2022 Super Duty Orders & Discussion
Monoman replied to mrmallerd's topic in F-Series SuperDuty Forum
Excessive and not even close to normal. The fact that you cannot get any real assistance from the dealer or Ford shows just how broken the dealership sales model is for some. Getting past the Ford zone/regional manager seems like an impossible thing. There should be a clear escalation path and process to get your situation resolved. If you cannot get the dealership owner (principal?) directly involved then I would avoid doing business with them again. -

You can probably look them on on Ford's site for your dealer's inventory. Your salesperson should be able to get you the VINs to confirm. Don't be surprised if the window stickers indicates they are retail orders. -

190 days? ... Take a look around. There are plenty of folks waiting a lot longer. The lower trim levels seem to be shipping sooner which makes sense because they have less parts. When I ordered (and confirmed) on December 6th I never thought I would be waiting this long. Back then wait times were up to 6 months so I figured ok June/July at the latest. Well it is now October and I still don't have a VIN and if I don't get a VIN by October 20th, when the MY23 order bank opens up, then I will have to order MY23 ASAP. Even if I order a MY23 on 10/20 I don't think Ford is going to ship higher trim lines right away because quite a few MY23 features state "available Spring 2023". If that happens then it will be about 18 months from my original order. I am not sure I can wait 18 months. Ford (as well as all auto makers) are trying to deal with supply chain issues but there are parts of their system are clearly broken. Dealerships are clueless and there is no clear communication on how customer orders are truly prioritized, selected, built, and delivered. Customer orders are definitely not "first come, first served" even after dealing with constraints. Good luck and be patient .. .or not ;-) -
Great video on the 23 SD by TFL truck

Easy mistake since SuperCrew and SuperCab are used in the 150. Super Cab is used in the Super Duty. As far as the hitch goes, I think they were showing it was not a 3". I would like to know what color that truck is since it looks different than the gray on the Ford site. Maybe it was just the lighting. -

IIRC the MY23 order banks open in 3 weeks. It sure would be nice to have AT LEAST ONE WEEK to review the MY23 full specs/brochure before being forced order a MY23 on short notice because Ford is not going to build my MY22. Telling MY22 order holders after the MY23 banks open just puts them further back in line. My other concern is that some of the new features won't be available until Spring 2023 which adds to the delays. FWIW - I do like the MY23 but do I want to wait until April? No, I ordered in December 2021 so I can tow an RV we're getting in December 2022 ... never expecting it a year would not be long enough. It would be nice if Ford was up front with customers and said "This is what we can build you for 2022. Otherwise, you gotta wait." I'd probably order whatever I can get by December AND order a 2023. </venting> -

or a liar ..maybe both. How could they move your order to a 2023 when the orders don't open until October 20th? This forum and others are full of posts about dealer lies, misinformation, 1/2 truths .etc. I would take my money elsewhere. -

Sure but there seems to be quite a few things that won't be available until "Spring 2023". That is going to suck for folks that get skipped for MY22 and are hoping to get something early in '23. -

Which I posted about in this thread just 9 posts above theirs asking the question. I even included key parts of the text. I don't think people even try to search anymore. I blame social media...people ask the same questions over and over because SM makes it so hard to find previous posts. -

@ice-capades updated the Production Information thread - Looks like some trucks are going to having missing or alternate badging. I'll probably like having fewer badges. We don't need not stinking badging! INFORMATION Product Offering Changes: 22MY F150 & Super Duty Temporary Exterior Vehicle Badges ACTION REQUESTED Please be advised of certain 2022MY F-150 and Super Duty trucks being shipped with temporary and/or missing exterior badges due to a supplier shortage. Customers will be required to sign an acknowledgement letter, notifying them of the temporary and/or missing badges prior to vehicle sale. SUMMARY Due to a supplier shortage of exterior vehicle badges, some 22MY F-150 and Super Duty vehicles will be shipped and can be sold to customers with temporary or missing badges. Temporary/missing badges will not impact the vehicle performance in a functional capacity. Some vehicles may have temporary fender vent badges, or missing side door badges and/or tailgate badges. Not all trucks will have the same number of temporary badges and/or missing badges. All temporary badges will be molded in color black. F150 - Temporary F-150 badges could include both side fender nameplate/trim badges (e.g., F-150/XLT). Missing badges could include both door powertrain badges (e.g., PowerBoost), XLT Texas/Oklahoma badge and/or EcoBoost badge on tailgate, and/or King Ranch badge on tailgate. Super Duty - Temporary Super Duty badges could include both side fender nameplate/trim badges (e.g.,F-250/Lariat). Missing badges could include both door powertrain badges (e.g.,6.7L Power Stroke), and/or King Ranch badge on tailgate. Ford plans to restore all missing badging for all impacted 22MY F-150 and Super Duty customers. Customers will be required to sign an acknowledgement letter, notifying them of the temporary or missing badges prior to vehicle sale. Customers will be given a $50 VIN specific incentive claimed through SmartVincent. < --- snip --- > -

Good for you. Assuming it was your actions that got you a VIN, it really is sad that Ford still hasn't been able to properly adjust their systems to deal with the situation. Ford relies too much on the dealers ... many that seem to be lazy, incompetent, greedy, or some combination. -

I don't know if it is the few or the many but this crap is why dealerships as we know them may follow in the path of the Dodo bird. -

I sincerely hope Ford figures out which 2022MY Super Duty orders they will not be able to build before the 2023MY order bank opens up so those customers have a chance to be first in line. I'm not sure it is easy to explain what i mean. IIRC the 2023MY order bank opens mid October. If Ford can't build my 2022MY SD I would like to know before the 20223My order bank opens up. I don't want to find out in November or December that I have to place a 2023MY and now I'm behind a bunch of orders that were already put in. -

I have no doubt there are some dealers deliberately playing games with the customers that placed orders that causes the customers to walk away. The dealer then adds fees and/or accessories to jack up the price. The reality is there are not enough deterrents to stop this kind of stuff from happening. -

Over a year? That smells of dealership tom foolery or incompetence. Did you ever get a confirmation email and a copy of the VVR? -

Something is not right and I think it may be your dealer. I would ask for a copy of the complete order history to verify the order was entered correctly. There are plenty of posts on here where dealers entered orders incorrectly. -

You definitely have some items on yours that have very limited availability. It's not impossible to get your truck built but it definitely reduces your chances. Good luck. -

They can't build what they don't have parts for. What are your build specs? I'm just over 7 months for a CCSB Platinum 6.7 4x4. Dropped AS, 5th wheel prep, and spray in bedliner, and tonneau. -

Agreed but there are probably thousands of vehicles at priority 02. Maybe thousands of vehicles per trim line at priority 02. -
The dealer will just use it as another reason to increase their selling price.

This showed up in my YouTube feed today. It is pretty cool to see how things are built.
