RazorbackFan78
In the F150 & Expedition forums I see the phrase "lockout my gears" quite a bit when people are discussing towing and how to keep the rpm's up, preventing the trans from going into gears 7 and higher. Do the 2018-22 Navi's have that lockout feature? If so is it only with the Heavy Duty Tow package? Pulling the camper today was my 2nd time. I used the +/- paddles behind the steering wheel to gear down when needed, which was a LOT on the rolling hills in our area. But after after 20-30 seconds the trans seems to revert back to auto-shifting and quickly moves back into 9th or 10th gear sometimes at 1900 rpms. Just curious if there's something i've missed in the towing menu for "locking out" specific gears while in towhaul mode. Thanks in advance! akirby
It’s not mentioned in the Navi OM but to activate it you just hit the - button on the shifter when in Drive (or paddle if you don’t have buttons). It should show 10th gear locked out. Press again and it will show 9 and 10 locked out. Use + to unlock.

Our P R N D are actually individual buttons on the dash below the touchscreen so there's no shifter per say. When i was attempting to lockout gears, i'd be in tenth and i'd click the -paddle down to seventh but it wouldn't show me 8 9 10 lockedout, it would just show me in seventh gear and then after 30 seconds or so, it would resume gearing up through 8 9 and finally 10. I'll try it again on my lunch break. Originally i tried it without the trailer hooked up and it didn't seem to work so I thought maybe it only works in towhaul mode (green trailer icon) so I tried it again yesterday when in towhaul mode but got the same result, it keeps advancing gears back to 10th. akirby
I don’t think you have that feature but tow haul should keep it out of the top gear or two.

Nope, tow/haul just changes shift points and holds it in lower gears longer. It doesn't lock anything out.
