  1. Best wishs to your injured co-worker and family. I really wonder and you committeeperson should too. Why weren't the racks bolted to the floor? When the company (if) tries to blame him maybe that would be a good question. In Windsor we always have to anchor bolt the racks to the floor before use. Hoping for a speedy recovery!
  2. Windsor voted yesterday(Saturday) at 2
  3. Absolutely right, GM and Chrysler have guaranteed the government to those levels. Who is Ford commiting to? What if they don't? Sorry Ken can't do it, really feel bad, but tough shit. St.Thomas people if it is all about the "PATTERN" GM Transmission got $125.000, pro-rated pensions and 35000 car vouchers http://www.caw199.com/pdf/2008-gm-bargaining-report.pdf bottom of page 4 THAT IS THE PATTERN.
  4. Listen Pal we have lost more people than you ever had! (I had a master number in the 62xx range there too.) We need to fight for everybody no new work for WEP and STAP vote NO
  5. Great! Ford will take the 10 cents per unit per worker or about $100 each a day, not 10 cents total....
  6. GOOD! I wasn't advocating a yes vote, Just have never seen a no vote, heard Oakville does it.........
  7. Like EVERY other vote in Windsor, and probably St. Thomas, the union president gets up and says "If we don't do this we are closing at the end of this product, Romeo, Lima and Cleveland will give anything to get the next product. So hold your nose and say YES" Well we have gone from 6000 workers to what 1200 after voting YES for everything they wanted. Guess what the vote will be yes this time as well because what choice do you have?
  8. NO Only because Windsor has already closed the annex, foundry, Essex aluminum most of essex engine and nobody gave a shit about us
  9. Yes we did know it was coming. Chyrsler and GM have an advantage of 13 - 14 bucks an hour in Canada plus the $3500 payment we received. All they have to say is Romeo can build any engine Windsor does and Chicago can build anything Oakville does. Lewenza and the boys say where do we sign...... But the CAW is right to wait until the UAW settles (again) with Ford to see how to get competitive.
  10. Went to a presentation by Sym Gill, CAW pension specialist. At the last reporting date, which was before the market meltdown. The canadian pensions were funded, on a wind-up basis: Ford 73.5% GM 57% Chrysler 91% but with market losses Ford estimate was mid 50s This link is all the facts about how a pension wind-up works....at least before Mcguinty passes his new budget with rule changes... http://www.caw.ca/en/5213.htm
  11. http://www.windsorstar.com/Cars/Duncan+ple...2359/story.html I think someone from 1520 better get on the phone to Dwight Duncan...He can personally save the Chrysler minivan plant, then why the hell can't he save Talbotville?
  12. "The factory currently assembles V8 engines for pickup trucks and SUVs -- vehicles facing slumping sales as North American consumers shift to smaller, more fuel efficient cars because of higher gasoline prices." Wrong! The plant quit making V8 engines 3 or 4 years ago when the 3 Valve was done launching.... It was making the 4.2L V6 when it closed last December
  13. I wonder where the equipment OEMs will get the people to make the equipment fast. China? I know most of the American suppliers have cut way back on people. Toyota, GM and Ford will have massive retooling campaigns all at the same time, hmmmm maybe ABB shares are a good buy.....
  14. You found a link to a blog from April and you think its good news for Romeo....... The latest news is MUCH BETTER FOR WINDSOR they have approved building the engine at SX not just cranks etc for Romeo's 6.2l which has been all but cancelled. I work with vendors every day who say all tooling for the Romeo plant is on the back burner, 5.0 is full speed ahead. Do I know what will happen in the august way forward part 4 (is it 4 or 5), no. but right now SX is full speed ahead.......
  15. Vent away......The 5.0l is for mustang and F100 too. Does the 4.6L die?
  16. Don't worry the 5.0L work at essex is proceeding very nicely.
  17. The cranks are balanced in the crank dept. before they are assembled to the con rods or even in the block. Hope that helps.
  18. Today? They were in a meeting for phase two... V10 line going down in august, announcement will be tuesday...just keeps on getting worse............
  19. Millwrights, Pipefitters and Machine Repair amalgamated as IMM trade. People already have been going to St. Clair college for skills updating. At skilled trades meeting 2 weeks ago told you will need aug 1994 to stay in trade. Tinsmiths and welders are red circled, which means trades go away eventually. Most production workers trained as IMS at local college to do minor maintenace, course is 1 month. Site manager says whatever they are comfortable doing, go ahead and do it. Trades are fighting this of course. He says they can adjust, or change limit switchs. change details for part touching. Way more than we would have ever dreamed. Theres more, but you get the drift. in our area exactly 1/2 of the mechanical people will be reduced. Electricians ARE BEING EVALUATED, so they better not think they won't be touched.
  20. Yes the trade classifications changed FREEEEKING BIG TIME in Windsor.
  21. They aren't looking very good for june to sept. either....WEP keeps getting production cuts. What they announced last week was doubled today. V10 production was actually raised this week, wonder how long that will last.
  22. Our committeeman is going to T. O. for the hard sell, oops I mean a briefing on Friday. I'm sure details will trickle out Friday night or sat. There is a petition going around Windsor to give us details this weekend and delay the vote to next weekend. People want a chance to make an informed decision on this very important contract.
  23. Windsor's ratification vote is set for this Sunday at the Caboto Club at 6pm http://www.cawlocal200.org/
  24. "The CAW says local agreements should be reached this week." from Detroit News site http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../804280421/1361 and from local news reports on AM800 and A Channel news........ which means nothing official
  25. HELLO we might ratify as early as this weekend........... what they said ^
