Bob Rosadini
While this might be common knowledge to many of you, it might be useful info to those who have limited "tech skills" as I do. Got in the SHO today and the phone icon did not come up. Hit the "synch' key and "nothing". As I usually do in a situation like this, I call one of my kids. He says "it's the fuse"- I say- "no way-everything else on that circuit is working". Bottom line, I stop by his house, he pulls the fuse-which is not blown- and apparently the Synch reboots. End of problem.
Captainp4
Yeah, sometimes with electronics these days when all else fails you just have to hard reboot them (cut their power for 30 seconds or so and then hook 'em back up). Pulling the neg battery cable will work as well if you can't easily locate the fuse or reach it. This is usually one of the first things I do when I get someone coming to me with problems with a computer controlled car. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't, but it always clears the unnecessary codes out of the system and let's the immediate/pressing problems pop back up within a few minutes of driving around. Also a good fix for drive-ability issues in newer electronic automatic transmissions.
Kev-Mo
Bob, Recommend you go to syncmyride.com and register. Become a member of the community there for no other purpuse than to seach the threads when you encounter issues with your sync. I found discussions and solutions (not always what I want to hear) for everything I have run into with my '08 Explorer sync. There is a live support chat feature as well that I used for a Sync/Blackberrey issue I had recently. Or, you can just re-boot using the fuse... :shades: Good luck! Captainp4
Not sure Bob, I haven't had a first hand experience with the sync system myself. I think Deanh might know something, I've seen him talking about issues with phones connecting before and it usually ends up being on the phone end from what I remember him saying, just reading through the threads around here. Maybe try sending him a message.
strokinbeast
Cycling power usually is a very good fix for some electrical problems when equipment stops responding. First thing I do at my plant when something will not start.
Kev-Mo
Bob, Go to Syncmyride.com and register, use the resources there (community, chat) to find a resolution for your problem. Doesn't your phone automatically sync each time you enter the vehicle?

Doesn't your phone automatically sync each time you enter the vehicle? I will do that. and the phone sometimes will synch automatically and there are times it would not and I would have to hit the synch key. I've had this phone for 6 mos and I've just been putting off taking it back to the Verizon store. PS- good looking Torino. My second new car was a new 68 428 CJ, C-6- a notchback, not a fastback- would be a rare car today!
Pioneer
One thing I have found with our Sync system, if you remote start the car and the phone is out of Bluetooth range, you have to manually sync the phone. Don't know if that helps any. Just thought I would throw that out there.

It seems that many Samsung phones are problematic with SYNC, based upon my talks with the Sync "specialists". When you get to the dealer have him run a "vin-specific" compatability inquiry to see if your particular phone model is in fact compatable. E48- You might be right-although when I tried to get this squared away with the Sync chatroom, the tech had my phone serial number, came up with nothing and told me to take it to the dealer. Well the dealer had it yesterday and the bottom line is they had to order a part. I also got an earful from the service mgr about sync issues they have been having-less than complimentary. He also said I had all sorts of fault codes and implied I had pulled all sorts of fuses-which I did not-my son did it as I'm not athletic enough to get at the fuse block- dumb location-in any case he pulled only the correct fuse. The upshot however, when I pick the car up, it was working and has been. Not sure I want them monkeying with it now so I'll let them know before I bring it back-stay tuned. "ain't technology great?"

It was NG- They ordered another one and I got it back tonite. There is another thread running on this subject so I guess I'm not alone. Service mgr says I now have the latest update.
