I am glad that Obama got his two years of power. It gave the people a chance to see exactly what the left is all about. I hope that you enjoy your ranting and raving about how great socialism is. Look around you. Look at history. It doesn't work. It has never worked. Now the people will elect a responsible government. Obama will be a lame duck after November. Your man is in the White House, but people who think like you do are in the minority. America has natural wealth. It doesn't need a lot of government. It needs minimal government so that the people can go out there and get that wealth. Government has squandered the wealth of the nation and indebted future generations. Let government default. Government debt is not the peoples' debt. Get rid of the government and set up a new society based on individualism instead of collectivism. Dust off the Constitution, and this time follow it.

Since Obama been in office my business has not been taxed. And yes i have employees and the new health care bill is wonderful because of tax credits. The new health care bill is not hurting companies its helping. The only companies you hear complaing are the ones that are upset that the so called loop hole is being closed. These companies like AT&T were double dipping and now those days are over. So their bottom line is not being hit they are simply not allowed to skim off the top anymore. AND ITS ABOUT TIME>>>So before you bad mouth the health care bill we about it first so that you will no what you are talking aobut.

I didnt say the constitution said anything about slavery... I said it was written by white slave owners for white slave owners. Without blacks, native american and all other minorities in mind. It is about someone who should humble himself to the wishes of the people and do what they want, not arrogantly give them the back of his hand if they disagree with him. The majority of the people do not want the country to go socialist. Obama should moderate his position to reflect this. Instead, it is full steam ahead on His agenda.

 

A business will flourish a lot better without the government's hand in it's pocket. Huge conglomerates are partners with government. Government regulations keep the small fish from competing. It is easier to tax one large company than dozens of smaller ones. A large company can get it's people elected to government, and make a cozy arrangement. This is what comes of government regulations.

 

If the government is running every essential service, it is no different than Communist. They let businesses operate on their own, and just suck enough out so that they barely stay afloat. They give people entitlements by printing up money, which is the same as taxation. They are only concerned with maintaining their own cushy lifestyles during their life. After they die, if the whole house of cards collapses, they don't care.

 

We are so far in debt that we will never pay it down. Government should have never been allowed to put us in this predicament. Dollars are not wealth. They are debt. They are IOUs. If you have a million dollars, you have NOTHING. The only difference between our government and Communism is the name.

Longball, not that I disagree with your comment, but Social Security never had any over payments. This "PONZI" scheme was always dependent on more people working to pay for a lesser number of retirees drawing down the funds. Now the Baby Boomers (the largest group of workers in the US) are reaching retirement age, the number of workers who are contributing into Social Security will continue to decrease.

Clinton's Social Security Scam

When President Clinton announced a plan to save Social Security this past January, aides were flummoxed. Many acknowledged that they didn't understand key elements of the plan and were unable to explain it to reporters. The plan is complicated, almost perversely so. It projects large budget surpluses over the next 15 years, $4.5 trillion worth, itself a pretty dubious scenario. Assuming the surpluses materialize, Clinton proposes giving 62% of the money, or $2.8 trillion, to the Social Security Trust Fund.

 

The twist is that $2.8 trillion is almost exactly the amount of excess payroll taxes slotted for the Social Security Trust Fund in the first place. That's what stumped Clinton's aides. Under Clinton's plan, the SSA will collect excess payroll taxes and give the cash to the Treasury, receiving bonds in return. Normally, Treasury would then spend the funds on education, roads, weapons, and so forth, but Clinton proposes that Treasury instead give the cash back to SSA, who will then give it back once again to the Treasury and receive an additional infusion of bonds. In this way the Trust Fund balance is nearly doubled and Social Security's accounting "crisis" dissolves until 2050 or beyond. Now, if only Treasury and the SSA would make this exchange over and over again, the Trust Fund could be expanded to infinity and the accounting problems of Social Security would disappear forever.

 

Congressional Republicans fumed at the chicanery of the plan, and it is tricky. Would that Clinton carried the trick just a bit further. After all, the Trust Fund serves no real economic function, save to express, through an elaborate accounting device, a legal obligation of the Treasury to the SSA. If the Treasury were to issue $5 or $6 trillion in special promissory notes today and give them to the SSA, this would have exactly the same effect on the future of Social Security as the Clinton plan. Why, then, collect trillions in excess payroll taxes for 15 years, simply to achieve a paper transaction that Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin could complete in 15 minutes? Clinton's plan exposes the Trust Fund for the accounting charade that it is, so why not go all the way and eliminate the excess payroll tax?

 

Once Treasury receives the Social Security surplus for the second time, Clinton suggests using the funds to retire part of the federal debt. Republican leadership, shamed by Clinton's cry of "Social Security first," have agreed to support debt retirement. But the federal debt is held by banks, investment firms and wealthy individuals, while nearly all of the projected surplus funds come from low- and middle-income wage earners. Thus do Clinton and the Congress propose transferring income from the poor and middle class to the very rich. In addition to the debt-paydown scheme, Clinton advocates putting another $1.2 trillion of payroll taxes and general revenues toward retirement: $700 billion to be invested by the SSA in the stock market and $500 billion to fund new "individual savings accounts." Altogether, our representatives propose to hand over $3.5 trillion in tax dollars to the finance industry.

 

Advocates of these "savings" schemes, including many prominent neo-liberal economists, argue that the flood of public funds into financial markets will lower interest rates, stimulate private-sector investment and set off an endless cycle of robust growth. Sound familiar? It should. This is precisely how Ronald Reagan sold his tax cut in 1982. Reagan though, just cut taxes for the rich. It takes Democratic leadership to actually steal our wages and give them to Wall Street.

The president isn't anyone's boss, except for his staff. The interest on the debt is probably more than income tax collected. If interest rates go up to their proper level, and the baby boomers retire, and stop paying tax and start collecting government pensions, how is that going to be paid for? More debt? What happens when the creditors cut up the credit card? Easy. The government goes and borrows much more from itself and goes on a spending frenzy. That is like dumping a pile of paper on a waning campfire. You will get a blaze for a short time, but the wood will not catch fire, and the embers will be smothered from oxygen, so it will go out.
