in the new Explorer and Escape.” ”On the tech front, expect the new Ranger to get Ford’s SYNC4 infotainment system with a 12.8-inch vertical display on the center console and a wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It’ll be joined by another 10.25-inch screen, which will be positioned ahead of the driver’s sight - a layout that’s very similar to the interior of the Mustang Mach-E.” I like what I have seen of the bronco and bronco sport so far, but this new Ranger is sounding like a real winner too. It’s interior sounds like it will be much better than either of the broncos or any other truck in its class for that matter, and the front end design is really growing on me. Looks like I might have to wait until 2023 to decide what vehicle I want to buy next lol.

  23. I guess this is at MAP? With this being set up, I’d assume a reveal would be pretty soon.
  24. Meanwhile, GM is already teasing the new hummer with this pic.
