mechanic
Well, he have not got full details yet, but the painters, welders, tinsmiths, mechanics, and cleaners seem to be on the way out. millwrights will be greatly reduced because all machine moving and installation will be contracted out, as well as snow removal, and grounds maintenance. material handling is going to be taken over by vendors for the most part, and hi lo maintenace will also be farmed out. skilled trades will also be assigned to "non repetetive tasks on the assembly line" whatever that means. and line workers will be trained to do more of the routine repairs. in exchange for these concesions, we will save 300 jobs that would have went to Mexico

Does this plan also call for a reduction in numbers of trades? I'm curious as to the details of this arrangement. Let me know as they become available... davdog
:blah: but WE did not get to vote on it. and what jobs to mexico? is there a powertrain plant there? Dude you probably ought to get used to people who run companies being able to tell people who work at those companies how they are going to work. Maybe you can start up a company and have the workers tell you how things are going to be.

Maybe the membership at Van Dyke ought to get off their asses and start ASKING QUESTIONS AND DEMANDING ANSWERS--LIKE RIGHT NOW!!! The local does owe them that, IMHO. VDTRANSMAN
Maybe the membership at Van Dyke ought to get off their asses and start ASKING QUESTIONS AND DEMANDING ANSWERS--LIKE RIGHT NOW!!! The local does owe them that, IMHO. We already know what is going on. Did the bargaining committee volunteer the info, or answer honestly when asked? Of course not. Skilled trades are being cut in half. The new job will pick up most of the production emp's in AX4N. Buyouts are being offered, but there will not be anywhere near enough takers. Not surprised that the bargaining committee won't answer honestly, let alone volunteer the info. You are not alone on that one, that's all over and it's really sad in my opinion. Best of luck to all of you up there.
