i agree wholeheartedly,,like ive said before ,,WE ARE THE UNION,,our motto always has been honest days work for an honest days pay,,,its simple,, some of us tend to complicate it,,,we all know times are changing,,so must we,,,but that still doesnt change our basic mission and goal ,,,,EQUAL AND FAIR REPRESENTATION FOR ALL,,,and i realize that every now and then you must hold fast before you can charge ahead,but once again ,,,that doesnt give any other EQUAL member the just cause,,, which magically appeared in his head, to come on here and act like an assclown towards others((hint,,hint},,

 

Well, I dont see Capt and Level as ass clowns for sure...When I need a serious answer to a serious contract question...I count on these guys to answer it..They have never steered me wrong that way for sure with a few others as well that I count on.

 

Also, from reading thier material they both seem to have Traditional views on the union when it pertains to MGT. folks commenting on our internal affairs..or just the fact that our internal affairs are out there in the first place....

 

I can respect thier opinions on that also..but this is a great place to vent and get steered in the right direction if we make it that way.

Remember, Reuther came up when organizing was the easiest....Unions were on the uprise and ww2 was on the horizion plants of 10,000-30,000 would call UAW international and say

 

"all 10,000 of us went on strike, we want to organize, send someone out today so we can go back to work because we won't go back until you get here." :blink:

 

Today people are dumpster diving to get info to try to get support to organize a 50 person facility.

Times are way diffrent....This comparasion is not fair to anyone holding office today....

 

just like comparing sports figures of old to the ones that play the game today...two diffrent worlds....and my favorite Unionist is Walter Reuther followed by Steve Yokich followed by Barry Sanders and Gordie Howe.

 

Dumping all this on Ron and Bob is extreamly far fetched. Especially, because it is a documented fact that they have done more for the membership over 40 years than any of us...Thats all I am saying... :reading:

 

It is hard to criticize people who at least give thier best...what have we done??? We are too soft. :shades:

 

However, I may agree that the game playing is a little bit much. Too many are taking these decisions to lightly or just as long as they get "thiers" they will defend anything even at the cost of the rest of us.

I hold a strong negative opinion of this type of behavior from people. :gang:

 

However, you won't see that kind of behavior from Ron or Bob or the rest of the leadership.

Maybe a few of those who work for Bob or Ron who may think that is the path to thier stardome...after 4 or 5 years of being on staff those people all discover no one respects a suck ass (not even the person getting thier ass sucked)

I believe Walter saw much worse times. He was shot, beat up, his brother was shot. You may want to check out some of the great man's speeches on the Wayne State Univeristy site. There is a speech he gave to new hires in , I believe 1964, could have been 1968, at COBO Hall when he talked about the day coming when gasoline would be at high prices and the auto industry needed to get away from high horse powered cars to those that are more fuel efficient. through the use of new technology. That was forty years ago, and that is why I said he would have told Padilla to shove it. HE had vision and strength and would not sit back condoning operations that would harm his membership ( the loss of volume which equals the loss of jobs).

 

While I do not blame Ron and Bob for the mess we are in, I think we can all agree at that pivotal moment in time when Ford decided to go from autos to Trucks and SUVS, Brother Walter would have said no way.

 

As a nation we have drifted fom our historical roots. We used to take too the streets for many reasons. Now we won't because it may "hamper" negotiations (concessionary ones at that)!! Brother Reuther could pick up the phone and talk to the President, or the PRESIDENT WOULD CALL HIM>. Now, the President's don't even know we are alive. Today we support and elect Presidents and Politicians that believe in free trade for all countries but ours. We need to get angry and we need to realize you can only give up so much before you throw the dirt and crap back in the face of those who are shoveling it into yours. There is nothing wrong with challenging authority, that is what causes change.

Just because Reuther was shot does not make the times harder....the times were easier for UAW organizing and because the masses would just walk out of thier plants to organize made it very easy for the UAW and it's leadership to grow it's membership to be able to demand justice for all...

I do agree Walter had the best Vision for our union followed by Steve Y....the the times allowed for him to be able to see their visions through...

I haven't listened to the Rush Limbaugh show for a while. I decided to tune it in on AM 930 Buffalo. I can't get that station any more. I wonder why? We had to fight like hell to get FOX news channel included on cable in Canada. The CRTC caved in when people started to realize that it was government censorship.

 

There is nothing wrong with being designated as a "red man". There are whites, yellows, browns and blacks in the world. The Beothuk tribe probably had the first contact with Europeans. They actually did dye their skin red.

These pages on this forum does not go back far enough, but if it did you would see Level and Furious did not even like each other. they didn't see eye to eye. This site was not started by both of them. It was started by furious and given to the likes of level to give information. If someone has their own veiws on subjects or issues who in the heck cares. As long as you are a UAW member no one cares what you say, but there will be others who will have a difference of opinion. Whats the big deal. Will your feelings get hurt or something??
