Originally I was told mid-October so I'm not terribly trusting of the dates. My current car is a 1997 Chevy Prism which is eating as much oil as gas and won't start half the time so I have been renting but I don't want to keep renting if it's going to be two months. I'd really like the dealer to be straightfoward with me and say they have no idea when the car will ship or they're pretty sure it will ship by some date. Unfortunately the dealer has little to no control over what Ford decides to do in regards to when your order will be built. Since SYNC is a new feature that has a "commodity restriction" (meaning: that they have to limit the number of units scheduled until stock starts flowing into the plant), the fact that you've been serialized is a good thing -- it means that they are projected to have the parts necessary to build your vehicle on time. I just went through the same thing on my own ordered vehicle -- I own one of the rare '08 Ranger FX4s that has a manual transmission. The option (funny, because the manual is standard equipment) was "late availability", it took over a month to get the vehicle serialized. So try to have a little faith in your dealer. Like me, I'd rather not give you any information if it means I had to make up a BS story. ETAs in the Vehicle Visibility system change all the time -- factories have mechanical downtime that mess up the schedule, nothing of which the dealer can do anything about. Hardhawk Posted November 19, 2007 Share Posted November 19, 2007 What is the difference between the Vehicle Visibility System (VVS) and the CONCEPS system? My wife's Edge shows up as "in production" on VVS and as already built on CONCEPS. But both have an ETA of 11/26/07. That sure seems fast to get it to southern KS all the way from Ontario, Canada. They must really have the rail/truck shipping lined out incredibly well. It is really fascinating learning about how the production system works. It would be a lot of fun to actually visit the factory. Last time I went through a factory was the GM Fairfax factory in KC in 1995. It was amazing then.
