  1. Gary- If this is really you and I have no reason to believe it is not, I admire what you have done to try and defeat this latest round of concessions. We at KCAP were one of the few assembly plants to vote down concessions in the past and I can only hope that our percentage of "NO" votes increases like local 900's did. There is a time and place to change the contract and it is not now. I still am baffled that the IUAW would agree to more concessions when less than 8 weeks ago the locals told them they could not take another concession package to their membership at this time. Then the IUAW agreed to negotiate with the company once again in disregard to what each local had told them. Now I hear very view of the voices trying to get their membership to vote this down at the local levels. I am glad to see that you have stood strong and continue to disagree with the concessions. Hopefully the membership can see through the companies empty promises and commitments and vote "NO" on these concessions. If the company has already committed to new products and new body shops in the past why do they need more concessions to recommit. Mr. Mullaly stated after the last concession package that he was very happy with the relationship that Ford and the UAW had and was happy with the current agreement. Now that GM and DCX have filed bankruptcy he wants more. If Ford is profitable with the current contract I see no reason for more.
  2. http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20091021-709951.html here is the piece of the article that I loved the most. "There may be gripes, but we really have no choice," the UAW official said in an interview with Dow Jones Newswires on Wednesday. "It will pass with no problems. The union is not going to give anything less than what it's given GM and Chrysler." I for one say we do have a choice. That choice is a "NO" vote. The article also talks about how analyst are expecting Ford to post a profit again in the 3rd quarter. Yeah... Right after we take our concession vote. Once again VOTE NO!!!!!!
  3. Not sure about KTP or LAP but KCAP is on board with the Hell NO. Or should I say the rank and file are on board with the NO vote. I havent heard much from any of the elected officials and what their position is on this concession package. Hopefully they will have some back bone and stand up like the Detroit local and say NO as well. Only time will tell. Anybody want to take a side bet on 51-49 pass?
  4. If KCAP adds the 3-crew back into the mix on the SUV side then the TRUCK side will go back to one shift and DTP will add their 3-crew back to make up for the loss. Not to say that the truck side will not go to O/T at KCAP but I think it will be on one shift and not two. Just my opinion of course.
  5. Currently there are 8 Saturdays scheduled between now and the end of the year in SUV. That does not include the voluntary Fri. and Sat. next week. The Truck side is looking at going to O/T starting in Sept. or Oct. with a couple of Saturdays which have material protected for. Of course that is dependent on what Detroit does with their 3-crew.
  6. We have used Wet on Wet for sometime now on the Truck side at KCAP.
  7. I heard a rumor the other day that they are going to transfer the "C" shift from DTP to CAP so they can add another shift at CAP. Like I said it was just a rumor but it does make since if they are not going to go back to 3-crew at DTP. I guess maybe they are waiting to see what the nuew Taurus sales are like. Anybody from DTP or CAP heard anything like this? Good luck to all.
  8. How many shifts are you running at CAP? I heard that you only have one shift building the Taurus at this time. If this is true do you have a large number of people on TLO? Thanks for the info..
  9. I guess my sarcasm didn't ooze through like I thought it would. Yes, I was kidding.
  10. Ford only received $16,279 per vehicle while GM sold each of theirs for $16540. Then there is Chrysler who sold the fewest but received the most money per vehicle $17707. Now who got screwed?
  11. I know that Ford already went through the effort to sell the Mondeo (Contour) in the US but they have made so much improvement why won't they try again. With so many people moving towards mid size cars and out of SUV's and Trucks let's put another sedan on the market in the US. It will take sales from the Fusion I'm sure but if we can build the Mondeo in the US who cares if it takes Mexican Fusion sales. Besides it will also take sales from the imports as well. Put the Mondeo at KCAP or LAP and send the Transit back to the grave. Nobody wants that ugly looking delivery van. I'm sure they will find a limited number of small business owners to buy one but it is going to be a very low volume vehicle. If Ford must build the ugly thing find a way to build it on the same line with the Explorer, the Edge, or the Flex. Then tool up a plant that was going to get the Transit for the all new Mondeo. Here is a link for the Modeo. I like it but maybe it's just me. http://cars.about.com/od/detoursanddiversi...Ford-Mondeo.htm
  12. This may sound crazy but you heard it here first. WAP will not only build the focus but they will also be given the replacement for the Ford Escape in 2013. This vehicle will be the ford KUGA. Sorry LAP looks like the KUGA will be going to WAP (sure wish they would leave it at KCAP). The Transit will go to KCAP (wish they would send it to LAP) and not sure what product that leaves for LAP. Maybe they have some top secret vehicle in the pipeline that Ol' Ronnie-boy helped develope. That or they are going to say goodbye to LAP after Ol' Ronnie-boy retires next year. I don't want any plant to close but something has to give with the current market vs the plant capacity.
  13. He is gone. Wish I knew the real reason. I have heard several different rumors about why. One of them is that he wanted to be fired because the severence package was so good for someone at his level. We will probably never know what really happened. Now let's see how long it takes for his family that works at KCAP to transfer to another facility. I don't think they will get near the protection from the future plant manager.
  14. Glad to see that I'm not the only one that won't let a foreign vehicle change lanes in front of me. My wife tells me they don't know why you are being a aS#@le. I tell her I don't care if they know because it makes me feel better.
  15. Here is a link to the article concerning 4 new plants which will build batteries for different automakers. The Company out of Lee's Summit, MO is really close to KCAP. Maybe they will keep the plant local. http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/ticker/ar...37&Symbol=F
  16. He received his bonus check for the first quarter in cash and requested security to escort him to the Caymen Islands so he could deposit it.
  17. The reason SLAP was not offered a transfer was because LAP was not taking the product from them. Lap was already building the Explorer. When CAP begins building the explorer the emploees at LAP should be offered a transfer to CAP since it will be a new product being built there and they are taking it from LAP. I haven't read the language in several years but I will go back and read it when I get back to work and see if the plant losing the product must also be closing before a transfer of operations takes place. If there is anyone that has the language with them could they please respond since I am on layoff for a couple more weeks. No I will not be going in on my own time any longer, I work only when I get paid now. Sorry.
  18. If they will commit to buying hybrids, BUILT IN THE UNITED STATES, I will switch my service over today. I have a feeling that a large percentage of those hybrids they buy will be the MEXICAN Fusion. If only Ford would move production of that vehicle to a American plant. I know I would buy one at that point.
  19. The "ESCAPE CLAUSE", are you trying to tell me you know where the Escape is going to be built in the future? Come on don't hold out on us we all want to know. Is it LAP, KCAP, or CHINA?
  20. Maybe he still hasn't learned his way around the plant floor yet. Afterall he is from St. Louis. Just Joking TR. Keep up the fight.
  21. That is a sharp looking car. I was skeptical at first with just the picture of the back but once I went online and found the rest of the pictures I was very impressed. Get ready CAP. I hope you can't keep up with the demand!
  22. Dont's blame it on Wright, he has done everything in his power to notify the membership as he finds out the facts. The rumor of the SUV side being down the 30th of March popped up Friday late afternoon. The UAW hasn't had the time to put out a flyer concerning the downweek. I imagine you will see something from the UAW this week. Jenkins did confirm the rumor of the downweek though along with the parts plant that provides seats for the SUV. They are going to be down as well. If they have already been notified by MP&L it is as sure as it gets.
  23. Why would you say that? As of right now the downweeks will not count against your SUB credits. If they agree to rotate downweeks and start to count them against sub credits then I would agree with you.
  24. I thought I read that the Transit Connect would be imported from Turkey? Maybe I read that wrong. I will have to look for the article when I have more time.
  25. I like how they waited until right after the stock market closed to announce this information today. Ford stock is dropping like a rock once again in after market electronic trading. If I only would have sold my stock at the close of business yesterday. Come on Mr. Mullaly a little insider information never hurt anyone. Except maybe Martha Stewart.
