Ford Recall Troubles
Bob Rosadini replied to Bob Rosadini's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Well Sooner I hear you on BMS..I had that problem on my Lincoln. I'll try it. But for kicks I just went out to start it. When i pulled into garage last night and shut it off, no battery message. And interior lights and dash lights on when i got out of truck. Just now open door , no interior lights or dash lights start, then I shut off-get "battery shutting down" message. Open door, dash dead and no interior lights. stay tuned. -
So on Seeking Alpha yesterday a report from "The Street" pops up highlighting Fords ongoing recall issues. In reading it and these issues are five in number covering 11,910 vehicles, ranging from 2 vehicles to 10, 627. All are system issues related to software. Not good, but nothing to do with a mechanical defect. But it makes good press. Good news as I see it, when Mr Farley tries to get recall issues under control this should draw his attention to one unit in his organization or so it seems. Which brings me to my '23 F-150. Love the truck, but since it was new, I'm always confronted with some surprise. Example without me touching anything, at times when I shut it off Ill get a message saying "shutting down to save battery" and everything goes blank. Then when I get in truck, no interior lights or dash lights until I turn key. Other times, I'll open door and I have those lights. Then i'll be parked and as I approach it recognizes i'm close and lights come on. But not always. This an STX XL..plain Jane with a key. Do I take it to dealer? I guess I should before it leaves me stranded. And I never leave the key fob in it unless I'm at home with a spare fob close by as I fear one of these times it will lock doors on its own. In any case, back to my Seeking Alpha post, how many people see the "Ford has more recalls" without opening article to get the facts???

Hmn..would be nice if they gave the chassis weight of all three options. -
Also guys, I read recently of another bottom up venture that was putting their power train into an existing class 8...photo I saw was a Freightliner Cascadia-which is probably the sales leader when it comes to class 8 tractors. Anyone familiar with this?

Ok 7M, I'll bite😎 .....Govt regulation ? And inability to anticipate future regulation? And you could add CARB with its sway over the industry? .....DEI? Now in decline but how many positions have been filled based on that objective vs best person for the job? .....Influence of the media or should I say the financial press? ..

Hah..No that was when the founder (Trevor Milton) was busted for fraudulent activity and ended up with a 4yr sentence. He did promotional work in which they did videos of what was a running class 8 truck going down the road. the fact? It had no motive power and was pushed down an incline. I think there was a lot more going related to hyping the stock.

Nikola filed for Chapter 11. Guess this is good news for Tesla from a competitive viewpoint.

7m-page one has nothing but deletions..they continue to make 650/750 as basic as they can. I sent a note to my source regarding upcoming work truck show but nothing but crickets. Ford again I think has the biggest available exhibit space. Plenty of room to showcase Transits and displays of the wonders of Ford Connect.😎 -

I would agree with your point that most of the class 4-5 market is not "payload sensitive". For one thing, I don't think law enforcement-at least around here -pays attention to the local delivery or service industry. When does it matter? if you are grossly overloaded and you are involved in an accident..then you are under the microscope. And in any case, a lot of these operators will take their chances. The exception? IMO the typical "bulk hauler"- typically dump trucks. And again here in Mass. it is not the locals but the State PD truck unit that will at times set up scales on exit routes from an asphalt plant, quarry, gravel operation etc. And there are a lot of contractor dumps that operate around here that have 25,999 plates. But their specs are class 7. So save the FET and "load it up"! My bet is most of the F-750's in dealer stock are derated to 26,000, same as a 650 but they have big rubber, springs etc. -

Amazing to me, thinking old school and cubic inches, a 352/360 was adequate in a 250 while today a 6.8-414 cubes is standard. And the 7.3-445 cubes has I believe more HP/Torque than the old Super Duty 477 that was the middle engine in a T-950 tandem! I guess driver expectations sure have changed-to saying nothing of climbing a grade with a 5 speed box and a 4 speed auxiliary behind it😎 -

Joe, Back in the "day" the single axle F-750's, C-800 dodges etc would have one car on the tractor racks. Today when they use "Stingers" -which don't have a fifth wheel but a low frame hitch of some sort-don't know proper name, but the truck has two on the overhead rack and one on the frame plus I think at least 5 if not 6 on the trailer..depending on car size I guess.
