IMSA-XJR9
http://www.gtspirit.com/2015/06/03/ford-mustang-could-reach-v8-supercars-in-2017/ When Australia’s V8 Supercars racing series employs its expansive rule changes for 2017, a host of new entrants are expected. One of them could be the sixth-generation Ford Mustang which is set to go on sale in the land down under in the coming months. If the Ford Mustang is given approval to enter V8 Supercars, it will replace the locally-produced Ford Falcon which races in the series after its production run comes to an end from next year. While it remains unlikely the Mustang will appear under a factory Ford effort, at least one private team has already inquired about bringing the muscle car into the series. According to a V8 Supercars official, “A team has already expressed a desire to develop a Mustang. We want iconic cars, halo cars, on the grid and we are hopeful the Mustang will be one of them.” http://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news/ford-dealers-prepared-to-support-mustang-v8-supercar-in-2017-32327#.VXA4J89Viko Edited June 4, 2015 by IMSA-XJR9
bifs66
Anyone know the status of Penske's current and future involvement in this series?
IMSA-XJR9
One rumor . . . http://www.motoring.com.au/news/2015/bmw/bmw-penske-v8-supercars-link-51011 I've also read a couple of articles about FMC teams running next year, with little factory support, only to be re-supported by FMC in 2017 with the Mustang. All just rumors to date . . .

fuzzymoomoo
They run every week in NASCAR, right? Oh please. The only similarity to a production car a NASCAR racer has is 4 wheels and a steering wheel.

IMSA-XJR9
Hah! Though to be fair the Aussie V8 Supercars share a common chassis . . . they just do it better, in my opinion. (Understanding the technical regulations and final product/usage.)
