  1. (Wrote this earlier but did not hit submit) Yes stays connected but you can unplug it at any time. ( not while driving of course) When you plug it back in just go on to your smartphone reconnect it and click which setting you want. Really impressed with this because it gives you the throttle responsiveness in Drive but it goes back to stock when you put the truck in reverse. I also like the fact that if something happens to the box everything automatically revert back to stock configuration without having to unhook or unplug the peddle monster. I have 35 inch tires on the truck now and the 4.30 gearing this makes the truck feel pretty darn Peppy. I have learned when in two wheel drive and you're in the mud dirt or gravel you turn it off because even in the lowest setting on City mode level 3 the truck spins and breaks loose inching past idle.....
  2. So I'm just following up on a other post I did about the 7.3 stainless works Cat-Back Redline exhaust. To start out, the old exhaust system came off in three pieces without cutting. It took me about an hour to take it off. I was moving slow, back was hurting this week. To get the tailpipe out you have to jack up the frame to give a little more clearance between the rear end and the frame. I put a floor jack under the hitch and lifted it up about 5 in and tailpipe slid right out. The stainless Works exhaust came in one big heavy honking box but it was packaged pretty well everything was protected. Every piece... pipes, mufflers, bolts, hangers, and nuts is stainless steel. Pretty thick stainless, I was expecting some cheaper lighter gauge stuff but it's pretty robust. The y-pipe has a built-in resonator and the Mufflers are 100% stainless and you can see that it is definitely hand TIG welded. Pretty good TIG welds, did not see a lot of undercut and no blowouts. It was supposed to be an exact fit but it was not...after putting it together and sliding all pipes forward as possible the system was 2.5" too long. Took a few pieces back apart and threw the tube in the cold cut saw. Put it back together and snugged it down.... Sounds great. At first rhought it had more of an old thrush glass pack sound. But my friend made multiple rpm passes down the road when I stood by and watched....then I fell in love with the sound... Deep throaty sound...very deep and quiet at idle...at wot she screams...reminds me of a FM 30 series muffler on an older bigblock. Skip to 2:30 for sound.
  3. To all, It's all good though? guys get tired, getting home from work, rough day in the yard , whatever.. tries to do a little searching can't find exactly what he's looking for or is just trying to figure out how the Forum really works... then just say "f" it and asks. ( I have been guilty of that myself) Another receiver question comes up next week I'm happy to answer it.... look at it this way, instead of people just doing a search for a question to find and answer it's a way for them to ask a question get a conversation started. In reality what the hell is even needed for any forum? the research is out there if you dig hard enough... this is just a way to make it faster and easier and (kinda) hang out and talk to people with a similar interest. I have not been on this forum for years, I have only been here for months. Even if I see the same question four or five times I am more than willing to help answer questions, post charts or pictures that will help out the next guy because there are many of you here that have done that for me and it helped make my truck buying experience awesome. Get your grumpy old heads out of the mud, pull your bifocals up, slide a beer across the table and talk to the man about his truck.... don't be that a****** car salesman that makes a truck buying experience miserable.... Help out, give advice, make them feel welcome.?? ????
  4. I kept them on pretty much because I'm lazy and the truck never goes anywhere... and it's cold out???( and with the more confusion I get from people when driving the more I'm liking these. But the people that have seen it can't even pronounce it and have no clue what it is anyways.... Droughnought Dreadnoucht Dreadnoot Some ask "what is that?" Me: DREADNOUGHT What does that mean IT WAS A CLASS OF NAVY SHIPS...AND MEANS ONE THAT FEARS NOTHING.. is it a special edition truck like the king ranch... NO..JUST SOMETHING I DID... ( and then I get some sort of comment variation of this 5 out of 10 times) That 7.3 diesels a good motor. That diesel sound good. You can get 500k miles out of that motor... Truck guys know what that is. It's just a (KINDA) homemade badge and they know what the engine is. it's the random people walking up that are just curious that are hilarious. And people at stop lights have looked at it and stare for a few minutes trying to figure it out.
  5. I'm in NC also.... You can try my trick.... roll the front windows down pull the fuse. There is no law saying it has to have front door windows. "Welllllll, ? windows got broken out and I just never replaced them"???
  6. It took them 12 years to finally decide it was cheaper to replace then have to deal with a class action lawsuit.....geesh!?
  7. What does diesel exhaust fluid have as a base? Is it a petroleum or an alcohol base or a water-based? I need to Google this because now I'm curious on how it works. My last diesel was a 6.5 Detroit and the only issue I had was an optical sensor that prevented you from running off road diesel...... that was only a problem for about 2 weeks?
  8. When I went and ordered my truck I tried to get the 3" receiver hitch.... Until..... I started looking at availability and pricing for those hitches... If you just drag something around with 2 or 2 5/16 it's not bad. But once you start buying 3 and 4 hitches that money adds up quick. I like having dedicated stuff I don't like having to swap things around from truck to truck the truck. Why do that I always forget s*** then end up not having it on the truck that I need it on. So for the new truck I had to have a 2.5 hitch with a 2-inch ball, a 2 and 5/16 ball (I bought the curt one that flips over) A 2.5 pintle hitch And a 2.5 hitch for load distribution for the camper. Then the goose ball That's 4 hitches that stay on this truck and never leave. I've used the reducer sleeves and don't like them. I found out in life anytime you have to use adapters it's never a good thing.. it's either sloppy or it wears out or you break stuff or whatever. 3" hitches you can order.... but I could not find 1 3" hitch between Advanced O'Reilly's AutoZone or Northern Tool in stock.
  9. Are you guys all blind?????? I could/CAN see fine driving a 60/70s/80s/90s and 2000s truck and the halogen headlights of today are far superior from those of the past years. I've never driven a car/truck with LED headlights.... only trucks with LED light bars for "off road" or whenever? It must be one of those things that you don't miss until you have had it.......like beer!?
  10. I have not been pulled over in a long time but I've always had tinted windows and I figured the best way for a police officer NOT TO mess with me is this... If it's at night all the windows in the car go down, the interior lights go on before my car comes to a complete stop. If it's in the daytime I may not put the interior lights on but all the windows come down so he/she can see in. One hand on the wheel the other holding my license on my door frame... I figured the more at ease the officer is when you comes to my window the smoother the transaction goes from there on out. If I was a cop and I walked up to somebody that had dark tinted windows all rolled up and couldn't see in, my hand will be on my pistol as I'm walking up..... May not work with every traffic stop but it sure can't hurt.
  11. Blow smoke. What? Huh?... oh you're on the wrong Forum....those are the Dodges that blow lots of smoke...? Scroll through the internet.... you will find Dodge truck forums somewhere between the junkyard ads, Prius forums and automatic mullet hair cutting systems...yeppers!?
  12. What kind of maintenance is involved with this d e f system? I haven't Googled how it works? Does it siphon DeF into some kind of muffler or does it pump in? Are there filters, I'm curious on how that system works, is there a regular maintenance involved with that part of the system or is it kind of like the rear axle you check it at long distance intervals
  13. Nopers that is what I meant....not in sales volume but in general consensus of mindset from guys with diesels.... I have already head this about 10 times from various neighbor, coworkers, friends ect.. "If you have a f350 why wouldn't you get the diesel, it has more power" ..... then I give my reasons. The general consensus is the diesel is the Big Boy's toy a Gasser is the lesser!
  14. Never liked the LED headlights on vehicles (well, the ones headed in my direction at night)? They are blinding! On lowbeams on a empty truck they are bad enough....put a load in that same truck bed and the lowbeams become highbeams to oncoming traffic...then there are the actual highbeams from a LED....? When I would courtesy flash someone to let them know their high beams were on and then they flashed back with even MORE LED TORTURE (or didn't flash back) I would let them know what their lights felt like..... In these housings I ran Cessna landing gear lights... on the front IR military housings (par36 14v 200w spots 10hr lifespan) On the top KC housings (par56 450 watt 24v spots, 20hr life span) (yep 24v 2 batteries in toolbox, with isolating disconnecting relay and a sep charging 12v relay, and high draw winch relay to power lights) You could feel the heat off these from 15 ft away... Anyway... You hit me with your misaligned leds...I burn your retinas with landing gear lights!??
  15. Will be watching this thread. Will be interesting to see what is needed for the "beast" engines to keep them happy. I can't offer any input as I fall into the lesser gasser group. For our maintenance, the list we us is this.... 1. Air filter (when dirty) 2. Engine oil (10,000 /- miles) 3......well....yeah that's about it.
  16. Good thing you found it...?. I get too many beeping, chiming, complaining, screaming notifications from truck, GPS, phones, and wife and kids while driving. Makes me enjoy my trips in my 22 year old truck with just me and the dog back into the woods......silence other than big block exhaust rumble?
  17. The more computerized and proprietary our trucks get the more issues we're going to have. I know why we are going to brake/tail modules, trailer brake module, ect ect...rather than straight 12v switch to load. Let's send a 5v signal to a module that sends 5v to a relay that activates a 12v circuit. That way they can add more options and integrate (whatever option/system)into truck for it to migrate into other systems... it is amazing how far the technology has come in even the most basic of vehicles. Some of me misses the days of when brake light came right from the brake light switch to the brake light, and every trailer brake out there no matter if it was on a Ford Dodge Chevy or Toyota....was 12v in and 12v out to the plug... when it went bad you cut 4-6 wires threw it away and tied 4-6 wires back in. Those days are gone forever...
  18. Paying cash from the money I made as a male hooker and my mad skills as an amateur stock broker.... (I can't say either one without laughing....) If I did that for a living I would be broke and homeless...???
  19. That is awesome..but @ $135,000(+/- total cost)I am safe to say I will NEVER be able to own one. The only thing to make that the world's most ultimate truck would be send it off to Alpine Armoring and have the windows, doors, underside ect ect bulletproofed....maybe a sgmt mount on the bars... The jsoc cats would be handing pictures of your truck to command and begging!????
  20. Ohhhh..."false!" Not worth the effort? To you maybe...to him it IS worth your effort? You have plenty of time...come on dude be a team player, for what you get paid here you should do this....ummm...wait..oh...never mind? Personally I would rather the moderator spend their time proofreading and get my punctuation and spelling corrected for me.... Akirby...the BOFGoogle bot!? Just kidding.. I'm just in a joking mood tonight. In all seriousness, look at it this way. If somebody gets true information here and acts on it, they will find that the information they got was true and it helped them. If somebody here received false information and acts on that when dealing with Ford or the dealership then they will find out real quick that the information they got was false, and then, no harm no foul. ( other than when they walk out the door of the dealership the sales team at the dealership rolls their eyes and say "another guy that got his info from the INTERNET!") But with all the confusion I've seen on here from people posting with what their dealers have told them or what they heard from Ford customer service, it seems like even when you walk in the dealership WITH THE CORRECT INFO, if the dealer doesn't think it's right then they still roll their eyes at you as you walk out the door.?
  21. So wasn't even a sensor? all they did was reset the computer?..... Great for them not great for you... Hit the reset button and run usually just means the problem will come back and the next guy along has to either fix it or hit the reset button.
  22. I use my 19 f350 for work... hauling heavy loads and maxing out the cargo from day one. I don't know what ford expects people to do that buy the truck for work, take it out for a 1000 mile joy ride before they use it. ( maybe the 1,000-mile break in period is more of a suggestion then a rule)? Also is it possible the break-in. Is more for getting people used to driving their trucks so home owner Joe doesn't go out and buy his first truck and drive straight to camper sales in by his first camper, and then decide to take it on a 500 Mile Road Trip with trailer Towing experience? Maybe a little bit of both break in and getting used to the truck
  23. Possibly, but you sure don't have the best of luck?. I'm with bshort... hopefully just a sensor or something they can knock out real quick.
