  1. Would you want to pay say $300 bucks for a pair of shoes because they where made by an American making $20 bucks an hour to put them together?
  2. But the Challenger is off a preexisiting platform that already has decent selling volume. What else is going to be built on the platform besides a GTO and Camaro to justifiy its cost?
  3. Well that 16 weeks of vacation I think is bit of an exggaration now...UAW gets what 2-3 weeks to start off with? not including down time for lack of production? Pay means more then just your take home salary...if you work for the UAW, how about putting out some $$$ towards those healthcare benifits like 99% of other people have too, who get paid less or even more then you do? Before you go off an say oh I have hard job...everyone has a hard job, just depends on whats hard about it..not to mention that there are pently of people who would do the same job that your doing say for $25 bucks an hour for $15 without a union.
  4. Theres still a market for full size SUV's and a very profitable one at that.
  5. OMG the article was even written by the Lienert's! :o :o :o :o :o
  6. Thats kind funny...my family had 2 escorts get well over 100K on them...a 86 Escort GT with over 200K miles still on the road in 1998 and a 92 Escort that had a 130K on it before it was flipped by its new owner...with just a intake vavle that needed to be replaced.
  7. More fuel for the Fusion fire...they just sold 12K units last month and a total of 19ishK CD3 Cars this past month.
  8. Nice article, but since when is the Fusion "piling up on the lots?"
  9. Shut up you troll! I've seen this same video and its pretty impressive, but I dont think that a gas powered Helix would have been able to do the same thing as the diesel powered one they had.
  10. I agree...works out to about 150K units every 12 months...
  11. The Notchback is dead as the Station Wagon Personally I rather see a Lincoln Mustang with IRS (to offset the development costs), so that higher End Mustangs can offer IRS or as an option in a handling pack. There really isnt a need for a Mustang based Cougar right now.
  12. Yeah but that isnt as major of a change like having the Mod motor put into it in 96 or going though 3 different heads in 9 years (2V 96, 2v Hipo 99, 3v 05+). Also not to mention most people who dragged raced when EFI came out pulled all that off and ran carbs The other change to the Fox Mustang was the addition of MAF in 1987.

  14. The biggest reason for the 5.0L success is its longevity without changing much for nearly 15 years! From 1982 till 1995, the Engine was found in the Mustang. This meant a large and willing pool of people willing to modify their cars after the warranty was over, more so then any other car then out in the market.
  15. The problem with your line of thought, currently the Zephyr starts at 29K and tops out at $34Kish with all the options sans any discounts/rebates. Taking a look at KBB shows that the ES350 STARTS at 34K WITHOUT a Nav system or anything that the Zephyr comes with. Even if the MkZ rises in price and they make AWD standard on it, it will still be a couple grand cheaper then the ES350. You and I know the MkZ and Fusion are related as are the ES350 and the Camry are. But to your jo-blow consumer, they don't know better for the most part. Personally I think you'd be stupid for buying a ES350 when you can get a Camry with the same options for cheaper, yet people still buy the Lexus. Its about the image that the car portrays, not what it is underneath to most people. I think most people are/where downright surprised by how successful the Zephyr has been, since it was pretty much beat up by everyone in on this DG, including myself. I'm seriously considering one possibility as my next car.
  16. Hey how about we do something different, like the Japanese do...keep the name but keep improving it! The First Civics, Corrorlas and Camaries where nothing to write home about, now they are household names and when someone asks, what type of car should I buy...you can fill in one of those three names I just listed before, because they've been around for years. Detroit needs to get away from dropping names every 10-15 years just because they can or just totally fuck it up
  17. A little bit of researching on KBB or Edmunds shows that its next to impossible to get that much in incentives on the Zephyr. I'd really like to know where they are getting their numbers on this because its not based in reality
  18. um not quite: http://www.fordf150.net/ford_news/ford-tru...record-2004.php
  19. I doubt it since they are part of the reason why they are building cars there...
  20. I guess its a matter of personal prefance, but it still doesnt take way from the fact that 3/4 of the rest of the cars look nearly identical?
  21. Thing I dont get is why people are giving Nissan a free ride on the new 07 Altmia and Maxima, when they look nearly identical to one another...what gives? People crucify Ford for sharing a 3 bar grill style, yet it has variations on each vehicle its used on :dunno:
  22. Give me a break... I think you say this shit just to stir up trouble... You dont win any points for talking out of your ass...
  23. wonder how well it fair in crash tests...its a damn lightweight
  24. We Do! because it artificially inflates sales of those vehicles...plus what are the resale values gonna be like. The Fusion and 500 totals should be about 30% (split 50/50) between them. I think Ford is content to lose market share with increasing their profitability.
  25. http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publish/vol...icle_1727.shtml And we thought Ford was stupid for going from Zephyr to MkZ
