CD4EMAN
Ain't gonna' happen......Mulally knows the UAW is in no position to strike. We'll give up some pay and increase our health care costs without any kick back. Watch... REMEMBER FORD IS IN NO POSITION FOR THE UAW TO STRIKE EITHER!!! OK
Mulally knows the UAW is in no position to strike. Is the UAW in no position to strike or the majority of UAW workers that live check to check in no position to strike?
228electrician
ford in position to strike??? a strike would save them money and allow them to sell off extra cars they have sitting around and when everyone is on the street with their homes in foreclosed, you will crawl back for $20 an hour because mc'd's pays $10, and any job out there like the one you do hardly pays more than $15. hate to say it but face the facts, ford is now under 10% market share, more cuts are coming, not bonuses for paycuts. and ford wants their stock to tank since they have been looking at buybacks and going private, sorry but, i have not beenn sitting and whinning, i have been doing my homework and preparing to move out of state for work, over $20 an hour is not in any factory workers future. Man are you spot on. the company is in the shitter, 30,000 of their brethren were given money to "please leave", and enough people to fill 3 pages of posts think they might get a bonus. The contract will have expired come September, they can cut the pay by 15 percent and bump up health insurance pay and they won't have any problem filling the ranks. Why would they give 100k when the contract is expired and people will be begging to keep their jobs?

Hellcat_F6F
Say if you get a lump sum of 2%, or $1600; compare that with a 2% raise, or $.60 an hour. The lump sum is just a one shot deal. The $.60 an hour is forever. If you get another lump sum the next year, it is the same as getting nothing extra. With the hourly increase, you already have it, and if you get more, it really is more. You're right, but I was talking about a substantial, as in 10's of thousands, lump sum. $1600 is 2 paychecks (straight time anyway).
