  1. It was as good as new once they were done. What I ended up doing in the meantime was cutting a piece of cardboard the size of the opening and wrapped it with a plastic trash bag. Then I slid the moonroof open, placed it in the opening and closed the roof back on top of it. Sealed it with duct tape and it was completely waterproof. I drove that way for a week or so until the moonroof was at the shop and ready to be installed. It has been several years now so I don't remember if I took it to a glass shop or is they came out to replace it like they do with a windshield. The other work was done at a shop the specialized in auto interiors.

    2009 Job #2

Yeah, looks like about $595. I didn't realize it until after it was home in the garage but I bought a Job 1 so I was wondering what I had missed for the extra cash.
  3. I had the same thing happen with a 2001 Focus, except I had the moonroof closed and had glass all over the interior. Insurance paid for it but it was a real pain. I was told by the insurance company that the moonroof alone was $1500 because they rarely break so there are no after-market replacements available. They had to pull the headliner to get all of the glass out as you could hear it rolling around in there. Thank God for tempered glass so I had a bunch of round-ish little pieces instead of shards falling on me.

    2009 Job #2

Does anyone know what changes happened to the 2009 Edge with Job#2? The only thing I have been able to find online is the change to the Sync 2.0 firmware. Thanks.
  5. And the dealers are trying to figure out what to do with the cars they have now. When you could lease, a family could get a decent car for $300-$500 per month. The leases are coming up and they are finding that the same car will now cost $600 per month if they are willing to finance it for 5 or 6 years. The average family will have a real problem affording a family car these days and they, like me, will probably be looking for a used car when their lease runs out. Trust me, I know where the manufacturers are coming from but dealer lots full of unsold cars will not help the bottom line, either.
  6. I know you said I4 but was just wondering if you had driven the V-6 for comparison. I am also in the mid-Atlantic but it is hilly here and my wife is sometimes required to be at work when the weather is less that pleasant out. I can telecommute from home twice a week or whenever the weather is bad so my Fusion is FWD.
  7. Your insurance won't pay to replace the faulty sensor (or did you pay for the repairs out of pocket)?
  8. Did you drive an I4 and the V6? I will probably be looking at an AWD model in the late Spring or early summer and am curious if the 4 cylinder will be enough or if I will want the V6.
  9. A couple of questions to help understand what exactly happened with the dealer. Did the service department actually check out your vehicle and declare that all is as it should be? If so, do you have another dealer somewhere in the area that you could take it to and have their service department take a look at it? Also, I would see if there is another Escape you could check out to see if it is the same.
  10. On page 5 of this thread, you will find the 2009 Escape order guide that will show you everything that is new. The big difference for 2009 is the new 2.5 I4 engine, the 20% increase in horsepower for the V6 and the new 6 speed automatic transmissions for both engines, replacing the 4 speeds in the 2008 and previous models.
  11. As hard as it may be to walk away, that might be the thing to do. This does not sound like a dealer I would want to deal with. Walking away may be just the thing to call their bluff, too. If the scratch is as bad as you say, I can't see them taking that vehicle and putting it on the new car lot "as is". Who would buy a new vehicle with something like that? When I bought our Edge last year, there was a small tear in the leather on the passenger seat. I didn't see it, the dealer noticed it during prep and our salesman showed it to me and made arrangements for us to bring it back in as soon as the replacement seat cover arrived. That's how you get repeat business.
  12. Just wanted to say thank you for your tracking services. I took delivery this past week, just in time for some decent weather to open up the moonroof and enjoy the fresh air.
  13. Just in case you didn't see his post, and since your last bump was on April 30 you may not have, VP is on vacation this week. Just didn't want you waiting around for a reply that isn't coming any time soon.
  14. Bump so I don't slip to the second page
  15. I got my build week so I am good there. I will check back later for a sequence and/or blend date (and that all important .pdf file).
  16. Once an order is segmented, is it possible to find out what week it is segmented for? I am not asking you to find the week but wondering if it is something the dealer would know. My salesman is on vacation this week so I can't call and ask him. I appreciate this service you provide. My dad was an accountant for Ford for 35 years and he could do this for me before he retired.
  17. I find it amazing that people want automatic transmissions. To each their own.
  18. Makes me glad I went ahead and put in my order for an 08 SEL with a manual transmission instead of waiting for the 09's.
  19. It's included with the sport tuned suspension. I know from other research that is is the rear bar that is larger (which is what I assumed) but nothing I have found says how large. Not that it is a major thing but I was just curious.
  20. According to the Fusion brochure I am reading, a standard Fusion comes with a 24-mm stabilizer bar on the front suspension and a 16-mm bar on the read (17-mm with the V6). The description for the Sport Appearance Package lists a larger stabilizer bar as one of the included items. Does anyone know which one is larger and how large that might be? I searched the forum but could not find anything so I apologize if this has already been covered elsewhere.
