MaytagRepairman
Any word on how the rollout will be compared with the Edge? I've waited nearly a year for the Edge but I am beginning to eye the new Mariner. It would be easier on my pocket book and I am concerned that the Edge is too wide to park easily in the narrow parking spots I have to deal with where I work and live. FLLMTR
I could be wrong on this, but I read somewhere that the Mariner was going to be released at the end (winter) of 2007. The 2008 Escape is going into production in January 2007. I was told it will hit the dealers in late spring.
MaytagRepairman
I kmow production is supposed to start January 2. What I want to know is if it is going through the same quality program the Edge is. That will give me some clue as to whether I can expect it at dealerships in February or in April. MaytagRepairman
Oh nevermind. I read the bad review topic. Edited January 2, 2007 by MaytagRepairman
wvujeb
The Mariner is supposed to be in showrooms in February. I am going next week to discuss pre-ordering the 08 Mariner Hybrid. The review by Edmunds doesn't really effect the hybrid. The hybrid has 4 wheel disc brakes and CVT. Obviously the gas mileage is better as well. The difference between a Mariner Hybrid and a similarly equiped V6 Mariner is about $3000. If you go with 2WD, after the $2600 tax credit, the hybrid is only an extra $400. How long will it take to save $400 in gas? If you go with 4WD, then you have $1050 to try to save, which may be a little more difficult. I could not get one because of it's reduced towing capacity....
