The change from the tried and true and easy to program Homelink to the awful Lear unit is something I experienced a few years back when working at a Cadillac Agency... big thumbs down to the Lear. All I can think of is the Lear unit must be $$/unit cheaper. There is NO advantage that I can see over the Homelink.
Have to agree with you there, what really makes me chuckle is when the "journalists" bemoan the lack of shift paddles. I mean really, what did we do before then, rowed the funny stick popping up out of the floor, with THREE pedals no less....
Here is the Ford SSM on the engine cover delete....no reason other than deleted stated
21897 2012 FOCUS TITANIUM MODEL ENGINE COVER
THE ENGINE COVER FOR 2012 FOCUS TITANIUM MODELS HAS BEEN ELIMINATED IN PRODUCTION AS OF 5/16/11
I couldn't have said it better. I remember getting my first Mustang GT back in '82 (an early '83 model 5.0 4V w/SROD trans), That was an engine I loved to show off! And it put out a whopping 177 HP!!
Generally, Ford only discontinues items like engine covers when they may cause problems like a drivability concern. (Excessive underhood heat may cause fuel percolation issues, this would be especially problematic with a DI engine.) But also it is possible that they may be doing this on the cheap as well....
This is absolutely normal. when rain sense is selected, upon startup the wipers will sweep once as part of the module's self test process...this is not exclusive to Ford's system. GM's works that way as well.
Looks like it might not be so bad after all..
Here is a pic of the console area showing lower panel and EATC module installation, FYI.

Looking at the shop manual (They no longer have a step-by-step remove-install instruction) you need to remove the console-or at least the side panels and most of the top to access. I agree with DerekC..have your Ford Store do the work...also hopefully someone Michigan Assembly is monitoring our forums and taking note of issues posted here.
It is in actuality an eight-way seat. power fore-aft (2),power front up down (2),power rear up down (2) and power recliner (2). A nice feature for the C-segment. Oh, and add the manual lumbar too!
A little FYI, If the car is fitted with split-fold seats you get the fold forward seat cushions, the full fold seatback is stuck with the non flip forward lower cushion.
Kona blue looks awesome on this car..saw a base SE at a local dealer and it was stunning..the Build & Price website cannot even come close to how beautiful this color is on the Focus.
@svtenthusiast -Not to be a noodge here, but there is a reason that MFT cars are being held back..there is a hardware or software problem that is preventing Ford from shipping these cars. Having spent 20+years with Ford dealership service departments on the front line (Service Advisor, Dispatcher and Manager) you can bet after some of the troubled launches (MkI Focus and 2002 T-bird come to mind) I have been witness to, Ford is going to be damn sure that MFT equipped Focii will be as perfect as humanly possible. I know that will not soothe your dissatisfaction regarding the situation but it is what it is as far as I can tell.
