When asked when the projected strike/defense fund would reach the just past constitutional amendment of 850 million, a member of the newly elected IUAW staff stated "oh umm by 2020 or 2021 umm I think umm maybe". Boys and Girls - Mom`s and Dad`s The end has come to another GREATEST SHOW on EARTH But please don`t be unhappy sheepies because the next show is not far away. Ladies and Gentlemen and Sheepies of all ages The IUAW Bargaining Convention is coming to Detroit very soon. All the same delegates will be supporting all the same decisions that all the new IUAW E-Board royalty will be wanting. Improved Retirement? Addressed job security? FCA voting down the contract wasn`t a set back? No, the parties continued and the new shotguns were given, the travel expenses were all taken care of and the security of signing your name with a 37 thousand dollar pen was setting in.... Change, the more they say the word the more it stays the same. Hey... activists any thoughts on a "change" in your methods of enacting your visions of a better union? Maybe our activist could push themselves away from the free booo fay`s or throw the free drink tickets away.....naaa never mind. Or... maybe the activists could start a protest outside Cobo and make a few calls to the media giving a heads up to the likes of Detroit Free Press, Detroit News etc.. Then move the protest (non violent) to the convention floor. Maybe, I don`t know? don`t take your seats when asked, all stand in the right or left (depending on political preference) rear corner of the convention floor? Abstain from voting, hold up a sign stating this delegation votes NO? One thing for sure our activists are not getting pro membership results with their current methods of protest, during any of these conventions. Can you imagine the news services coverage and the social media coverage if the delegates boycotted the convention by meeting out front of Cobo and not going in? Do the activists ever think about not sending a delegation from a local? Each local has to reach a pre set number of active/retired members to be present at a local membership meeting before any official business can be acted on. A quorum. What kind of message or what kind of reactions could be generated if the IUAW E-Board didn`t have an official quorum to enact official business? One thing that there needs to be no imagination to see, that is once again there are no results again at this point after the conn conn from any of our activists. Except the crickets.... Oh, wait a minute.... boycotting would mean not getting something on the delegates part.... lost time or expense's or free food or free drinks naaaa activists would never give up anything for those tier 2 or LTS or TPT members. Can`t wait for this type of support for the UAW membership.... The insulting wage increase for part-timers, which caps out at $15.50 by the end of the five-year contract, would leave hundreds of thousands of workers in poverty." "The fact that the "Teamsters proposed" hybrid drivers once again demonstrates that the “union,” is far from uniting and defending the workers and is nothing but a tool of management." "The Teamsters will not respond to rank-and-file opposition by negotiating a better contract, as the Teamsters for a Democratic Union (TDU) claims. Instead the IBT executives will try to wear down workers through contract extensions and, if necessary, impose the new contract unilaterally, as occurred in 2014. At USPS, where the contract for 200,000 members of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) expires on September 20, the union has already agreed in previous contracts to the establishment of “postal support employees,” a second tier of lower-paid, temporary workers who routinely work six-day weeks and forced overtime." Monica Morgan-Holiefield, 55, of Harrison Township, is the first person sentenced in a scandal that has led to criminal charges against seven people and reshaped the top ranks of the auto industry as FBI agents investigate all three Detroit automakers. Wearing a funeral black dress, she stared straight ahead as U.S. District Judge Paul Borman issued the sentence that capped the downfall of an accomplished photographer who prosecutors say succumbed to greed, living a high-flying lifestyle with money flowing from a conspiracy involving Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV and the UAW."This was not some slip-up," Assistant U.S. Attorney David Gardey told the judge. "It was a cold and calculated effort to get money for herself and her husband ... to satisfy simple greed." Morgan`s Attorney, Mr. Fishman told the judge that "Ms. Morgan has been dragged through the public mud," and that it would continue even after the day of sentencing. He said that the "good news" is that the alleged attempt to damage her image had not worked with the people who know her. The public, however, thinks Morgan is "a thief like her late husband," Fishman said. Fishman also noted that the judge would soon be dealing with the former UAW and FCA officials who had been involved in payoffs. The UAW issued a statement after the sentencing: "The misconduct of certain individuals in this case has been disturbing. Importantly, however, the wrongdoing did not involve union funds or affect our collective bargaining agreements. The salaries were paid by a directive that was issued to reduce costs to the UAW budget from such expenditures because the UAW budget was under pressure."
