Reigner92
Mercury C557 Cortina a progression of the last side-shot thumbnail (elsewhere), with a different (though related) donor (LINK) still fixating on a tunnel-back hatch - with a name change & then just 'finished' a front - tho think I now need to make the rear bumper less square so they go together original I like it quite a bit, it seems(in my mind) like an american interpretation of mazda styling. 2b2
Thanks, Reigner don't know if you looked at the originals or the other link but they did start out as a couple Mazda renderings & despite that, even I'm surprised by how the themes from some of the earlier chops have stayed consistent without referring back to them while doing these
twintornados
Looks good 2b2....slap on some Lincoln logos and you got a winner.....
2b2
Thanks, twintornados & are you suggesting this 'Cortina' as the long-debated (in some circles) "Next Look" for Lincoln's design direction??? Don't think I agree even tho I've thought of Mercury's design DNA as sharing elements with anyone from Mercubishi up to BMercW & AlfaMerceo, for Lincoln I'd demand something more 'princely' with more 'gravitas' but TY
2b2
possibly should've renamed this thread Hot Mercury Hatches... ...continuing to explore "The Small Merc Theorem" with this very SLOW quickie-chop: the Mercury 'Myke' based on "Tom's" hot hatch chop found @ CarSpyShots, that I started almost a year ago

2b2
Thanks, Tim it's just that if I'm having a bad day already when reading something like that, I find that I feel even worse if I don't shoot something back

timmm55
Alas, I can't use photoshop either! You can use it. You changed the background, the wheels, color and put on a different facia. Now try and design a car, something fresh or inovative, or just fun.........anything?

(significant changes in concept and design) is telling. On the Mustang Source you'll notice they have Photoshop requests, Automotive Art and the Art Gallery, this may give you an idea of the stuff you do, design and Art. There's a Photoshop Tutorial you may want to look at. http://forums.themustangsource.com/f662/index3/ You lowering this argument to a lower level and hijacking it. :poke: much? :P Sorry, not a fan of the past look you got going there... <<<< You're being negative and deconstructive. You hijack it and make it all about your opinion, an opinion without apparent knowledge. It's a nice drawing with some good ideas. Do you have to like it? No, of course not. But why bother posting negative crap (and you've done it several times before) and Bully people with real ability? fou_bleu
Why would you say that? Nobody said it was. But now you did say "crap", even if by refuting it. Is this as passive agressive as it seems? I NEVER SAID IT WAS "CRAP"!!!!!!! NOW you definitely are putting words in my mouth! Stop it, your the one dragging this bullshit on!!! I apologise that what I have said may seem to be offensive, but I NEVER intended it to come across like how you obviously have interpreted it. Here is a carefully selected rewording, just for you: "I'm not 100% sure on the look going on there, but I also think it could have something to do with the harping on about Mercury - "Leave sleeping dogs lie" is what comes to mind..." As for my apparent lack of talent with photoshop, I am also so very sorry - do I need to do a Uni degree before I can comment in future? You do need to stop patronising people too - THAT'S worse than what I was apparently saying... Can this be ended now? Or do we need a 10 page rebuttal! 2b2
I had a Good day for a change (*whew*) & since the thread wasn't getting much action before Yeah, let's just call it quits and move on I'll post the latest image & enumerate the changes partly budget, partly in respect of the Focus's design = minimal changes: - sequential rear turn signals, reduced overall size - blacked out roof spoiler to emphasize fastback - 'Capri' D-pillar (not cheap but... ) - body color rocker panels (richer looking imho) - rear fascia/bumper to pickup different design elements doodads: re-visioned logo, Titanium-based wheels, nameplate on front door (& the sign on turntable) I keep hoping to come up with modifications that could actually be feasible in the real world cuz for now I'm hoping to get a Focus and Mercurify it + the Electric's front as mentioned in post #7 ...something that deals with ideas. (significant changes in concept and design)... ...a Photoshop Tutorial ... http://forums.themustangsource.com/f662/index3/ as I think Tim knows, I don't even try for flawless chops - just good enuf to get a concept across (I hope) & re-thanks - I'll check out that tutorial when there's time
fou_bleu
Looks good 2b2, and I see why your doing this now too - before I thought it was like a broken record of sour grapes with Ford! :D Especially agree with the body coloured lower body parts - S & SE is fine, BUT SEL & Titanium?! No thanks - they look MUCH better on the ST body coloured...
2b2
I posted the first Ford-donor versions here somewhere - I think - tho don't remember which thread but since these are still supposed be to based on the Focus (for the 3-door, & Grand C-Max's wlb for the 'sedan'), sticking them here with the C3 Mercs old: new donor, new angle, new side sculpting; same rooflines, front, & rear Focus-length 3-door hatch: G.C-Max length sedan (or 5-door with a non-obvious hatch): note: I didn't forget the side mirrors - there's a little panel on the doors where the CAMERAs would deploy when the cars aren't parked; nor the rear door handle on the sedan - it's hidden in the C-pillar blackout. (for my full Lincoln lineup and features/options/pkgs see: Mission: LINCOLN!) edit: working on an idea for a 'rather' different grille re-edit and here they are Edited May 3, 2011 by 2b2
2b2
not easy for my freebie software to change paint color but wanted to try an RS version & the silver didn't do it for me mostly minimal changes - cuz I'm curious if the basic style is thought suitable for a nextgen RS ($35-40k imho) dark grille, fender vent & logo, rocker panel, diff wheels, based this on the 3-door but sub'ed the sedan trunk for more rigid structure (350hp afterall) but one bigger change: decided to add buttresses to the C-pillars; thought of trying a hood bulge or scoop but need inspiration then tried a quickie darkening without any body changes
