FoMoCo Die Casts

Recommended Posts

I picked up 18 Ford 1/18 scale die casts this past weekend. A friend is selling off his approximately 400 piece collection and I was able to cherry pick what I thought were some of his best Ford pieces. I got several iconic Ford racers including Parnelli Jones' Ole Bull Baja Bronco and his '70 Trans AM champion Boss 302, three of Ohio George Montgomery's Mustang and Willys gassers, two '64 Thunderbolt drag cars driven by Phil Bonner and Les Richter, the '67 Fairlane Georgia Shaker super stock drag car driven by Hubert Platt, the original '70 F-250 Bigfoot monster truck, the '68 Shelby Trans Am Mustang coupe driven by Jerry Titus, a '66 GT40 MKII in Gulf Blue, several Boss and Shelby Mustangs including a '69 Black Jade Boss 429 which is identical to the actual car I owned back in the mid '70s, an R code 427 '67 Fairlane, a '70 Cougar Eliminator and the '68 Steve McQueen Mustang from the movie Bullitt.

He still has a few Fords remaining and tons of GM and Mopar cars including Bill Jenkins and Sox & Martin drag cars. He is a Mopar guy so there are lots of other historic Plymouth and Dodge drag and street cars all in excellent condition with the original boxes.

I have a large collection of 1:18 model cars I have been collecting since I was a kid.  I have them on display in my house in 3 glass cabinets.  I have pretty much every brand there is.  Of the Fords I have the following:

1934 Ford Convertible

1937 Ford Convertible

1948 Ford Convertible

1953 Ford F100

1955 Ford Crown Victoria

1955 Ford Thunderbird

1956 Ford Sunliner (2 of these one restored and one distressed was a special 2 pack.)

1957 Ford Thunderbird

1963 Ford Thunderbird

1969 Ford Torino Talladega

1993 Ford Mustang Mach III concept

1995 Ford GT90 concept (2 of these actually its my favorite car of all time a white and black one)

1999 Ford Mustang GT

2001 Ford F650 Super Crewzer
2002 Ford Thunderbird
2004 Ford SVT Lightning

1958 Edsel Citation

1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser

1990 Lincoln Town Car

1998 Lincoln Navigator

2003 Lincoln Navigator

2017 Lincoln Continental

If money was no object I'd have a whole hell of a lot more, I love the attention to detail on these.  Every once and a while I treat myself to one.  I definitely need more Mercuries though.  I'd love to get a 1970 Cougar Eliminator that's my favorite muscle car.  I ordered a 60s Marauder on eBay but it arrived damaged unfortunately.  I also really want a 60s Continental to add to the pack.  The one glaring omission from my collection that's not a Ford is a Delorean DMC-12 another favorite of mine.  I've seen a few but they are pricey may wait till Christmas to buy for myself on that one.

Of course there are some cars I would LOVE as a model that have never been made as one or never been made at 1:18 like the OG Taurus SHO, Lincoln Mark VII or VIII, 2003-2004 Mercury Marader, Lincoln LS.  And to be spoiled a 2017 MKZ Black Label preferably in Vinyard theme to match my garage.
