F150 EB Hitting 1Million in Sales
MGolden replied to ANTAUS's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I run into a lot of them in commercial use (f150 3.5L), mainly oil and gas. From what i know they are holding up very well; and they dont have any easy life. -
It would be nice to know the power figures before you order a new truck, correct? Any idea when that will happen?

2017 Superduty order guide?
MGolden replied to MGolden's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Thanks to Ice for posting the order guide in the section at the top of the page, just under the banner. one change I found interesting is that the new cab increases the wheelbases by 4" to 6" depending on the cab/bed config. The new f150 cab does feel WAY bigger than the current superduty, especially in the back seat. no indication of a new engine and 10 speed that was hinted about. And of course no HP/TQ numbers yet. Also note, 48 gallon fuel tanks on the crewcab long bed! Is there an auto show or something coming up where they will be revealing the HP & GCVW numbers and maybe any other "secrets" ? -
Yes aftermarket rails let you add seats to cargo . Call Tristar Motors in Blairsville, Pa. Ask for commercial vehicle dept. and they could give you details.

I have a quigley e350, 2010 model and plan to upgrade to transit quigley someday. They use f150 hubs, spindles and differential so as to continue with using as many stock ford parts as possible for dealer service. We rented a 15 passenger transit 2 weeks ago for work training. It was great! A local dealer to me is stocking aftermarket rails and seats to add to the cargo version because it is a popular upgrade.

2017 Superduty order guide?
MGolden replied to MGolden's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
So if the order guide is out in the spring, when might they release more details about the powertrains, and capabilities? Is there an auto show coming up that would be fitting to telease that information? -
Does anyone know when we could expect the order guide to be released for the 2017 Superduty? The Ford site says they (trucks) will be available late 2016.

Is this new "6.2L" not being launched in the 2017 Superduty? or is it a silent move to bitch-slap the competition when it is launched. This might explain all of the strange language about the 6.2L only being available in the new F250. I assumed they were going to make you get the diesel in the F350 (which might be the end of Fords in our fleet if true) but maybe this "new" engine will be available in the F350. Is there a strategic move here for CAFE? or new fuel standards/GVW's ? -
'17 F-Series Super Duty- Lighter and Stronger

NVH is probably the reason. Those plastic lined oem's absorb a lot. With the HD Moog units, you can feel a cricket through the steering wheel when you run it over.... -

The oem's only last 40-50k on our SD trucks. The replacements are hd moogs and last till we get rid of them at 300k. Only takes a few pumps of grease every oil change. -

If they make our fleet buy a 250 to get a gas motor, without offering the same payload capacity as current 350, then i see Ram in our future, yuck. I hope there will be some clarification on this 6.2 in the f250 soon. -

I don't understand all of the love for Allison..... Back when we still had GM's in our fleet, they were crap. We ran them just like all the others, near max gvw (3500 SRW) and they never made it the life of the truck which for us is near 200,000. All had oiling/bearing issues. The Fords and even a 2009 Dodge were very good. Our 2006 international 2600, 33,000 gvw, with a 260hp d466, 6 speed Allison has been fixed twice, both bearing failures, with only 130,000 miles. The garage assured the boss that our problems are not unique. These issues led us to buy our F750 in a manual. A local hot shot hauler has 3 of his 4 trucks now 6.7, F550 combo's. His switch was due to trans issues in the GM. These are in some ridiculous GCVW's for this class truck. I understand this is new territory for Ford but I have as much, or more confidence in them vs the competition. I just don't see Allison as the "benchmark" anymore. -
See the quigley prototype youtube video above. In 2011 i had my e350 converted to 4x4. It was around $9k with manual transfercase, manual hubs and steel wheels.

I took a 10 passenger wagon for a ride, looking to upgrade my e350 in a year or so. It was a low roof, short wheelbase xlt. It is super nice and I would consider it a major upgrade from my e350. The dealer told me they cant keep the cargo units in stock. Their only complaint is the lack of winter tires available in its size, but I expect that to be short term with sales doing this good.

Thinking beyond 5 years here in the rust belt is not very common. The road treatments for ice have everything in bad condition. Our cutaway chevy utility van gets new trans cooler lines EVERY year. -
2016 Ford F-650-750 leaked on Ford.com?
MGolden replied to nruggiero's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
A fleet near me has all DODGE diesels, and 3 - F650/750 6.7/Allison trucks. They went for the common powertrain/engine fleet. The Allison is having durability issues and they are not happy. I think Ford was already ahead of Allison/GM in the F550- under class with the transmission, as far as durability. Lets see how they compete in the big trucks. -
Our company has a fleet of mostly gas superduties. The v10 is hard on gas but has been very reliable. The 6.2 is a very nice engine with the 6 speed auto. It is slightly better than the v10 on mpg's. It also has been reliable, though we just had our first go over 200k miles, where several v10's hit 300k. I guess my point is that I hope they keep developing good gas engines. There is no cost benefit for us to go to diesels. We keep the trucks for 200-300k miles, then they are complete rust buckets. The v10 and 6.2 are awesome engines. Btw, I recently bought a used f150 with a 6.2. It is an absolute blast to drive. -mjg

our company just bought a NEW 2011 f750 cc for $20k off the sticker price. not sure if it's news, but I just thought I would share what kind of deals are out there. -
FWIW, I talked to a rep from Guigley about the transit 4x4 option. He confirmed it will be IFS using their (Quigley's) components. He said the project has a few details to wrap up but they are pretty much ready to go. I didn't get any cost or other options out of him, he was pretty silent on the rest of the details. I am looking to replace my 2010 e350 Quigley in the near future which is what prompted the call. -Matt
