D471 is Fairlance and D472 is a Lincoln Fairlane, MKS is the D385. So far, I don't know where the 471/472 are going, but OAC is at the forefront. D385/E386 likely go to Chicago.

D471 and D472 are the Fairlane and a Lincoln version on the D3 platform. The previous W414's were on CD3 but were cancelled quite some time ago.
  3. CAP!??!? No way! They'll likely get the new Lincoln sedans though. Town Car will probably go to St. Thomas in mid-2007 after Wixom closes.
  4. Just asinine! Dictating what people can drive isn't going to save anyones jobs, riding Ford's ass to make vehicles that people actually want will!
  5. Ditto. Looks like OAC will be a winner here. There's no way Chicago can handle well over 400k units and 7 different vehicles.
  6. What's been overlooked is timing that Ford mentioned during the financial call, St. Louis goes idle in March and Wixom in June. Either Town Car is dead, or more likely, it move to St. Thomas with that $200m investment money.
  7. Boy, you called that one! :P Seriously, for the OAC folks, is the new flexible manufacturing system, paintshop, etc. capable of handling another platform like D3? I've also heard the Fairlane and Lincoln version for you guys.
  8. And added up, you're looking at several billion dollars in costs.
  9. What's happening at Wixom? I'm hearing L-M dealers are telling customers that the Town Car won't be available for order in a few months!!! I hope this isn't a sign that Wixom is going to go idle after the annoucement!
  10. Once the coolness of seeing it for the first time wears off, you see that's it's more generic luxury car design than something ground breaking. Also, if you removed the badges, you would be hard pressed to find anyone that could identify it as being a Lincoln. Even more ironic was at the preview a few weeks ago, Ford designers including Horbury were rambling on about American design and then they show the MKS, which is very un-American looking. Don't get me wrong, it's an attractive car, but come 2008MY, this won't be anything that stands out or be anything entirely special.
  11. Sorry to say, but St. Louis is closed beginning the week of 3/13. Ole' Billy Boy will announce it under the restructuring.
  12. Man, at this point it looks like anything is possible at Wixom! So far, we've got the road work signed off on again and now Atlanta is working on a secret incentive package for Ford. Sounds like they're getting desperate on their end in Atlanta. Anyone know for sure that Wixom is going to survive though? I'll believe it when Billy tells me for sure.
