  1. That gets my vote for post of the week. In an ever increasingly selfish world, it's important to remember what living in a society is all about. If everything was about our rights, we would never advance beyond jungle rule.
  2. Why not just beef up Medicare for low income earners and the poor, make it a true safety net? That way people would have a real choice between a national system and private health cover.
  3. Nothing to do with EU or even AU. North American Rationalization of engines and power trains, less engines = less engineers. Maybe that's the reason you and your buddies are no longer needed.....
  4. Ah, different government systems. People in commonwealth countries have greater trust of their politicians than Americans, The American system is so grubby and corrupt with lobby groups owning politicians.......
  5. Imagine a turbine the size of a six-pack, I wonder what that sucker would put out....
  6. No, it just some guys version of an extended range electric vehicle (like Volt) built on the existing S-max. He's hoping Ford will give him a wad of cash for something they already know......
  7. I sense the kiss of death coming to the Chrysler brand name.......
  8. Maybe they aren't bankrupt and full of deadbeats ready to repeat their previous mistakes.....
  9. I only mentioned the Malibubu hybrid because GM has surrendered.............
  10. Because of platform rationalization, there's probably going to be even less work to do.
  11. How ironic, the Crown Victoria look like the bargain of the century..... If it was all that easy, Ford would be doing a vehicle like the E7 for police departments already. Bottom line, there ain't no money in it like Carbon motors thinks.
  12. all I can tell you is that it has next generation heads and a different inlet manifold, let's just say Ford doesn't need DI to match hp and torque of a certain 3.6 from debtor's row......
  13. I could imagine Bodie and Doyle turning up in an Econetic Fiesta....NOT!!!
  14. Is it possible Ford could do a huge end run around the Volt? I'm thinking Ford could put out a similar vehicle (W/turbine) for considerably less money....
  15. How about a GT Mustang and a GT Falcon parked on your showroom, a nice pigeon pair?
  16. At least 60 hp and 30 lb ft. 4.0 Cologne: 210 hp/240 lb ft Duratec 37: +270 hp / 270 lb ft.
  17. I'm thinking the PFI 3.7 V6 Mustang will give the DI V6 Camaro a black eye in performance and fuel economy....
  18. Bingo! I think the bullshit alarm just went off....... Expressions of interest without cash deposits and firm orders are worthless figures.
  19. Amazing FJM, you and I had a discussion about extended range electric vehicles and mini turbines powering generators not so long ago. I wonder if the USA could substitute an LPG turbine instead of diesel for clean power? There are better options coming and I just hope Ford is the one that makes the transition first.
  20. That's one of the reasons why the 3.7 was nixed for the Falcon - a lack of bottom end torque. By comparison, the 4.0 I-6 has 290 lb ft available at 3,000 rpm and the 3.7 is 50 lb ft less at that point. Works for me, especially the Falcon's cheaper than Ecoboost PFI turbo.
  21. Given the results of the Aussie 4.0 I-6 Turbo, good power and efficiency gains can be had by going the simple and much cheaper PFI and turbo set up. For a truck application you could easily stick a couple of V6 turbos on the 5.0 V8 and get a wall of low end torque, who cares if the system runs out of puff above 5,000 rpm. Probably find the supercharger will do much the same thing with far less plumbing...........
  22. You can have a PFI turbo like the Aussie Falcons run or you can go the whole hog with Ecoboost which is Direct Injection, turbocharging and Bosch proprietary engine management system.
  23. OK, but that doesn't mean you won't get one either. EX FoA CEO Bill Osbourne indicated last year the company hadn't decided on S/C or Turbos, maybe FoA uses easy to build Supercharged engines while FNA uses Ecoboost for F truck and 'stang?
  24. Milan and Fusion hybrids are just brilliant, Malibu hybrid just couldn't compete.
  25. None of this is strictly for the consumer's benefit, it's legislation driven. Ecoboost enables Ford to continue providing the same size products on the right side of CAFE. Think of it that way and everything makes sense.
