sprinter
A group of high school kids can build a car that would SELL, something your engineering department and upper management doesn't seem to understand http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/02/17/...in1329941.shtml Kids Build Soybean-Fueled Car The star at last week's Philadelphia Auto Show wasn't a sports car or an economy car. It was a sports-economy car — one that combines performance and practicality under one hood. But as CBS News correspondent Steve Hartman reports in this week's Assignment America, the car that buyers have been waiting decades comes from an unexpected source and runs on soybean bio-diesel fuel to boot. A car that can go from zero to 60 in four seconds and get more than 50 miles to the gallon would be enough to pique any driver's interest. So who do we have to thank for it. Ford? GM? Toyota? No — just Victor, David, Cheeseborough, Bruce, and Kosi, five kids from the auto shop program at West

kevinb120
Need more attention on the CAR, me wants to see it go! I wish my HS shop had those kinds of resources though, we had hardly anything to work with that wasn't donated.
J-150
it will sell? yeah right. Who is going to buy it? Seriously. Anyone can make alternate fuel vehicles, but until the supply side the the eqaution provides convenient fueling stations, they will never sell. Think of how few stations sell natural gas and propane for vehicles. It means in many areas you really have to go out of your way to fuel up... and those fuels have been around for a long time. DoubleD
And I'm sure it will reliably run for 100,000, and meet both safety and emissions standards.

Why don't you lighten up a little. I don't think that these highschool kids are going to cutt in to fords percentage of the market. I wish we had an auto shop like that in highschool :happy feet:
ebritt
watch the video and listen to the kid at the end...he nailed it. The reason cars like this arent being built is oil companiy greed. There are engines and alternative fuels out there but big oil buys the patents or sues them into oblivion.
