Update....Job 1 has been moved ahead to June instead of August. :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet:

Hey. Thanks for the info. Did you ever find out about the MPG estimates or ways they may be boosting the mpg? And what would that mean for us that the job got bumped up? Would we see some engines sooner then predicted b4?

Thanks again. -Ray

I've asked a couple of people and all they could say was "I'm not sure", "I don't know" and "a little better".

I doubt we will see the engines any sooner, I think Ford just wants to get this truck out there and see if it will boost sales a bit.

I was trained on the new truck last week, and was told by the product specialist that the launch will now be in June. I thought the truck looked great, and the crewcab is massive. There was a 4.6 3V in the truck I worked on and was told the 5.4 would get a slight horsepower boost, like 10-15 and they weren't sure about torque. As far as engines, there is a diesel coming down the road and a 6.0-6.2 liter V8 coming both natural aspirated and supercharged. I was also told they will unveil this truck December 10th at my plant DTP for a NAIAS Charity preview. I thought that date was wierd and a little early for a autoshow charity preview. There is also a specialty truck coming that will have the supercharged engine, but was told not a lightning but an off-road truck referred to as the Raptor. All in all, I think the truck looks great and can't wait to get one.

Good post! Raptor eh? Sounds interesting, def like the sound of the name. Sounds agressive. Anyway have you here anythig about a twin turboed v6 or about any mpg ratings? June? When was the launch suposed to be before? Thanks for posting. :)

Has anything changed with launch engines? Are the new engines still slotted for 6-12 mos after initial launch?

Thanks,

Ray

Sorry, forgot to mention the turbo six. They said down the road there will be a turbo V6, but no mention of when it will arrive. No mention from anyone on MPG ratings, just saying slightly better with six speed transmission. Another interesting point they told us was the engine bay for the new truck is the same as the engine bay on the new Navigator, hence better bracing. As far as engine launches, I was told Dec 09 a 4.2 liter diesel would be out. I thought 4.2 was wierd and questioned them thinking it was supposed to be 4.4, but they said it would be 4.2. They said a year after that for the 6.2 liter engines. At DTP, they said we will be running 5 different engines on the engine line. I also saw the tailgate with the step and handle integrated in it. There was also a IP from a plantinum truck that had a trailer braking option on it. I will post more as I remember things. Oh yeah, the launch was supposed to be August, but they said Ford wants the truck out before anyone else.

What line/shift do you work?

What line/shift I work is not relevant, just posting what I was told by product specialist in training. Not looking for any arguments. We were encouraged to share this info.

Not trying to start any arguments...Was just currious. Chassis3, B crew. I'll also be working with the launch team during the launch and thought I might stop by and say "Hi".

I am just trying to be very cautious as you know how people can get on these forums. That's funny you are on Chassis 3 because I am on Chassis 4 but on the horrendous C crew. I mean horrendous by the work hours. We were trained last week on the changes to our jobs with the new truck and the product specialist (you probably know who they are) told us to basically spread the news. I have no problem if I get something wrong and you can correct it, but don't want to get into debates. Just want to share info with people who are really interested to know as I am too. I will look out for you at the launch.

post-30288-1196907636_thumb.jpgWas also wondering if anyone came up with some numbers on the mpg for the v6 twin force, and when it will be coming out. And also for all the haters just because the f150 has a windsheild and a bed doesn't mean it looks like a toyota. They look nothing alike. Thanks guys.

rickey, from what I understood, it is being unveiled at our plant (DTP) for a charity preview of the 08 NAIAS. So that will be for people who want to drop big bucks or for just media, but I am sure that pictures and info will be released to the public. Also, no mpg ratings on the 3.5 twin force, but the trainers made it sound to me that the new engines are to be released for 2010 and 2011 model years. The diesel I know he said december of 09 as a 2010.5 release, and the 6.2 V8 for 2010, and then he said the Turbo engine after that. Again this is what I was told in training. Things at Ford change on a daily basis. The launch has already changed from August to June, so we will see.

As far as looking like the Toyota, I think the rear taillights look similar to the Tundra, but I think they actually look better because they weren't just all red. I think the truck looks great and people will be pleasantly surprised after all the speculation. The picture that is shown online doesn't do the truck justice. You have to see it in person and up close.

thanks anike7. I am sure ford wants to get these engines on the market as soon as possible. As much as I want to see the new truck, I won't be able to justify getting a new one unless it gets better gas mileage. I am sure there are many other that feel the same way. Thanks for the info bud. Can't wait to see the pics.

So the Hurricane is STILL over 3 years away??? They'll be out of business by then! They need it at launch, no later, what is wrong with Ford???

They have cut engineering by 33% over the past few years and now they are paying for it.

Future Powertrain control system are likely to be outsourced completely.

Is the the non-turbo, non-DI Duratec 3.7L V6 the base engine ?
