wescoent
I want to dedicate this thread to Alan Mulally, who came to Ford as CEO over 2 years ago. It still seems like yesterday when I got the text alert that Bill Ford had resigned, and brought Alan on board. Truly, I credit where Ford is today to him and his management team, which has been simply phenomenal. In the investing world, we say that you don't invest in companies... you invest in MANAGERS. Alan's dedication and skills were a primary driver for why Ford was able to secure that 23 billion dollar loan in 2006. I've never met the man, but I know people who have, and they've related to me what a warm and genuine person he is, and I'm just glad that in these tough economic times, Ford has a CEO that everyone can believe in. Ford's product problems and failures in the past are directly related to the previous mismanagement at the corporate level. With all the media attention these days about the "Detroit 3" I'm constantly answering questions about Ford and its future. After about ten minutes telling people about Ford's all-new product that will start hitting the Market this year (2010 Mustang, 2010 Fusion & 2010 Fusion Hybrid, 2010 Taurus, Transit Connect, 2011 Fiesta, etc) they tell me that they've learned more from me about Ford's positive outlook for the future than they could ever learn from the media. My primary work is for handling advertising and marketing for two Ford dealerships. As such, I'll put my two cents in for hoping that Ford will resurrect its "Have you driven a Ford... Lately?" marketing campaign at some point this year. THere's never been a more appropriate time for it!
TomServo92
Mulally is the right man at the right time. Also, you have to give Bill Ford credit for choosing wisely.
SVT_MAN
Alan Mulally is doing what Bill Ford could not do under his own power. I give credit to both - but Mulally is a genius and one of the best spokespeople I've ever seen. He never seems to have trouble answering a question ... he's pretty much unflappable. jpd80
Alan Mulally is a proper leader who brought an outsider's perspective and true corporate governance. Bill Ford could never get people to do that, he was surrounded by people who resisted change. Alan Mulally's $20 million/year Versus the recurring internal improvement of up to $5 Billion/year? Mulally wins hands down!!! Edited January 17, 2009 by jpd80
