  1. Just in case anyone was still thinking of swapping out their headlights for something that at least looks similar to the Mondeo lights that the Fusion didn't get, I found these guys that do a retrofit which looks similar to those and is a plug and play set. They also have the 2015 style headlights that the mustang got but for the Fusion. What do you guys think? http://www.thelightingfirm.net/shop/2g-ford-fusion-mondeo-style-led-drl-oem-headlights
  2. Just wondering if anyone on here has tried using a fingerprint resistant screen protector for the MFT screen on the new Fusions. I know the screen is a fingerprint magnet and I'm thinking of just buying one of those antiglare/anti-fingerprint sheets and cutting it to size but wanted to see if anyone has already done it with results.
  3. So I was at the LA auto show and one of the Fusions there had the Red Brick interior. I know a couple of people have asked in the past but I figured I'd post a couple that I took. Sorry for the bad quality btw, my phone camera is horrible. It's not as tomato-ey as I first thought it was, but I still wouldn't choose it.
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5FFO97rQZs Saw this when browsing through Fusion videos on Youtube and thought it was pretty cool. It's also from my dealer so I guess I need to watch out if this is around me :eek5:
  5. Energi and EV owners! One more day until National Plug In Day (#NPID2013):https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=582993895081757&set=a.165499530164531.32894.152792554768562&type=1 Do you have a Plug-in? then you should go. What to know more about EVs and PHEVs?, then you should go. Are you going?
  6. **I started to put this in the Fusion subforum, but since these units are used in multiple vehicles, I decided to place it here** Yesterday, when i arrived at my son's babysitter after picking my daughter at school, I noticed a sharp pain as soon as I opened my drivers side door from inside the car. I looked and my finger was bleeding like crazy. A little investigation found that the chrome coating on my Fusion's interior door handle had peeled up on the top of the handle, creating a razor-like edge. When I slid my hand over the handle after it was open, it sliced a quarter-sized crescent into the top of my middle finger. The cut extends from under my last joint all the way up to the top of my nail. I called our dealer's service dept manager, who said that he did not believe this would be covered under any sort of warranty (I'm on a Ford ESP right now; my Fusion has 60k on the clock so bumper-to-bumper is long gone). Has anybody else had this problem with this particular unit? I know these handles were used in Fusion/Milan/MKZ and Edge/MKX. Pic attached... a little blurry, but you can see the appearance of wrinkling where the edge has lifted the furthest. I know that GM had to recall some SUVs because of a similar issue, but I wasn't able to find anything else about this happening in a Ford. http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/daily-news/100609-NHTSA-Investigates-GM-s-Finger-slicing-Door-Handles/
  7. I posted this on the Ford Fusion Energi Forum as well: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1293-fuellycom-adds-the-fusion-energi-to-their-database/ but thought I would let everyone here know too: I have been talking with Fuelly.com and finally got them to add and separate the Fusion Energi as a car/engine type. So if you are using in Fuelly to track your fill-ups, you can now set it to the correct car type. And if not, go and do NOTE: Fuelly is not tracking power use so this only tracks the gas used to the miles traveled. They may do something with MPGe in the future. Lots of thanks to Fuelly for listening and responding. http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/fusion%20energi/2013
  8. Installed the Illuminated Door Sill Panels from Ford Accessories today. Total install time was just over an hour. Standard disclaimer - I'm not responsible for whatever you do to your car as a result of these instructions Ford's instructions are pretty good, but there are a couple places where I differed from them. Most notably, I used squeeze connectors from Radio Shack instead of soldering the wires. These are much easier (IMO) and at $2.50/pack you can't go wrong. Tools Needed: 10mm socket/wrench, pliers, razor knife, plastic putty knife, splice connectors (see pic below, for 18-22 gauge wire), zip ties (included) Splice Connectors: The steps below correspond to the steps in the Ford instructions. Changes I made are in bold with an asterisk * 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. I'd like to meet the SOB at Ford that decided to bury this under the cowl, but it is what it is. You want to do this any time you're working with electronics, and there's so many airbags in this car I just feel safer. 2-5. Start pulling panels as shown in instruction manual. They come up pretty easily and the clips are pretty well spaced. In step 5 you'll have to give the Xmas tree peg at the base of that panel a pretty good tug *6*. I didn't remove the A pillar completely. Just pull it straight out (towards the steering wheel) and let it sit there. You'll see why later. 7-10. Repeat on passenger side. Note that you don't need to remove the passenger side A-pillar Completed passenger side disassembly: 11. Be very careful here. Remove the overhead panel. The corner clips that it warns you about are incredibly fragile, especially in the back. I'll probably end up having to put some glue in there because I think I broke a tiny piece of one. This is the hardest panel to remove - what I ended up doing was getting the front loose first and then slowly working my way back but I couldn't seem to avoid a big tug that finally got it free Try not to separate the two pieces like I did here: 12. Remove the main harness connector. This is what you'll be connecting to. I also removed the secondary connector on the side to completely remove the panel and set it aside 13. The cable runs to the left edge of the headlinerpanel and loops back to the center, glued the whole way. Just work your finger under it and eventually it will come up so you can fish it back behind the headliner. 14. You're going to want to cut the black wrap back as far as you can 15/16. There are two gray-violet wires. Make sure you get the one that's in the position marked in the guide. This is where I used the squeeze connectors. There are two channels in them. One goes all the way through, so this is the one that you slip over the wire in the car. The second only goes part way, so run the wire from the sill kit into this end. Make sure both wires are centered in their channels, then squeeze the connector shut with your pliers. Both wires should be in place. Once I tested them I wrapped them in electrical tape. The second wire from the bottom (the gray/violet one between the violet and yellow-green) is the one you want to connect the red lead to, the black wire is on the top (black to black): Both wires connected: Connect the negative battery cable here and test to make sure the lights go on. Then, you can fish the harness back into place, reconnect it (after disconnecting the negative battery cable again), and put the overhead panel back into place 19. I just ran the wire down the inside of the A-pillar. There's no need to zip tie it in and this saves you from struggling to get the pegs on the A-pillar out (they're stubborn). You'll have to force the wire in between the weather stripping and the base of the A-pillar with the plastic putty knife. Wire run so far: As soon as you run wires through a point, you can start putting panels back in as directed in the instructions 21. I had to pull off the center console trim pieces on both sides to fish the wire through. For zip ties, make sure you run them around the steel frame behind the knee airbag, not the airbag itself. Zip tie location (cut the excess off): 22. I pulled a carpet peg out near the door and ran the light cable through there, then used the same peg to anchor it back in place. Final cable run on driver side: Now you're just replacing panels. As you replace them, they tend to go over the weatherstripping. I use a plastic putty knife to fix the weather stripping and force it back over the panels where it belongs. I'll post more pictures of the final result later once I get a chance to go out at night
  9. Can someone please tell me what bulbs I need to order from TRS to replace my low beams and fogs?
  10. I want to play a DVD in the vehicle for my kids during a long trip. Reading the users manual it appears it can be done while stopped but not while driving. I understand the safety concern but I'm not planning to watch finding memo for the 20th time anyway. Does anyone know how to jailbreak this to allow DVD's to be played?
  11. Item Affected: STEERING Date Announced: 6/4/2013 Description of Recall: Ford is recalling certain model year 2013 Fusion vehicles manufactured April 19, 2013, through April 23, 2013. The steering gears may be missing an internal retaining clip. If the clip is missing, components inside the steering gear may become dislodged inside the gear assembly. Action Needed To Fix It: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in mid-June 2013. Ford's recall number is 13S06. Owners may contact the Ford customer relationship center at 1-866-436-7332. Find your local Ford Dealer.
  12. What changes, additions, deletions would you suggest to Ford for future Ford Fusion? Include the version (Gas, Hybrid or Energi) and trim level (if applicable).
  13. My wife works in the office of a Ford Dealership which allows us access to the Ford D-plan so we were thinking getting a couple new vehicles. Each of our situations are a little different. With her Leasing maybe makes more sense as she is the type of person who gets bored with a vehicle. She would like to look at either an Edge or a Fusion. My situation I am not sure if I should Lease or Buy and if I lease I would very much consider buying at the end of my lease. Part of the reason I am considering Lease is if I don't like the MyFord/Lincoln Touch I wouldn't be permantly stuck with it. I am looking at the MKZ, but definetly need to test it first I haven't driven anything yet. With her D-Plan it would lower the lease payments, but if I'm buying it later the residual Value will be unchanged. With the current MKZ I fear they are making the residual value a little high to encourage leases. I may not mind dropping the car at the end of the lease, but if I do this than I strongly considering the THX system as sound is somewhat important to me. I've heard mixed reviews of the audio system, but as I have gotten older sound isn't as important as it once was, but still fairly important. Anyway my main inquiries are should we test-drive act now? OR should wait off a couple monhs for the 2014's? I've heard one rumor, though I cannot seem to find it again, that the 2014 Fusion was coming at a lower pricepoint than 2013. I have not heard anything about the 2014 MKZ which somewhat scares me if the price were to increase. Any advice is appreciated.
  14. Posted this a couple weeks back on another forum and got no response. Car was a week old and I gave it a wash after getting home from work. Noticed it making this noise and can't say I've heard it since. I'll have had the car one month at the end of this week. http://youtu.be/Toi_v9YL9yw
  15. If sharing is caring, the folks at Ford care about the Fusion Energi. They started caring by sharing the same powertrain that motivates the C-MAX Energi: a 2.0L Atkinson-cycle I-4 that makes 141 hp @ 6000 rpm and 129 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4000 rpm. Matched with a 35 kW, 47 hp permanent magnet AC synchronous motor, system output is 188 hp with a peak of 195 in charge depletion mode. It also shares the eCVT transmission, regenerative braking and front-wheel drive configuration of the C-MAX models. Read more here. 16. Has anyone thought of buying the Ford Dynamic LEDs used on the new Mondeo in Europe and installing them on the Fusion? I wonder if that is possible and there isn't any need for wire conversions.
  17. Has anyone had problems with the radio on MyFord Touch where it will not stay on the surround option. Every time I turn the car off and then back on the radio defaults back to the stereo option.
  18. I have had my new fusion titanium for about 4 months now and today I just noticed a deep dent in the roof. The dent is in the corner of the moonroof where the glass and seal meet with the body. There seems to be a slight dimple or indentation in the roof of each corner of the moonroof, however, one corner has an extremely deep indentation. Does anyone else have these indentations on the roof?
  19. Let me start off with saying, Hi. I've trolled the forum for years but now I need some legitimate help. My biggest issue is Ford Canada's lack of Energi sales support up here. In late 2009 I bought my 2010 Fusion Hybrid. I loved that car but when I had an opportunity to buy the Energi, I jumped at it. I sold my car to a friend and ordered a 2013 Fusion Energi and this is where my troubles began. First off, Ford.ca is useless to build and price a 2013 Fusion Energi; you still can't build and price, it's still not available. I actually found a bug in the website that installed the 800A options package when you picked Titanium Hybrid and chose one option and deleted another. End result of that gave me a broken image of the car but a price at least. They since fixed the bug so now there is no way to package an Energi together. My salesman, however, had issues too trying to build me one from his system. But he did, which brings me to the main question of this post... I was only allowed to pick from 3 colours (Black, White, Silver) for my Fusion. Does this sound right to anyone? Any Canadian Energi customers here have the same issues? Can any non-Canadian's offer any insight? Are there any other differences between the Canadian and US Energi (other than speedo )? Also, to be contrary to questioning and to add to the story, days later when I was fixing up some paperwork with Ford, the sales manager comes out and tells me he can't order 2013s, he can only get 2014s now. Which is funny in retrospect, since as of today a Canadian still can't build and price a 2013 Energi at Ford.ca. Though at first I was just happy I would get a brand new year. Days later, I had an epiphany and Googled 2014 Fusion Energi and found all the recent info on new features, colours, etc. FML. This Canadian desperately wants to get a 2014 Fusion Energi PHEV Titanium, having sold his perfectly good 2010 for one and has to wait "up to 6 months" for a new one (I assume Ford Canada hasn't gotten their ordering guides yet). Any insights and guidance would be greatly appreciated from anyone!
  20. I ordered a 2013 Fusion Hybrid Titanium on 4/8/13. It will have a grey exterior with navigation and premium floor mats. I hope to get my DORA today as promised by the dealer. I will use the tracking tools provided in this forum to keep me posted on the process of building and delivering a car. This will make the wait bearable and interesting. Thanks to everyone who posted about the buying process.
  21. I checked the manual and read that recommended fuel octane is 87 for the fusion. Dumb question: does that include the hybrid? When I entered my VIN in ETIS and expanded the list of options on the right hand side of the screen, it reads 91 octane, which is premium. Can you guys clarify this for me? Posting this same thread in fordfusionhybridforums.com in case you see it there. Thanks!
  22. Hi CyberDMan, Thank you for your service. Please provide a visibility report (with CTTX) for the following: 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid Titanium White Platinum VIN: 3FA6P0RUXDR281733 (built 3/27) Dealer: F16201 (Lawrencevile, NJ) Order No: T030 (ordered 2/6) MyFusion
  23. www.evgonetwork.com I found this interesting. This group has been planting their commercial charging stations at the Walgreen's stored in the DFW area for a while now. Even though I knew the name, I did not know the extent to what they offer. With a residential subscription you can get a Level 2 charger installed with service and maintenance with a 3-year subscription at $59/month. That comes to $2124 over three years which isn't as affordable as those who can do some of the install work themselves. But for some this may be an affordable way into 240v charging at home. They have a "Complete" Plan for $89/month which includes the same plus unlimited charging on your home station during off-peak hours and unlimited charging at their commercial and public sites. Still more than I think I would pay since I think I'll do fine with Level 1 charging. What I found more interesting are their multi-family/workplace plans. For $69/month with 1 year subscription they will install a dedicated charging dock for you at your workplace, service and maintain it AND rebate your employer for the electricity used. Here is the workplace process: eVgo and the property representative agree on the best location for EV parking spaces. A licensed electrician determines the requirements for delivering power to those spaces and documents them in a plan that details costs and timing for installation. eVgo and property management begin promoting the building as REV-Certified. As soon as the first employee request for EV charging is received, installation of the EV infrastructure begins. And because the design of the installation has already been prepared, Installation can occur rapidly and employee expectations can be managed smoothly. The basic infrastructure is installed for the first employee, but additional charging docks will only be installed as needed. The result? You don’t end up dedicating parking spaces to EV parking that isn’t being used. When the tenant leaves, eVgo will remove the charging unit. It is still more than I would consider paying at this point. $3.45/day for electricity vs. the 1/2 gallon of gas I anticipate on the drive home. ($69 / 20 workdays per month) But I haven't found anything else out there for subsidization or "renting" of infrastructure that actually includes the infrastructure. I'm still looking for a way to recharge at work for my return commute or I'll be running on ICE the whole way for that leg. Everything I find in downtown Dallas is private or for use by hotel guests only. So far it looks like they are only in Houston and "North Texas" which would mean DFW.
  24. Could someone please track the following order for me? Dealer: F16585 Order Code: 900A Order #: 2222 Order Type: 1 Priority: 10 Order Date: 3/11/13 Thanks, Tim
  25. I'm hoping for some quick feedback from the community... I'm going to my dealer tonight to finalize paperwork on my Energi Ti. In reviewing the drive off cost and what fees are in it the dealer mentioned $399 for an "etching" fee. I understand this to be a "theft deterrent" by having the glass and, I guess, some other parts etched with the VIN. I'm really on the fence about whether this is necessary. It is completely optional. It just makes me think of the old dealer added undercoating. Anyone else run into this or something similar and what are your thoughts about paying to have this done? Many thanks!
