  1. I loved the name of the Ford concepts of the mid- to late-2000's so I feel those should really be brought to life, with a bit of an astronomy theme: Focus-sized car: Iosis 2-seat sports car*: Atria MKZ: Evos MKS/Continental: Orion [final gen. Falcon codename] - but I'm happy with Continental LincStang*: R (maybe a 'sporty' sounding constellation - if that's a thing) MKC: VertrekMKX: Aviator [iMO should be an inbetweener model, 5 seat only etc.] Navigator: same PS: Zenith should logically be reserved for something a la Continental, as it is the zenith of the Lincoln brand. * My own 'dream machines' for the brand.
  2. What's to adapt for the MKZ? Does it not share enough components with the Fusion/Mondeo to be a reasonably simple addition to the line-up?
  3. I've been pondering over this prospect for a while and I feel that a lot, if not most, names mentioned just feel old (most of these names sound like something my grandparents bought when they were young) and not representative of where Lincoln is trying to go (relatively youthful and 'alternative'). Anyway, I loved the name of the Ford concepts of the mid- to late-2000's so I feel those should really be brought to life, with a bit of an astronomy theme (it is the Lincoln star after all). Focus-sized car: Iosis 2-seat sports car: Atria (a cookie for they who spot the possible irony here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_Trianguli_Australis) MKZ: Evos MKS/Continental: Orion [final gen. Falcon codename] - but I'm happy with Continental LincStang: MKR (sounds good to me... Don't look at me like that!) Full-size sedan: Centaurus (ONLY if the Taurus dies IMO - pending a rethink) Full-size coupe: R (maybe a 'sporty' sounding constellation?) MKC: Vertrek * dons flamesuit* MKX: Aviator [iMO should be an inbetweener model, 5 seat only etc.] Navigator: same Oh yeah, there's a few 'dream machines' in there!
  4. Great spot, though hopefully there's some more coming for this campaign - it can only be "Hello, again" for so long until they look ridiculous or like a broken record. As for the "mystery car", how anyone can't see it's an MKZ is beyond me I'm afraid...
  5. Looks exactly like an MKZ to me... Sidenote, great video Lincoln!
  6. "The MKC will battle nameplates such as the Acura RDX, Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLK and BMW X3 that dominate the segment." Those are the next segment up aren't they? I though the Q3, X1 and GLA were MKC fodder? :P To me the MKX goes against the likes of those listed...
  7. Yum yum! Great job once again Lincoln! Really wish I could see it on Australian roads and even test drive one, but oh well...
  8. As a devout FPR and Frosty fan, this has been a loooong time coming! I was sweating and nearly crying when he came around Murray's Corner! Go Frosty, Richo and FPR! Yeehaw!!!!
  9. Absolutely brilliant post Iiari and I couldn't agree with you any more!
  10. Here's an introductory ad to the campaign: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNqwdGaheCM Lincoln are also posting the following ads on their YouTube page: www.youtube.com/user/lincoln I personally think the execution is brilliant - the setting and environment is right, the music is absolutely spot on, the people are well into the target market (finally!) and it's still somewhat light hearted enough to not get people alienated via smugness.
  11. I see only two solutions - continuing with the MK-series or using brand-new names. Personally, LiMoCo has spent the time and money on the MK-series, so stick with it and make it work (MKE for electric car, MKR for performance etc.) Personally, I think MKZ should have been reserved for the flagship Lincoln (as in 'zenith').
  12. Perhaps we could return to the topic at hand rather than carry on this played-out circle of chest-beating (where everyone actually loses)? I think this program is a great start, but where could it go in terms of the future? Could we see performance versions fall under this 'Black Label'... label? EDIT: Or... maybe not. Le sigh, now I remember why I didn't come here for a while...
  13. All I can recommend is that you don't hold your breath - IMO the only RWD Fords within the foreseeable future are Mustang, Ranger, F-Series and Transit Cargo.
  14. Absolutely love the Indulgence package, great combinations! While this program isn't a first in the market, it's the introduction of it that makes me feel optimistic about the future of the Lincoln brand and that given time they may just get there yet. Keep up the great work Lincoln!
  15. The FG's interior is quite nice IMO (especially given the comparatively shoe-string budget used to develop it), but at the end of the day, methinks the XF's cabin might be a tad more pleasant place to be...
  16. Hmm, definitely going to have to reserve final judgement till we get proper pics, cause it doesn't look very 'original' to me...
  17. If anyone should have their media accreditation removed it's him! Erk
  18. From that all I can think of is Jan 2012 was an absolute shocker! Hahaha
  19. I didn't say I stated it, pictor did. Besides, it's not as if my original comment was double-Dutch-Chinese, surely it's obvious that I was referring to "here" (Australia). Sales outside of the top 10 are a huge success for a campaign these days?! Blimey, things are grim! I only have access to the limited data that is posted here and on other forums - which 9/10 times is just the top 10. Every now and then a Ford model is in the bottom few - but rarely have I seen a stable position as other manufacturers seem to be able to replicate. If you could provide data that shows FoA sales aren't declining or flat-lining, that'd be helpful, but in the meantime there's little evidence for me to see the situation in any other way. "We must remember...." The production capacity of plants and import numbers aren't really common knowledge, are they?
  20. As stated on the previous page, I'm talking about Australia here, not the U.S. Every month FoA sales are less and less, and there's nothing more to blame than de-contented, overpriced products and horrendous marketing.
  21. *sigh* We'll get it here one day, hopefully before Ford sales flat-line (as they are headed at this rate in Australia...) (Edited for convenience)
