Congratulations Barrack Obama.

The balance of power now sits with the dems.

President-Dem.

Senit.56-40.Dem's.

House. 253-173 Dems.

They are in control from 09-13

however many McCain supporters fear Obama may have hidden agendas. If this be so it should ease them to know there is a loop hole thanks be it to our forefathers.

The United States Congress is the bicameral legislature of the federal government of the United States of America, consisting of two houses, the Senate and the House of Representatives. Both senators and representatives are chosen through direct election.

As provided by the United States Constitution, each of the 435 members of the House of Representatives represents a district and serves a two-year term. House seats are apportioned among the states by population. The 100 Senators serve staggered six-year terms. Each state has two senators, regardless of population. Every two years, approximately one-third of the Senate is elected.

Article I of the Constitution vests all legislative power in the Congress. The House and Senate are equal partners in the legislative process (legislation cannot be enacted without the consent of both chambers); however, the Constitution grants each chamber some unique powers. The Senate is empowered to approve treaties and presidential appointments. Revenue-raising bills must originate in the House of Representatives, which also has the sole power of impeachment, while the Senate has the sole power to try impeachment cases.

The Congress meets in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.

The term Congress actually refers to a particular meeting of the national legislature, reckoned according to the terms of representatives. Therefore, a "Congress" covers two years. The current 110th Congress first convened on January 4, 2007.

That being said:The balance of power can change January 2011 and again 2013.

So lets just see what barrack can do and if congress is un happy the system will take care of its self.

But, that is just a piece of paper, and is woefully outdated (as per "the one").

Thus, changes will need to be made.

Change. Be careful of what you wish for.

Well, at least we can be thankful that the Democrats didn't manage to get the magic number of 60 seats in the Senate, so there's still the power of the fillibuster to protest legislation.

That, I suspect, is the only thing that will save the 2nd Amendment. That was the one tiny blip of good news, on this election day.

Neither Obama, nor Biden, have ever met a gun control bill that they didn't like. Or, in Bidens case............. write.

However, the good news, is that terrorism will cease to exist. After all, Obama will sit down and have a nice long chat with them. That will solve the problem. Then, after he pulls all of our military out of Iraq (so that the crazies can come here, instead of fighting "us" over there), and cuts military spending to nothing............... we won't have anything to worry about. Just like criminals, just tell them to not do something, and they won't................. after all, they respect authority so much.

Its going to be a long 2-4 years.

More fear mongering from the extreme 4-4

The new administration and the house and the senate have bigger fish to fry that the 2nd amendment, I bet the 2nd amendment is way down the priority list for them, I hope, because I strongly support the 2nd.

All of the military out of Iraq? Keep dreaming.

Terrorists all coming over here? more fear mongering.

Cutting the military spending to %0 surely you mean to be taken literally do you?

He has promised that he will pull the troops out of Iraq, and will cut military spending. That is plain and simple.

The last person to do that, was a wonderful pres known as Jimmy Carter. We all know how well that worked out. Nice man............. poor president.

Word is, that he intends to work on gun control legislation, pretty quickly. However, what would you know............. you probably believe that black semi automatic firearms are "assault weapons."

Anyway, you are not worth arguing with. We know where you stand. We will touch base with you in a year or two............. but what do we know, we are just fear mongering. Yeppers, those terrorists are nothing to worry about.............. just ask the people in NYC.

And people on the right tend to use the world elitist....and they tend to make it seem as if socialists and liberals are one in the same...and they use Liberals as if it is a bad word. In reality, the stupid put downs used by both sides are rather stupid.

We can't help but state the facts which is that Liberalism and Socialism are tied together at the feet, The exact words of the man were "Spread the wealth around" ! Liberalism is a mental sickness that will lead to the fall of Democracy if not stopped.

Liberalism and Socialism are not the same thing.

Liberalism is a broad class of political philosophies that consider individual liberty to be the most important political goal.[1]

Liberalism emphasizes individual rights and equality of opportunity. Within liberalism there are various streams of thought which compete over the use of the term "liberal" and may propose very different policies, but they are generally united by their support for a number of principles, including freedom of thought and speech, limitations on the power of governments, the rule of law, an individual's right to private property,[2] free markets,[2] and a transparent system of government.[3] All liberals, as well as some adherents of other political ideologies, support some variant of the form of government known as liberal democracy, with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law.[4]

Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating state or collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and the creation of an egalitarian society.[1][2] Modern socialism originated in the late nineteenth-century working class political movement. Karl Marx posited that socialism would be achieved via class struggle and a proletarian revolution which represents the transitional stage between capitalism and communism.[3][4]

Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly, although there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how, and to what extent this could be achieved.[1]

Socialism is not a discrete philosophy of fixed doctrine and program; its branches advocate a degree of social interventionism and economic rationalization, sometimes opposing each other. Another dividing feature of the socialist movement is the split on how a socialist economy should be established between the reformists and the revolutionaries. Some socialists advocate complete nationalization of the means of production, distribution, and exchange; while others advocate state control of capital within the framework of a market economy. Social democrats propose selective nationalization of key national industries in mixed economies combined with tax-funded welfare programs; Libertarian socialism (which includes Socialist Anarchism and Libertarian Marxism) rejects state control and ownership of the economy altogether and advocates direct collective ownership of the means of production via co-operative workers' councils and workplace democracy.

They are not the same and neither is necessarily evil or destructive. In being open to all ideas, you may find that all sides present some very good ideas and that none are completely right. That includes Conservatism. Also, Liberalism is NOT a mental disorder.
