Steve in Denver
Is there a way to set the rear doors to stay unlocked? When I stop the car, I have to open the Driver's door before someone in the back seat can open the door either from the outside or inside. Yes, I have set the little twist things to unlock, and I have set the child switch thing on the driver's door not to be locked. But when I stop the car and my wife gets out, when she trys to open the rear door from the outside, it is still locked. I have to open the Driver's Door in order for the rear doors to be unlocked. And she has long finger nails and those stupid squeeze to open handles (I liked the handles on the 2020 Navagator better) and the door is locked, it often breaks her finger nails. akirby
Turn off autolock and it won’t lock the doors in the first place. But if you’re inside all you have to do is pull the door handle twice to open the door.

Steve in Denver Hi Steve in Denver and welcome to the Blue Oval Forums. What akirby stated. For passengers in their rear seats: A rear seat passenger can unlock their door and exit the vehicle by pulling the interior door handle twice. The exception is when the child safety locks are activated. Then the rear door/doors can only be opened by using an exterior door handle. Or turn off the Autolock feature and lock/unlock manually. Also, you do not have to open your door to allow her out of the back or allow passengers in. Just use the power door lock button on your drivers door to unlock the doors. You can even do it before you come to a stop when picking up rear seat passengers. Then all four doors will unlock for your passengers. All of this information and more is also covered in the Owners Manual. Good luck.

The reason I open the drive's door to unlock the rear doors is it is quicker than putting on my glasses and looking for the Lock/Unlock swithch, which I always seem to switch to lock when I try to do it wihthouit my glasses. It is nice to have the Lock on Drive-away option. It just would be nice to have an Unlock on Park option. And I just left the dealer, they dont know of a way to change it either. I understand. Unfortunately, for reasons of passenger security/safety, Lincoln/Ford vehicles do not offer an "Unlock on Park" option in the factory settings. Some manufacturers do, some don't, like Lincoln/Ford. Turning off Autolock is the only factory way to do what you want. Good luck.

akirby
What if you pulled up to a convenience store and were planning to wait for some sketchy folks to leave but your doors unlocked automatically and somebody opened the door and grabbed your wife? This way they don’t unlock u til you signal it’s time to get out by opening your is just Ford trying to keep you safe and CYA. Is it really that hard to find the unlock button? If I decided to stay, my wife would have already gone into the store. And I doubt they would be trying to get into the back seat anyway. Hi Steve. I'm only replying since you quoted my last reply. 😉 Again, I understand what you are saying and wish. However, akirby perfectly described just the type of situation I referred to when I stated "...for reasons of passenger security/safety, Lincoln/Ford vehicles do not offer an "Unlock on Park" option in the factory settings...". That is only one of many scenarios when your wife, other passengers, or yourself, would wind up with worse than the inconvenience of a missed button or broken nail. Yes, it is just software (or could include some hardware to make the change). And I am sure (or at least assume) a software code/guru could make the necessary changes. However, that ain't none of us so far. 🙃😉 Stay safe and good luck! 🍻

But it’s also extremely easy to just hit the unlock button.
