I disagree. Now that the GEN rules have been changed in the new contract, people can't count on sitting in GEN for ages, now they would be gambling with their career.

Ford is profitable in Europe. Gas is more expensive for the most part in Europe, therefore fuel prices are not a direct reason why Ford would not be profitable in North America. Foreign Car companys are profitable in the United States, when you fill up a Toyota do they charge you less for the gas? Toyota,Honda are profitable in North America, I am talking about the car lines that are actually built here, not the ones vehicles they import. I disagree with your reasoning that fuel prices are the only reason why sales are "falling". People are buying more cars in North America now then they did in 05, just not Ford vehicles. The amount of car sales has increased, not decreased since gas prices have increased.

Tell me how you are being screwed. Do you get payed more for the 4th of July when you use it December? So you can't convert a holiday into a personal day 1 time in the last 15 years, It's not a big deal. I'm pretty sure it is only because the 4th falls on a Friday.

In zone opportunities will be forced IF THE JOB ISN'T FILLED THROUGH POSTINGS The bitch is that they DIDN'T POST THE JOBS, they just ASSIGNED people. I am quite sure that there were people who wanted to return to Dearborn or Flat Rock but never even had the chance to because they never saw the posting....

We did call, and complain, and call, and complain. We even hired a Lawyer (70 of us pitched in to pay him)--god forbid I know-- The bottom line is that I received my papers to report to AAI on Monday Morning.

It is SUPPOSED to be able to happen, but for some reason it just doesn't. The 80 people from wixom who start at AAI on Monday and another 70 who start at Dearborn were all forced to go there. Ford was supposed to post the job openings there company-wide before they forced people to go but that did not happen, they just took the people from Wixom and said "You go here Monday" Good luck.

Thanx again for the info. Kinda looking forward to the Orientation on monday, picked up my last check from Wixom today, 15years..... took some pictures, kinda sad but oh well. Will be nice having something new, except for the crappy drive.

Thank you for all the helpful information. Don't forget that just because people have 1987 seniority that they will want to work on Day Shift. I knew hundreds of people at wixom who were pretty bent out of shape when we went to 1 shift because they like afternoons. The 6:54 start time at AAI is almost enough alone to entice me to give up days and work afternoons. Also, what is the story with downtime at AAI? I have heard that they are getting off about 1 week a month?

There are 75 of us from Wixom supposed to start at AAI on Monday. I was just wondering what the average seniority is at AAI and where we will fall in regards to this. Btw, the low man from Wixom coming to AAI will have about 1995 Seniority.

It was a sad day. As much as I hated walking in there day after day, especially the last few years, I was saddened on the last day of production there. GF Wixom.

Back before I was on a buildup job, when I had to hit the head or goto medical I would always let the group leader/utility man/fps leader know that however long he took in getting to my job to relieve me I would add to the time it took me to get back to the line while he was doing my job. I would only do this in cases where I turned my light on and watched him read the classifieds for 10 minutes before he decided to come see what I wanted.

Anyone with less then 15 years better hope they get placed before wixom closes and starts placing becaue the very bottom guy in the Wixom plant has 11 years. also, As of right now there is no work available for Tradesman who are laid off in Pipefitting and electritions. We have a few of them sitting in the GEN upstairs at Wixom right now.

There are VERY FEW employees at WIXOM with less the 10 years Seniority, I would say less then 50. It would be great if we got to go to the truck plant. (I have 14 yrs) But alas we have been told that the only way anyone is going anywhere is if they shut down the plant earlier. (we are still scheduled to run till 2nd quarter 07) By then some of the other plants will prolly have filled up the third shift at the truck Plant.
