They need more money for escape vehicles.
Langston Hughes
The US military buys all sorts of US made vehicles. I see both GM's and Fords at the recruiters office. This is stupid that everything is some stupid conspiracy to you.

The US government buys and has bought many hundreds of thousands of US made cars from Ford, Chrysler and GM and will continue to do so. 1,800 vehicles is nothing. You know why we make the comment about the Volt. It's Obama's GM flop and he is using MORE taxpayer money to prop up production for a vehicle NO ONE wants. It's Obama's GM flop and he is using MORE taxpayer money to prop up production for a vehicle NO ONE wants. Obama's GM flop? How is the Volt Obama's? Did he design it? Conceive of the idea? All he did was bail out the company who makes it, saving hundreds of thousands of jobs. Something any President who really cares about this country and the livelihood of it's people would have done. I guess to the right it is OK to bail out banks but not GM. The Volt is the first in a long line of cars of this genre that will help us get off our dependence on foreign oil. For those of you who remember the first Corvair, it was laughed at also yet twenty years later a lot of cars were using the technology first seen in the Corvair. Better than any other plug-in our there not even including Ampera made here and sold in Europe. Add those two together and you are up to almost 4,000 sales/month. Not as good as GM projected, but gaining ground and now up to about 60% of expectations. October should be an even better month with $5 gas in CA and Volt is huge seller there. Dealers can't get enough of them allocated to them.

Somebody is taking a bath on these. My friend is leasing one and said it's rediculous how much they bent to get him in one. He mainly wanted it for our carpool lane sticker (in CA we have carpool lanes on the freeways that require 2 or more prople in order to use them, electric and hybrids can be single driver). He says he hasn't filled his tank in 3,000 miles so far because his commute is 28 miles each way. His electric bill has gone up $25/month so far and charges it for free at work.
FiredMotorCompany
The only thing about the Volt that keeps Obama from becoming orgasmic is it's lack of a windmill on top.
