  1. Probably not Volvo.... Ford sold Volvo heavy duty/Truck a couple years ago.
  2. Ya I know the Taurus is gone, was just trying to give reference point in time to when I was last in the armpit of Chicago. Gary, IN is a complete shithole and I don't think I could live within 50 miles of stinkin' Gary. I actually think CAP has a pretty good future. With the exception of the COA, but that's going to end up accross the board. CAP has the 500, Freestyle, Montego, Lincoln MKS. I'm not sure if the Mecury Meta (Freestyle) is on or off, but it could only help volume at the plant. Especially considering the Monteray (Minivan) is done. Chicago is a nice town.... I just don't think I could ever live there.
  3. You're right I don't and WON'T differentiate between FoMoCo and Ford NA. It's all the same company in the big picture. And I'm sure all those 14,000 white collar workers ONLY work on NA products. Also, our profit sharing is based on global profits not just NA. It's one world it's one company. I don't really want Ford to sell Jaguar. They wouldn't get any return on investment and whomever bought it would probably drive it into the ground further. Ford has (or had) plans for some significant new product including a major improvement in the S-Type and the return of the F-type is (last I heard) back on track. Aston Martin makes great cars, but it doesn't really matter if it is sold or not because it doesn't make much difference on the bottom line. They only sell <2,000 cars world-wide each year. I would love to buy one, because they look awesome but they aren't offered on A-Plan. :-) As for Volvo replacing Land Rover you've got to be kidding. The historical significance that Land Rover has could NEVER be replaced by a Sweedish company.
  4. ..Been looking for a place to post this.... In the mailing I got from Ford listing the buyout packages and the Way Fordward 2.0 'Talking Points' The first page was an email from Mark Fields which includes his email address. Anybody else thought about sending him what you really think? If you didn't get it.... it is...... mfield27@ford.com
  5. Ya know I'm wondering....Where do most people that work at CAP live? I've been around the plant area, it's not so nice.... How long are most commute times? What are the shift times? Now, I don't plan on transfering but I'm just curious.... :-) BTW -- The last time I was around the plant it was still building Taurus.
  6. I don't think Way Fordward 2.0 is finished yet. Deals such as selling Jaguar or Aston Martin may take a few more months to negotiate. Other Bold Moves, such as brand elimination or deeper ties (Alliances/mergers) with other companies may still be in the works. Ford should either move closer to Mazda or dump it and merge with Honda.
  7. Nothing to this story. The CFO's had a conversation, nothing came of it, period. No further talks, CNBC.
  8. I like the Reflex and hope it gets built, nearly as is. It be great if it was built here in the U.S. For some reason I've always liked small cars, though I'm a big guy. This car has a great shape and probably will have flexible cargo capcity; it looks to be a hatchback. I almost got a Mazda6 Hatchback, but the dealer wouldn't work with my trade-in. Ford needs a lot of help in design. Lincoln for example has no "halo" vehicle. Why does F,L,M not make a near-luxury or luxury coupe?????? Mecury should have a uplevel Miata, just don't call it the Capri. A headline, somewhere, today mentioned the possiblity of killing Mercury (again) and aligning Lincoln with Volvo. I don't think we need to kill Mercury but change is necessary. The dealer alignment should be: Ford Lincoln, Volvo (other PAG market dependent) Mercury, Mazda Make a Lincoln version of the C70 hardtop droptop. Also get somebody to work on the dash design at Lincoln, Have you seen the new Navigators dash????? OMFG 1977 all over. Drop the Mazda Tribute and Mercury Mariner, they've got the CX-7 and make one for Mercury. Make a Mazda9 based on the Montego/500 and like I said above a Miata for Mercury. Because Mazda is "sporty" the 9 could be the same as a 500 SVT. But Hey....I'm just an hour UAW employee what the do I know!

What plants are running during the first 2 weeks of October? It seems like almost everyone is down at that time.
  10. This issue has been ongoing for several years, even back when I still lived in Michigan. Here is one little known fact that most Michiganders DON'T know....that is Michigan ships waste to Canada in particular it is Toxic waste. I don't know if this still holds true but I would think both parties would be interested to know this.
  11. I think REP might be on that list as well. I would not have taken it as a good sign when they moved the proving grounds to Dearborn. Besides insn't Washington Township doing ok right now and that land might actually have some good potential value?
  12. I think I know what the results will be but thought I'd ask anyway.....
  13. Gee, isn't that interesting. Isn't that the same information (approximately) that the_wizard provided about 3 weeks ago? Go to one shift ASAP and close in the 2nd quarter of '07. It's still pretty rough in the plant people are CONVINCED that next Friday is it. I would be interested though 'Biggy' where did you get your NEW information? Thanks and have a nice day. BTW -- What happened to Mr. No Buyouts for NAP "TANK"
  14. I don't believe the Fusion is going to get the AWD model. I know that the Lincoln MKZ will have it though.
  15. It was also mentioned in my area today that this is Ed Hay's way of 'getting even' with low seniority, nightshift, calvin for bailing out of the union. If they decide to go this way its going to be a fucking disaster; Who's going to want to learn a new job or put in any amount of effort. .... Hopefully, they'll pull their heads out of their ass and do the right thing... or Ford could just run everyone for 3 weeks instead of 6 weeks one shift.
  16. Come on.... you do realize we're all have a little bit of fun here? It's call stress relief, group therapy. :happy feet:
  17. And you are? And your crediblity comes from where? Come on tell us something we haven't already heard, that's actually got some backbone.
  18. redrum.....redrum....redruM....redrUM....redRUM....reDRUM....rEDRUM....REDRUM :happy feet:
  19. Teeth? When did you get teeth? Did you go to the mouth doctor when u'sd layed off last week? BTW -- We've all heard about the off next week, it's probably not true. I like the one about nights having thrus and friday off, that's even better. The attitude is getting worse....let the group leader get it! On a halfway serious note.... anybody got a real idea when we are closing? Wiz said in his post about our plant that we are going to one shift in Nov (sooner then that actually) and not closing till "the second half of 2007)?
  20. Can you point me to where that quote is in the Detroit paper is with regard to DTP adding a third shift. I know Wiz has said it around here, and it may be true, but I haven't seen it in any quote from Ford management saying it's fact.
  21. Maybe if Rawsonville could make a quality alternator you could be making money at $63 each. How much scrap do you have? How are the FTT numbers? Not just in alternator but in die cast, housing and machining. It's not just one area that's killing alternator it's the whole plant. And I'm not saying its hourly's fault. Management is not allowing trades to truely fix the equipment when it goes down. Work together to build it right the first time which will lower cost improve quality and keep you alive.....alas it's probably to late for that....
  22. Rawsonville lost alternators and wipers in the last contract. I certainly can't believe Ford can't find someone else willing to sell them a alternator or wiper motor. Hell, last time I was at REP I saw Denso alternators being installed.
  23. Ya, And I'm the one around here full of shit. I suppose Chris Kimmons will be driving that tour bus. Ya, And I'm the one around here full of shit. I suppose Chris Kimmons will be driving that tour bus.
  24. Again I apologize for the speculation. I regret it. In Mr. Lee's letter from yesterday, posted under topic "NAP....FYI" he says he'll have another communication on Monday, August 21. This communication is supposed to be on how we are going to run on one shift. Ford has in the past given employees not a lot of time to make a buyout decision. When we go back Monday we have 3 weeks unitl we start our September layoffs. For the rest of the year the plant will either be down or on one shift. The 5 straight weeks of layoff for the whole plant would give them time to sort through the people electing to take a buyout or another offer. Whether its Monday or January the end is nigh and you we will be offered buyouts. Again though I apologize for the speculation.
