*puts checkbook away while Pete "works" on it* MUST....FIGHT....SATAN.....

Wait, Cap'n said I could buy 2!!

Seriously though, I have never seen the kind of investment that Ford is putting into this place now. They CAN'T have any plans to close it, so if there are no buyers, then I think we're good for now. Actually I'd like to say we're good until the next contract, but that might be wishful thinking.

I DONT KNOW HOW YOU CAN HAVE ALL THESE COMPANIES (ach) "Controlled" by "ford"...but at the same time have 1000 people in protective status. If they are controlled y ford then no one should be ILO...renegotiations are in order....They have tricked ALL of us. 1000's of people working for $14...and another 1000 with no return to work date...wtf??These people were replaced in a smooth way---and we let em, without a fight...nobody should go voluntarily----then the layoffs would be more fair..by senoirity, I think they are oligated to go ack to the table with ford to send people ack to ach.......(THEY ARE STILL FORD UNLESS THEY CLOSE OR SELL)...I dont see why we have let this happen---and its still happening ....the company is doing WHATEVER they want. I would guess that ILO'd people WILL END UP BEING BROUGHT BACK...How dare they be replaced==yet ford still runs the companies...wtf??

I doubt we'd vote for that. With the millions of dollars Ford is throwing at this plant, they obviously don't plan on closing it in the near future. But then again, this is Ford we're talking about! :finger:

It's like being in a cave, you can't see two feet in front of your face these days. I can't even begin to speculate on things anymore. Nothing would surprise me at this point. I just wish the best for us all.

Saline, beware. What I understand is that your plant makes consoles and door panels. Why would Ford pay 72 an hour for you folks to build them when companies are going out of business paying less that 22 an hour all in? I would suspect that the committee their is going to have to give a lot of things up to stay open. Are the orange people going to get a raise? Are they going to get upgraded health insurance instead of only having catastrophic health care? If they take you back under the oval, how are they going to phase out Rawsonville and Sterling while you are brought back into the fold?

Be very cautious, ask questions, and demand that the Union give you all the information they have about bump in rights (bet there are none), upgrading the benefit package for the current orange temps (bet there are none).

Learn from history folks, the past has the anwser. In the late 70's Ford invested over 150 million into Flat Rock casting, then closed the place. They were still bringing new equipment on the day we were walked out. The 50 mill they have put into Saline was mostly to take care of enviormental issues and work from C@A with the door panels from Utica. Don't get too excited about a full return under the blue oval. Ford is not going to close assembly plants to keep open a facility that makes door panels. They may temporarily keep you open to dump JSP people into your plant before they can place them at an assembly plant, but you will never be Ford as you were in the past.
