  1. Didn't I read what the code is for the 4.10 axle with the FX4 EB in this thread? Anyone recall what it was? LX4 or somethign like that? Help pls...
  2. Putting on larger rubber? Driving in lots of mud/sand? Pulling extreme loads? Any of those = 4.10 All no = 3.73
  3. GM found that their unit performs a bit better at high altitude. So they sanctioned that test. Given the extreme nature of the test, theat little gap looks huge. Thats fine. They can out pull the Ford. Its a lesson for Ford, they need to work a little harder to close that gap. Competition is wonderful. Ram will have their 8 speed soon and that will also close the gap and in the half tons, may do wonders?
  4. If they are taller then they will last longer too.
  5. - Your 2000 was much lighter - TQ. Your 5.4 still had 350ft/lbs down low.
  6. A dealer showed me the updates and the 4.10s are still not listed.
  7. 5.3L Chevy is one example. 4 speeds did better with 4.10s vs. 3.73s
  8. Not all engines use more with a steeper rear end. Your tow rating goes down with 3.55s, if thats not an issue, thats fine then I guess. Doesn't it drop from 3.73 to 3.31s?
  9. Thanks for posting. It does allow the 4.10s now too. (FX4/Max tow/ 20s)
  10. The other things is, if I could, I'd get a 6.2L in a FX4.... and a EB with 4.10s will still do much better mpg than a 6.2L.
  11. When I've looked they've both been @ 31.9 but a diff brand of tire can change it slightly. (You get a 275/65R18 with the spare) I'm going to add 10 ply toyos which will be the same or a bit taller (pending which is actaully available!). Not all engines use more fuel with higher gearing. We don't know on this one? May totally depend at what speed you drive at. I think of it this way. If I was to go with a F250/6.2L I'd order the 4.10s so why wouldn't I with a half ton? Thats a it simplistic but one of my considerations. So far the Cdn dealers say no mention of 4.10s anywhere despite being in brochure and towing guide etc.
  12. OK Thanks! That answers 1/3 of my question. Part 2 is: Why is the 4.10 available (and why only FX4 with 20s) and part 3 is will it work in Canada? Any Canadian dealers out there?
  13. Probably 2wd 3.15 and 4wd 3.31 3.73 available with max tow. 4.10s reportedly available with FX4, 20's and max tow but still not confirmed. VERY frustrating. I need to know. Order pending.
  14. I didn't think there was any diff in regards to what you speak of? I think they are all the same.
  15. Yup that pkg is a no brainer on a XLT/XTR in Canada. Gets you e locker, skid plates, a/t tires and diff shocks. Great price for all that!
  16. "Most of Canada"s population is within 100 miles of the US border so its not an issue for 90% of us.
  17. Spoke to a couple dealers... No 4.10's on any 2011 F150 in Canada. Interesting...
  18. Copyright Power Kid. :shades: Oh heres the link to where I posted the 4.10s being "official" back on Dec 6th. http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/41831-job-2/page__st__40 It was listed earlier here: http://www.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/towingguides/11FLMRVTT_F150nov18.pdf NOW I'd like to know if any CDN dealers can confirm the 4.10s, AND post the Job #2 order guide updates.
  19. I see Ford Canada has updated the Build & Price site to match Job 2 updates. Now if you build a FX with Lux pkg you CAN add the TT mirrors. Only thing is no 4.10 option listed. Perhaps not available in Canada? Dealer tells me they have no confirmation on that either...
  20. Impossible to know given we don't know how strong the resale value of the EB will be. If there are any issues, then the 5.0 will be a better buy no matter what the MPG offset.
  21. Look at it this way. Most of Fords trims you get the 3.5 EB with the max tow pkg. ( lariat + you can get 6.2L or EB) With the Gm twins you ONLY get the 6.2L with the max paload pkg. Thats why I want to see that comparo. That said I agree, 6.2'ls are VERY rare outside of denalis.
  22. JDF, if towing mpg is THAT important to you, then don't you require the max tow pkg anyway? I'm know your aware the 5.0 and Max tow are not allowed together. (thats a whole diff debate) I'm kinda glad cause that would be a tough decision. To me the payload #s are just too low to even consider a non-max tow truck. But thats just me. I'm not sure you'll ever get the answer you've been looking for re towing mpg. Thing is there may not be "a" answer. Perhaps the EB does better with 3,000 lbs, but the 5.0l would do better @ 5,000 lbs on flat terrain? Perahps the EB does better with 10,000 going up the rockies? SO many variables. And then you compound that with 3.73s vs. 4.10s and on and on.... In any event I suspect the difference will be so small, it wouldn't impact the overall decision. But we all have diff criteria. Fair enough.
  23. You did not make a mistake. You'll be very happy.
