Casey187
I’m currently looking at a car on fb marketplace and the owner claims that the car will only go up to 10 mph and has slight coolant and oil leaks and that the transmission is good. I’m hoping to buy the vehicle but want to know if I’d be better off finding something different or if it’s an easy fix. Thanks ahead of time! akirby
Absolutely no way to tell. Could be a valve cover gasket, coolant reservoir and a throttle body or a new engine and transmission.

He did say that the transmission was rebuilt but insists that it is good

It certainly does not sound like an "easy fix". However, there is no way to offer an accurate answer via blind Internet guesses, as akirby stated above. As just one example: It would be difficult to determine if the transmission is good, when the vehicle can "only go up to 10 mph". Unfortunately, the problem/problems could be any of a 100+ things, or any combination of those same things. The best way to possibly get some sort of answer would be to have a professional tech/mechanic/shop do a full in inspection. But even the ability of a good shop to inspect and offer a verdict would be limited. My guess is any competent shop will likely tell you to find something different, unless you want a long term project car. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
