  1. The old timers always used to say of rumors.......Do not believe anything you hear and only half of what you see.
  2. Isn't production there maintained by a different local? If so, this is where it may confuse some. I believe there were changes recently to this to make it similar to all the other operations (having an in house population to draw from before posting zone).
  3. I didn't realize that the average autoworker makes decisions to make better cars...silly me. Doing work that can & does wreak havoc on the strongest of bodies should not get consideration for decent pay? Manufacturing vehicles that are designed to carry families 70 mph down the road and keep them safe is not worthy of being important? Your comments are flawed, unrealistic and uninformed.
  4. You information is correct. It started this week in fact. How effective it is remains to be seen. In my estimations, if they manned the whole plant this way (this "pilot team" is dedicated to only 2 depts), there would be a shortfall of people to go around. Sterling trades have always complemented each other very well. As the populations have dwindled, this has become even more evident.
  5. They will be in and running on Jan 3rd, if I am not mistaken.
  6. Stu, I know where you are coming from and I happen to feel the same way. The bottom line however, is that our reps all took oaths. Hence, they are obligated to represent everyone, even the pukes. This is a major reason why many good people will not come forward to serve. With these jobs one must deal with some hypocrisy, and for some, any hypocrisy is too much hypocrisy.
  7. Hold on Stu, you talking V/D, not Sterling, right? Are you saying a concrete job is being outsourced there? I certainly hope not and if so, the boys at V/D oughta be raising hell.
  8. Well, that didn't take very long! Lol!
  9. Thanks for proving my point. As far as your "imagination" goes, I doubt you are old enough to be my father. Maybe you are one of those near 80 year old people still having to work? If so, sorry to hear that you made that many bad decisions in life. However, if I was unfortunate to share your genes, I would make sure to not procreate.
  10. I had no idea there was a rash of 747's exploding because of those cigarette smoking refueling people. Come on, these scenarios are ridiculous at best. Do you know why people on here are so quick to figure out who you are when you change identities? Within a few sentences, you are usually figured out. It is because of your narrow mindset, which stands out remarkably so. You see the world in black and white. You have no idea of what "gray" means and chances are you never will. For instance, say a veteran hilo driver likes to have a beer or two with his soup and sandwich at lunch. In your eyes, this guy needs to drawn and quartered. Now, compare this to a rookie hilo driver who is going through a stressful situation, say a divorce. He has not ate or slept in days. He is strung out on red bull, coffee and cigarettes. This guy is not breaking one rule at all. I take the veteran guy ALL DAY LONG over the jitterbug rookie. The bottom line is that anything in excess is bad. You are ready to crucify those that do not go beyond the excess. Sort of like throwing the baby out with the bath water. Worry about your own actions instead of others (i.e. be defensive going down that aisle to the bathroom). If you don't agree with liberty, you should not inhabit a liberal country. BTW, if you rely on only one news source, you are doing yourself a disservice.
  11. I cannot believe some of the reactions to this. If you think this type of behavior doesn't exist in any other industries, at all levels to boot, you have reality isssues. This should be dealt with by the company only. Fox, or any others have no business with this. Think that these newspeople have no dirt on them? Wrong! Hey, that would be a good idea-go undercover on these clowns, dig some crap up on them. For reasons of self interest, the competition may not be willing to air this. If this were the case I would suggest youtube. Look, I am not defending the people that got caught doing this whatsoever, just saying that this is not something just autoworkers do, nor is it something that just started happening. These investigative reporters are a joke. Get a real job!
  12. I think the eventual IPOs for the other two has some long standing effects on F also.
  13. I too am both thankful and proud. But we need not stop here. We need to get the transit here along with anything else we can grab. We have lost too much between axle shaft maching, drive shaft production, case machining, dept. 17, etc. ,etc. Sterling needs to be filled up asap. There is also a storm brewing. Seems that Sterling managment is trying to bring in contractors again. Our trades have proven themselves capable time after time. This is a slap in the face. While I have faith that our chairman will hold his ground, this could still get ugly.
  14. Not only does every Ford worker need to be working, they must also be working at a Ford facility also.
  15. Not even a mention about the hourly concessions saving them a ton of $. Just fills my heart with joy that I could help invest in the foreign operations. What a joke.
  16. 1. All employees must be placed before lower wage workers are hired. 2. 20% ratio is for all plants EXCEPT rawsonville & sterling, which are up to 100%.
  17. You speak the truth 228, this is commonplace here anymore. The good news is everything in the plant is getting older and the longer they wait to start doing things right, the more drastic the change. Pay now or pay more later. Another one that leaves a bad taste is running production with no trade support. While all areas have done it, the annex is famous for it. Bad. They are gambling with company money. Or worse, a production worker with good intentions gets hurt or killed. This is not good business.
  18. The Sterling Heights plant mentioned in this article is the Van Dyke Transmission plant, not Sterling axle. Sterling is "supposed" to get new work, but no official declaration. I believe it will be a proverbial carrot come contract time.
  19. Don't get me wrong, I am glad the company I work for is doing well, but what customers are they targeting with all these vehicles? Unemployment is out of control in this country and fords remaining workforce is wary of buying new vehicles. These vehicles/jobs need to be here, in the good ole USA!!!
  20. Thank you Fired. Very, very well stated.
  21. Wow. That is extreme. An owner/operator cannot smoke in his own rig while truckin down the road? What if you work at home? Are you subject to search and fines? I sure hope the states don't go this route. Guess we'll have our freedom of choice, as long as we choose what we are told to choose!
  22. I know that some of the ford facilities are already smoke free. These places usually have smoking "shelters". I am wondering about the plants that you can currently smoke in. I have not heard of any plans to accommodate smokers at Sterling. Just some cessation literature. How do you see this playing out at your location? Any talk of accommodating those who do not wish to quit? How will Ford enforce this? Will this affect the operations at your location? I believe this new law will be interesting at the minimum. Both how Ford handles it and how the workers react to it.
  23. I think this guy changed his mind. Heard he was here for a few days then decided to leave, not sure why.
  24. No, it's not. I've seen production stay down because they were out of 1/4-20 bolts. Really. The best though is when you search stores, find the part you need, see it is in stock but when you go to get it, you are told they are out. How can just in time manufacturing save money when they have to cab parts in weekly?
