  1. This is why it sales decreased so much. Even though it has the new grille, isnt it basically the same as the old mkx? Once it gets a full redesign, I think you will see it do better, especially if it gets aviator looks. It would be the sweet spot on size, not too big, not too small.
  2. why doesn’t ford just get rid of base models altogether? Besides the XL trucks, I can’t think of any reason you’d want to buy the base model. They aren’t that much cheaper than the next trim up, they look like crap, and they have zero options. I can’t remember the last time I’ve even seen a base model that wasn’t a fleet vehicle of some kind. Dealers around me don’t even stock them. I wonder how much money ford would save just from simplifying the building process by not offering base models (would not have to produce all of those additional parts like all the black plastic trim base models have, or interior parts that are of lesser quality, or The 4” screen instead of the 8”, etc). if they skipped the base model, I imagine it would also help ford build the image of quality products, which would then allow for the higher prices they have been aiming for.
  3. Wasn’t alto blue listed as a color for the bronco or bronco sport? Anyway, it’s also a new color on the fusion. Here it is
  4. 2.0 is fine. I actually really enjoy it in my current escape. I had wrongly assumed the sport would be fwd standard since it was getting the 1.5. I thought the escape was only available in awd with the 2.0, but I checked today and sure enough you can build an awd 1.5L escape. Has anyone driven that combination in the new escape? I wonder how it is? I guess it doesn’t matter though, I’d get the 2.0 anyways.
  5. Ford SUVs were only down 11% but escape was down 20%. That alone shows there is a problem. id also like to see a breakdown by model year of the escape. I’m sure there were quite a few 19’s being sold with big rebates during that quarter too.
  6. That vignale looks much better then what we get here.
  7. Is there a reason she needs it this week? Maybe the lease is expiring on the edge? My advice would be to wait. You will have many more options in a year or two. Bronco, bronco sport, redesigned edge, and hopefully sooner rather than later a face lifted escape. I looked at an edge when we were buying my wife a new car but The interior just felt too old for me. It’s still using the same my ford touch screens that my 2013 fusion did. We opted for an xlt explorer and she really likes it (except for the recalls lol). with that said, if your wife likes the look of the escape or edge, just go with it.
  8. The roof looks solid all the way across on the profile view so I don’t think the roof will come off. Also, the antenna is pretty far back on the roof, so I don’t think the back will come off either. I think what you might be seeing are the panels of the lift gate where they meet the roof.
  9. Maybe there’s a large opening on the front of the roof that requires more than normal support on the back? Just guessing
  10. I actually like everything but the wheels. Below are two Jeep renegade wheels that are almost identical to the two wheels we have seen on the bronco sport. I wish ford would quit copying Jeep and go down it’s own path. Besides that though, the profile of the vehicle looks really good.
  11. I think this is the badlands trim. The order guide mentioned it had color bumpers. Looks pretty good. Also, looking at the original pic a bit more, it looks like there is a slight bump up starting halfway through the rear doors. Could this be part of the roof conversion that was mentioned? Maybe it’s just an optical illusion?
  12. https://www.broncosportforum.com/forum/threads/2021-bronco-sport-spotted-again-next-to-explorer.1043/ this gives us a better look of what it will look like with the colored bumpers. I think there’s video at the link too.
  13. it’s probably the Mach e gt. All of the vehicles that have the orange line are connected to the same vehicle but different trim.
  14. One thing to note, it looks like the options that leaked were a part of the badlands package. Other packages could come with more/different options.
  15. but then we wouldn’t have anything to talk about ?
  16. you are kind of proving my point though. The Jeep renegade is perfectly acceptable being a “cute ute” based off of a fiat because it has its own name. If it was named wrangler sport, it would have had much higher standards to live up to.
  17. I’d say half the problem is people don’t understand what this vehicle is competing with. You had mentioned the Jeep Compass and Subaru cross trek. Another one you hear all the time is the Jeep renegade. Since the BS is sharing a platform with the escape, I’d assume it will be larger than any of those and it’s more likely that it’s a Jeep cherokee competitor. then there is price. You are right, we have no idea what the price is. But there’s been speculation that it will sell at a premium over the escape for a while now. Here’s the starting prices of its competitors: escape - $24,885 cherokee - $25,934 Rav4 - $25,950 crv - $25,050 Cx5 - $25,190 I believe it needs to start around this range to be competitive. I also think naming it Bronco is part of the problem too. Now it has to live up to the bronco name. I’d say that’s a tough thing to do in this market. If it was called Maverick and was never mentioned in the same name as bronco, you probably wouldn’t see the same reactions.
  18. I had a rental escape with it and I didn’t care for it one bit. It was loud with lots of vibration. Even the nicest vehicle will feel inferior with a loud engine. Just on refinement alone, there’s a night and day difference between my 2017 escape with a 2.0 and the 2020 with 1.5.
  19. Both of those vehicles start at 22k. The escape starts at almost $25k. I’d imagine the bronco sport will start around $27k. If the BS started at 22k I’d expect it to have a smaller engine.
  20. I believe if your AC is on max, it won’t activate. There are a few other conditions that it won’t turn on for either, I just don’t remember what they are.
  21. That would be cool, but I don’t see ford doing that on this vehicle. The wording that was used in the order guide was roof conversion, low opening. I could see it being some sort of roof cargo system, maybe like the xterra (storage compartment was on the lower part of the roof, maybe that’s what they mean by lower opening). I’d say it’s a long shot, but maybe it’s something like this:
  22. Im glad you are optimistic about it. Ford hasn’t done anything to show me that this will be anything but an escape with a different top hat. Putting the bronco name on it and still offering a 3 cyl makes me think this is just a money grab. I really hope you are right and I am wrong though. I will be in the market soon for a vehicle this size, and this is my only option left from ford.
