PREMiERdrum
In a move to continue and distance itself from its corporate heritage, General Motors is dropping the 36-year-old Goodwrench car mechanic brand in the United States. Somewhere, we're certain, Stephen Colbert is crying. The Mr. Goodwrench brand — first launched in 1974 — is used by GM dealers to promote vehicle repair and maintenance services will instead be replaced by "Chevrolet Certified Service," "Cadillac Certified Service," "Buick Certified Service," and "GMC Certified Service. 630land
Original "Mr Goodwrench" was a bald, nerdy guy in overalls. I can see why GM wants to move forward. If they used same type of actor today, would only sell to 80 y/olds.
twintornados
Meanwhile, Ford continues with the expansion of Quick Lanes at it's dealerships to compete with the Jiffy Lubes of the world.....Ford Certified service has always been a hallmark of the company. What will GM do to come up with their version of Quick Lanes to assist the dealer network with the loss of Mr Goodwrench?
Ovaltine
"In a move to continue and distance itself from its corporate heritage, General Motors is dropping the 36-year-old Goodwrench car mechanic brand in the United States...." Maybe GM's quietly grooming "Gary and Ace", er, I mean "Max and Al" to also take over the Goodwrench marketing duties? In fact, here they are in the latest GM concept vehicle, the Chevy Cruise®..... -Ovaltine Edited November 10, 2010 by Ovaltine
