They did a fairly comprehensive review including the FWD Hybrid and the 4x4 Gas Engine. They seem to have cobbled the pre-release information with 2008 impressions, so no real new information. I've been doing searches on a daily bases as we all want to know more about the '09 FEH/MMH. When I find anything in the future, I'll post the link in this thread. Sometimes we read pass things like the change in the rear disc to drums this year and someone else catches it and bring it to our attention. I'll be writing a comparison in the '09 from the '05 I now own when I get my '09 in. Also, if someone sees when the '09 workshop manuals come out, we need to post that. I've had the '05 Helms manuals since just after my '05 purchase and they have helped me learn so much and pass it along in these forums. What I discovered already is that the articles and manuals only give you so much information, so I had to go to the Ford hybrid patents. Some of the patents (like disconnects) in the eCVT were not installed, but many of the patents I discovered did apply. There is a warm-up strategy patent that has helped many hypermilers learn how to improve their warm-up to go EV much quicker. I monitor new patents as Ford gets them now, but will help anyone find patents on subjects they want to learn about. I was wondering how this works since Ford hasn't provided much information on the new engine design. ds91776 Posted May 28, 2008 Share Posted May 28, 2008 That autoweek review is the first time I have seen a torque number for the PIP 3.0. It rates it at 223ib/ft, is this correct? If so its a huge improvement over the Fusion's torque it has now...isn't it like 205 or somthing? Of course I'm waiting also, but here's what Ford said: More capable. Ford Motor says the 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid on sale next month and Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan hybrids due in 2010 will be able to run on electric power alone up to 40 mph - 10 mph faster than current models.
