  1. 3 week holiday shutdown? No wonder unions get a bad rap for not getting work done.
  2. I just got notice that my 450 pickup was built and is ready for shipping. So you guys at the plant are still getting it done!
  3. Well, I ordered a 450 Platinum in Star White in March. I only had a few common add-ons like FX4, heater, accessory switches. I cancelled adaptive steering in August. Yet I've seen a bunch of trucks exactly like this that were ordered within the last few months - even after I cancelled the adaptive steering. I've had 8 build dates starting in July, so Ford must have believed they had everything they've need at least a few times. No conspiracy theory here... I know Ford is F'd up.
  4. My 450 Platinum was scheduled for Nov 13, but I saw the same screen as you middle of last week. My window sticker was also available. Ordered March 31
  5. If you had a 1991 Civic, I'd say go for it. But, well, you didn't mention you had that, so I'll say pass.
  6. I understand that the Carhart covers that Ford offers are open on the sides of the front seats, but I haven't seen them. Undoubtedly, that's to not inhibit side airbag deployment. As much as I like those covers, I don't want to add any delay to side airbag deployment. I know people will disagree that there is a delay, but even a millisecond is significant.
  7. I just found out my date was pushed again. Ordered 3/31. VIN received in May. First target week July 19 July 26 August 8 September 21 September 13 (yes, in that order) October 25 Adaptive steering deleted in August November 8 November 13
  8. When I first started test-driving '20 and '21 Ford trucks the first thing that came to mind is that they simply felt like newer 1990 interiors. I haven't been in a Ford truck in decades. Yet, they just still had that vintage feel, albeit with modern - ahem, plain black colors (Platinum). The Marsella reminded me of that damned burgundy from the late 80s or early 90s. Way back in the 80s/90s, I used to do a lot of car audio work. Those Fords used to make us laugh. Brand new trucks with trash hidden inside. Handfuls of screws left stashed in the interior, either under compartments, carpet, sill plates, etc., while many screws would be missing (holes not drilled or had self-tappers run in them). And lots of one-shot, un-reusable clips (though not by design, but by quality). And then there was the horrible wiring and connectors. Though their low quality was easily matched by GM back then. This upcoming truck will be my first Ford. Based on the service so far, I'm already starting to regret it, and I don't even have it yet! If Ram had a modern transmission behind the Cummins, I wouldn't have hesitated to go back to a Ram.
  9. I'm still waiting on my '22 F450 Platinum. But quite honesly, I prefer the interior of my old 2006 Ram (except for the wear). In my opinion, Ford and Chevy interiors have always sucked compared to Ram. So many of my friends tell me I'll regret the "upgrade."
  10. Unfortunately, from what I've seen, this is standard operating procedure. Good luck finding a shop that will install that for $260. From the installation instructions I've seen, it seems rather labor intensive for what it is. Won't you still have to go back to the dealer to pick up the winch?
  11. Around the holidays, in my area, UPS, FedEx, and Amazon have passed the final delivery off to a third-party individual. Literally, an individual person driving their personal vehicle. The challenge is, when they do this, they mark it in the tracking system as delivered, even though it hasn't actually been delivered. This nearly got me raising hell a couple times, because I was working in my front yard when I got the notifications the item was delivered, yet no delivery person came by.
  12. As far as I know, nothing uses Alcoa branded wheels. I'm guessing you're referring to the cheap Chinese knock-offs for the F450.
  13. I would never run Amsoil products. I know some background information on another auto manufacturer's transmission fluids. For two different transmissions, they offer two different fluids. Of course, they'd rather offer just one, but they determined that the differences were significant enough to require different fluids. Using the wrong flud definitely affects performance. Amsoil has one listing that covers both applications. After seeing that, I call BS on all Amsoil claims.
  14. I'm betting on #3. Sadly, it happens a lot before covid, so it's probably more common now.
  15. I saw this mentioned in the scheduling notes: "Plant scheduling is previewing full for orders not already previewing as selected for scheduling on Thursday. Allocation for orders not previewing/selected will roll over to next week's scheduling. " What does this translate to in English?
  16. As some commodities come in, others run out... it seems never ending.
  17. It does work! I was able to find my truck rolling down the assembly line.
  18. Or those vehicles that had a VIN assigned and seven or so scheduled dates that Ford apparently has no idea what to do with or seemingly no intention of building. There's no rhyme or reason to a lot of what Ford does.
  19. Imagine how those of us who ordered in March and know nothing feel. I have a camper showing up in November that I won't know what to do with, since I can't really use it with my curent truck. This was my first and probably last experience with Ford.
  20. Whenever you have a differential regeared, it's standard practice to inspect the gears and replace the fluid 500-1000 miles afterward. Why should it be any different on new vehicle? I usually replace the rear dif fluid at 1k-2k miles and it usually looks worse than subsequent 30k fluid replacements.
  21. Good luck. I ordered a F450 Platinum March 31, and probably like you, I've had a bunch of build dates. After one that said Oct 25 a month ago, I had my dealer cancel AS. Unfortunately, the system never reflected the cancellation, so they got the rep involved and cancelled in last Thursday. I'm hoping it gets schedule this week. I think they'll be scheduling for the build week of October 18.
  22. Thanks. They confirmed, but I question their competence, as there have been other situations that appear they're lacking in that area. Unfortunately, these things couldn't be determined until we got into this situation. I just need to mentally detach myself from expecting to get a new truck this year, and should probably just cancel my order and wait for something else to come along. This has been my first experience with Ford, and it hasn't been a good one.
  23. Did your VIN and/or order number change? I recall 2wd having a different VIN sequence than 4wd.
