When the union did away with equal pay for equal work they screwed themselves and the membership for head count and dues ( self serving Vs looking long term at whats best for the WORKERS).
Paying off union officials helps seal the deal.

It's the IUAW staff that is subject of corruption and misusing our dues money, NOT the company.
Want to hurt the people responsible, stop sending them dues $$$ and make them go back to the line, or prison.
The contract typically passes by 51% with few claiming they voted for it.
At out plant they use mechanical voting machines to vote for union reps but paper ballots dropped in trash cans then hand counted for contract ratification.
Some 20~30~40 year employees live check to check and will also sign anything for a lump sum payment.
These same people eager to get their signing bonus are among the 1st ones to criticize the union for a crappy contract....................I love hypocrisy.
Automation can result in better quality and consistency IF applied / tooled up correctly.
It also helps to minimize or eliminate many bad ergo jobs and redundant tasks.
The flip side is when you are totally dependent on automation working and a sensor, prox switch , cable or laser goes down.
It needs maintained and people that can keep it up and running correctly.
Paint finishes is one part of quality where the trained human eye is hard to match or beat, IMHO.

IMHO the UAW is self serving and protects the total screw up and is only focused on head count and people paying dues.
Remember the IUAW gave themselves a nice raise (at our expense) and I doubt the rank & file will see half of what they gave themselves in our wages or retirement.
