  1. Exactly! I was leaning towards a glitch in the Ford matrix since the simplest explanation usually suffices. .... .plus what you said. ?
  2. A glitch in the Ford matrix or their projections determined they cannot take any more orders with those options for MY22. Only time will tell.
  3. Fly up and drive back. Fly up on a Friday morning and get there noonish. Sign the paperwork and then start driving. The drive is about just shy of 1,500 miles and about 22 hours on Google maps. If I push the pace I can be back by Sunday night. The flight is less than a $150 plus two nights of hotels, fuel, etc. so is going to be under $1,000 unless I go for fancy hotels and meals. That is a small dent in the amount I am saving by not paying MSRP plus I get to break in a new truck driving through a good portion of the country I have not seen yet. If the timing is right then the Mrs. might come along and we will take our time coming back and make a vacation out of it. If Iowa is too far for you, PA is only about 1,200 miles. ;-)
  4. I'm giving you a thumbs up but clearly some of the blame can be placed on some dealerships. Combining lazy dealerships with uninformed customers is a recipe for confusion. Ford isn't really making it easy but most manufacturers aren't either. Life goes on.
  5. Not that I know of. All the ones I checked in WPB area were MSRP for COVP orders and Essential in Stuart wanted MSRP + $3K for COVP. I originally had an order in with Mullinax because they were the closest to me. When I discovered Granger's pricing i discussed it with Mullinax to see if they were willing to adjust their price considering my trade, etc. They would not come down one bit so I cancelled my order right after I got the confirmation from Ford for my order with Granger. Had I known about the PA dealer doing similar COVP pricing I may have gone with them just because it is a bit closer. Clearly these dealers charging MSRP don't need or want the extra money.
  6. That should discourage dealerships unless their profit is greater than Ford's actual penalties. Edit: I just noticed n the COVP text - "One violation will result in the dealership being excluded from the Retail Order Prioritization program moving forward"
  7. Not if it meant sitting in a dealership for hours. I prefer the sellers compete publicly by advertising their actual prices. Typically I will look for whatever the best no-haggle price I can get through memberships (Credit union, USAA, clubs, etc). My time and aggravation is not worth playing sales games.
  8. @IUEC135ELEVATOR all good points. I guess it boils down to personalities. Some like to research and some like to ask. In the end it is all good. Now about that beer...
  9. Preach on.... I'm new here and I definitely agree. This morning I see at least 3 posts on one page asking about receiver size. I know when I first joined and started reading through the long threads I noticed the same questions being asked repeatedly. I also noticed the same misinformation being corrected by the mods and regulars. I guess some folks are too lazy to spend some time searching and reading.
  10. It will be interesting to see if there is really anything the manufacturers can do about it. I am sure it will depend on their franchise contracts. Some may say these markups are just the free market in action but I am not a fan.
  11. The truck looks great. I have noticed quite a few folks swapping the stock valance for the Tremor valance. I just may have to do that when I get mine.
  12. These dealerships probably have much lower overhead based on location, facilities, etc. and have priced themselves accordingly. From one of the forums elsewhere for Granger. The biggest hit I am taking is not having a trade in unless I change my mind and drive both ways. When I talked to my local dealer and told them I had invoice pricing but I would prefer to buy local with the trade in they still would not budge from MSRP and much higher dealership fees. The local dealership was almost $5,000 above invoice which was too much for me. 1 - Our documentation fee is $180. 2 - There are NO mandatory add ons. 3 - There is a Non-Refundable $1000 deposit due at order. 4 - We will get you an electronic signature document with options, pricing, and details for your signature before placing the order. 5 - We do not participate in courtesy deliveries to other dealerships. Even at invoice plenty of people would still be traveling to these dealerships to save money and not get jerked around. I have found only one dealer in my area like that and they sell Toyota only.
  13. How so? Pre Covid buying for less than invoice was possible. Now we have dealers charging MSRP or higher for custom retail orders and price gouging vehicles they have in stock. IMHO these few dealers offering below invoice pricing realize custom retail orders are not labor intensive and worth the smaller margin and are shooting for higher volume. These customers are not taking hours to sell them a vehicle, test drives, etc etc. They know what they want and just want a decent price.
  14. Yep. I'm not sure if linking to other forum sites is allowed but you can search for Granger and Chapman on some other popular Ford forums, like ford-trucks. Granger does 2% below invoice on retail custom orders and I think Chapman is doing 4% below invoice.
  15. There are multiple dealerships on various forums selling below invoice on retail orders. Plenty of folks are willing to make the drive ..... I know I will be.
  16. If you do not have an order confirmation email from Ford then I suspect they have been jerking you around. If you do have an order confirmation then your dealer should be able to get you more information and/or get the area Ford rep involved.
  17. I say don't worry about what other people like. Get what you want. :-) FWIW - Either color looks great to me.
  18. I have thought about the same thing. I'm not Ford but one would think that they factor in being able to produce Limited trim lines. I even considered going with the Limited just to be sure but I decided against it because I believe it will mean I have to pay the new pricing.
  19. That's too bad. If you can wait and have the patience do a COVP order. if you are willing to travel get it from one of the dealers selling below invoice then do that and apply the savings toward your mods. FWIW - I was bored and playing around in the Ford website comparing Platinum and a Lariat with BAP. If you wanted to create your own "Blatinum" you would replace the following Wheels (Black) Side view mirrors caps (Black) Grille insert (Black) Grille logo - it looks like it is black. Fender vents - https://oemautoart.com/collections/super-duty-exterior-products/products/17-custom-ford-f-series-super-duty-f-350-king-ranch-stx-platinum-limited-custom-fender-vent-emblem-set-flat-black?variant=31312551215202 Door handles (Color keyed) Headlights - It is hard to tell from the pics if they are actually different. Running boards - I think I would vinyl cover or paint the auto deploy versions that come with the Platinum. Tailgate - Another vinyl cover or paint option. Tailgate logo - it is hard to tell if the logo is black. If someone is good at identifying the Ford part numbers for that last you would have it pretty much covered.
  20. What do you mean by balanced out? Have all of the 2021MY Super Duty trucks sold? If so, then that would help the chip supplies on the 2022MY Super Duty trucks being built.
  21. Subscribed. I really wished BAP was an option on the Platinum trim line. You may be able to find some folks that are willing to part out BAP components. Just like you, there may be people with the BAP that are doing some mods. Keep an eye out for the wheels and running boards if you really like them. You can probably order some of the parts from Ford. Vinyl wrap the grill maybe.
  22. First off, thank you for all of your contributions to these forums. Ford (and the other manufacturers) know that many (maybe most) dealers use dishonest sales tactics. The manufacturers choose to look the other way so it continues. If the manufacturers wanted to stop it they could take steps to virtually eliminate the behavior. Fortunately there are some dealers that do honest work and build a good reputation good enough to attract customers near and far. I tried order my truck through local dealers but they all wanted MSRP or higher so I ordered out of state. Thanks again for your work here.
