I did go Star White. ..it's in my sig. Too bad no BAP for Platinum SDs, just 150 Platinum SDs. Maybe if my order gets bumped to MY23 there will be a BAP option. ?
-
LOL ... That's my favorite. Plain bright white, tinted windows, and BAP would be my first choice. I like the Storm Trooper look but it isn't available on the Platinum ?

Invoice Cost of Retractable Tonneau Cover?
Monoman replied to ChuckDiesel's topic in F-Series SuperDuty Forum
The Ford retractable cover looks like a Retrax. They make two models that have the rails for crossbars, etc. One is polycarbonate and the other is aluminum. They are currently about $1,500 and $2,000 respectively. What is interesting to me is that the Retrax site says "ships in 5 days". If the Ford is a Retrax and is causing delays then maybe the issue is labor and not the parts. -

Limited comes with AS. Is your dealer telling you that Ford is not making any more Limited SDs or that only Limited will come with AS? If there really is a constraint on parts for AS then we should see a notice from from Ford. -
I agree for consumers but for not necessarily or business owners. I live in hurricane alley (South FL) and I can tell you that they don't put up with price gouging after storms. I too am surprised nobody had taken a shot at the dealerships. Most are pricing at MSRP in my area.

I see you are into the finer things in life!
-
No but I'm sure if we don't go to some fancy foo foo place where we have to tip everyone that looks at us then we can get a fair price. ?
-
I'm not but rather than go back & forth here we can save it for another day .. over a beer/bourbon. :-)
-
Really? I don't think I said they don't deserve any profit. That would be silly. People gotta eat.
-
I don't know and I don't care. Their prices are public for all to see and at MSRP or below. Those stores openly compete for business. They don't try to get some customers to pay more than others, they don't try to price gouge when there is a real or artificial shortage. Cars are higher priced items so it makes sense that the margin percentage is lower. I'm not sure what point you are trying to make but there is a reason why lots of people dread the car buying process but have no issue going to Best Buy to get a new TV. I think, in general, most dealership owners make pretty darn good money. They definitely take a big risk and should expect to get a big reward. IMHO customers would prefer a better car buying experience than they have had in the past. My local Toyota dealership is great to deal. They have lots of repeat customers and some will drive past multiple other dealers just for the hassle free experience in sales AND service. I don't know of another dealership in my area with a similar reputation.

I'm sorry but the BEVs have nothing to do with their outdated sales model. Direct sales, open pricing, and enforcing MSRP is best for all in the long run.
-
I don't disagree with that but how much actual work are they really doing for me if someone goes to ford.com and creates a build sheet for exactly what they want? I agree that the more effort they put into a sale or value added for the customer (test drives, answering questions, etc) then they need to get more in return.
-
Exactly! I was leaning towards a glitch in the Ford matrix since the simplest explanation usually suffices. .... .plus what you said. ?
-
A glitch in the Ford matrix or their projections determined they cannot take any more orders with those options for MY22. Only time will tell.

Fly up and drive back. Fly up on a Friday morning and get there noonish. Sign the paperwork and then start driving. The drive is about just shy of 1,500 miles and about 22 hours on Google maps. If I push the pace I can be back by Sunday night. The flight is less than a $150 plus two nights of hotels, fuel, etc. so is going to be under $1,000 unless I go for fancy hotels and meals. That is a small dent in the amount I am saving by not paying MSRP plus I get to break in a new truck driving through a good portion of the country I have not seen yet. If the timing is right then the Mrs. might come along and we will take our time coming back and make a vacation out of it. If Iowa is too far for you, PA is only about 1,200 miles. ;-)

2022 Super Duty Orders & Discussion

I'm giving you a thumbs up but clearly some of the blame can be placed on some dealerships. Combining lazy dealerships with uninformed customers is a recipe for confusion. Ford isn't really making it easy but most manufacturers aren't either. Life goes on. -
Not that I know of. All the ones I checked in WPB area were MSRP for COVP orders and Essential in Stuart wanted MSRP + $3K for COVP. I originally had an order in with Mullinax because they were the closest to me. When I discovered Granger's pricing i discussed it with Mullinax to see if they were willing to adjust their price considering my trade, etc. They would not come down one bit so I cancelled my order right after I got the confirmation from Ford for my order with Granger. Had I known about the PA dealer doing similar COVP pricing I may have gone with them just because it is a bit closer. Clearly these dealers charging MSRP don't need or want the extra money.

That should discourage dealerships unless their profit is greater than Ford's actual penalties. Edit: I just noticed n the COVP text - "One violation will result in the dealership being excluded from the Retail Order Prioritization program moving forward" -

Not if it meant sitting in a dealership for hours. I prefer the sellers compete publicly by advertising their actual prices. Typically I will look for whatever the best no-haggle price I can get through memberships (Credit union, USAA, clubs, etc). My time and aggravation is not worth playing sales games. -
@IUEC135ELEVATOR all good points. I guess it boils down to personalities. Some like to research and some like to ask. In the end it is all good. Now about that beer...

Preach on.... I'm new here and I definitely agree. This morning I see at least 3 posts on one page asking about receiver size. I know when I first joined and started reading through the long threads I noticed the same questions being asked repeatedly. I also noticed the same misinformation being corrected by the mods and regulars. I guess some folks are too lazy to spend some time searching and reading.

It will be interesting to see if there is really anything the manufacturers can do about it. I am sure it will depend on their franchise contracts. Some may say these markups are just the free market in action but I am not a fan. -

The truck looks great. I have noticed quite a few folks swapping the stock valance for the Tremor valance. I just may have to do that when I get mine. -

These dealerships probably have much lower overhead based on location, facilities, etc. and have priced themselves accordingly. From one of the forums elsewhere for Granger. The biggest hit I am taking is not having a trade in unless I change my mind and drive both ways. When I talked to my local dealer and told them I had invoice pricing but I would prefer to buy local with the trade in they still would not budge from MSRP and much higher dealership fees. The local dealership was almost $5,000 above invoice which was too much for me. 1 - Our documentation fee is $180. 2 - There are NO mandatory add ons. 3 - There is a Non-Refundable $1000 deposit due at order. 4 - We will get you an electronic signature document with options, pricing, and details for your signature before placing the order. 5 - We do not participate in courtesy deliveries to other dealerships. Even at invoice plenty of people would still be traveling to these dealerships to save money and not get jerked around. I have found only one dealer in my area like that and they sell Toyota only.
