aneekr
Please describe the EPA tests. This EPA technical support document (dated December 2006) describes the five cycle test method used for light vehicle fuel economy estimates in the U.S. since MY 2008. There's some interesting ancillary information in the document, too.
RichardJensen
Thanks, I'm pretty familiar with the process. I made that request of the previous poster because I've often found it to be the case that people don't understand the thing they're criticizing or condemning. EBFlex
You mean a website that doesn't filter results by engine? Yeah, that site rocks. You can filter the results by engine, there is a drop down at the top. In a related story, the one Escape ever worth buying (a 2011 with a V8) is actually registered on that site and averages better fuel economy than the 4-banger! http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/escape/gas%20v8
jasonj80
Meanwhile, the Rogue passed the IIHS small-overlap crash test and the Escape did not. The Rogue failed the test as well, it got a "Marginal" score, not Acceptable or Good.
Ron W.
In a related story, the one Escape ever worth buying (a 2011 with a V8) Escape with a V8 ? I don't think so Tim
EBFlex
Escape with a V8 ?I don't think so Tim It's on the internetz. It has to be true.
RichardJensen
It's on the internetz. It has to be true. Thank you. That's exactly my issue with that site: 1 - you can't break down the engine to any level beyond the number of cylinders and 2 - they don't check your VIN against a database to obtain your engine information. Project-Fairmont
Quote...And BTW, my sister, who traded a MB GLK for her 13 Escape, still loves it and constantly tells me its the best vehicle she has ever owned. We did the same; a GLK for a '13 Escape Tit' 2.0 EB. About the only thing I say the GLK did better was its ride. The Escape is quicker, way more FTD, and gets better FE (avg 24mpg). The 3.5 V6 and 7 speed Merc drivetrain has a slushy shift feel and that 90 degree six sounds just like an Astro van - pouch!
