2016 Edge - 2.0L EcoBoost or 3.5Lv6?

Hi...I test drove both engines today. The salesman mentioned that there wasn't too much difference in these 2 engines and that the 2.0 is pretty strong. Mileage is a little better and of course, it is cheaper. They did seem very similar in power; I had not considered the smaller engine at all but I don't want to be disappointed after I've had the vehicle awhile. Any opinions?

The D35 has proven to be a reliable plant. The EB20 uses premium fuel for the higher horsepower rating BUT torque is unchanged on regular fuel. If you are looking for low to mid range grunt and are easy on the gas, the EB20 is a great engine. As said above, you can't go wrong with either.

I am currently getting an all around 26mpg on my 2015 2.0l. I was impressed with the 2.0l performance, coming off a 2007 3.5l Edge. I have read that they, for some reason, detuned the 3.5l starting in 2015. Is that true Kirby? If so why?

I did manage one time to squeak 30mpg driving the speed limits and feather-footing it on all the take off's on a 100 mile trip.

I really like the 2.0L in the Edge, especially since it can be extremely quiet and smooth around town. I would still prefer the V6 which does deliver noticeably better power on demand around town while the 2.0L EB still needs more spooling to hustle.

I believe the 3.5 was detuned from 285 to 265HP, basically pulling back on the 2011 upgrade which makes no sense but I'm assuming it's FE related. Still, I drive my sister's '10 Edge and it certainly feels peppier than the 2.0L EB in my Dad's 2015, but then again it also makes more noise while doing so.

Well, I did it...I purchased a 2016 Edge Titanium with the 2.0 engine. So far I am loving it, it has a lot of bells and whistles (of course they didn't come free) and it is very nice. Taking it on a decent highway trip soon and I am anxious to see how it performs...thank you for your opinions and I'm sure I will have more questions in the coming (years)...
