  1. Ok, with all the the people about to leave Ford, one way or another, does the UAW National Ford dept get cut in size also? If so, what happens to those people, do they collect unemployment from the UAW? Just one of those idle thoughts I had.
  2. Just curious, if I understand this, VanDyke just woke one morning and had the new COA in place without a vote, but the Rouge got to vote on it? Is that correct? If so, how did that happen anyway? It may have been a forgone conclusion the result, but at least you should have been able to get your 51-49 vote in.
  3. Just remember 51-49, that pretty well sums it all up. I hope they are enjoying their 3% raises that they gave themselves at the convention; you remember, the ones we voted to give up, 51-49.
  4. Theres that pesky 51-49 margin of victory again.......................
  5. Just my two cents, just picked up an 06 Freestyle and we love it! Got the extended warrenty since the CVT hasn't been in service very long, so I wasn't sure how it would hold up over the long run. No complaints at all so far. Handles nice, good gas mileage, would rather have this than a minivan any day.
  6. Will someone please show him the money.......................cut him the check soon.
  7. We gave up our raises, at the suggestion of our leadership (maybe we didn't really give them up at all 51-49, maybe they were given up for us) and they gave themselves a raise? Fifty million from the strike fund for operating expenses, and we get higher co-pays? Not that I mind all that much, doing my part, but c'mon boys at the top, at least pretend to be with the rest of us working stiffs
  8. Who thinks this is a good thing? :titanic: LAS VEGAS -- The UAW on Tuesday altered its constitution to allow $50 million to be moved from the union's $925 million strike fund to be used for operations. The amendments also permit the union's International Executive Board to allocate an additional $60 million from the strike fund to the general fund for organizing, education and other projects. The $60 million is the maximum that can be moved in the four years between constitutional conventions. Another change would allow additional funds from member dues to be kept at the union locals for organizing and education. About 2,000 union delegates and guests are meeting here at the 34th national convention to choose officers and adjust resources for crucial negotiations for a new master agreement with General Motors, Ford Motor Co. and the Chrysler group in the fall of 2007. Kevin Bollman, chairman of the union's constitution committee, said the amendments will give the union the flexibility it needs to meet challenges. Those challenges include a shrinking market share for the domestic automakers. Cash and cash equivalents in the union's operating funds declined to $64.6 million in 2005 from $68.6 million in 2004, according to a UAW operating statement. In response to concerns voiced by delegates that the transfers would shrink the strike fund on the eve of a possible walkout at Delphi Corp., UAW President Ron Gettelfinger said the fund is adequately funded to weather a 153-week stoppage at Delphi. The UAW says it will strike Delphi if the giant supplier uses the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to void its labor contracts. Delphi put its U.S. operations in Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Oct. 8. Those operations encompass 29 plants and 33,000 unionized workers, including 23,000 represented by the UAW. Delphi has asked the court to void its labor agreements. But the court has delayed further hearings on the request until August because of progress made on GM-funded buyouts and early retirements that could reduce Delphi's hourly work force to less than 10,000 by the end of the year. UAW spokesman Paul Krell said the strike fund will maintain a strong balance from continuing dues payments and investment income.
  9. Does anyone know where the report can be seen online?
  10. We would be the last people to find out anything about it, since we work there, but I haven't heard anything about the Mustang leaving AAI, I have heard persistant rumor that Mazda was pulling out of AAI. However that rumor has been going around for nearly two years now, just like the rumor that the Mustang's have already been run down the lines at Wixom. Just to make it clear, it's all RUMOR at this point, and as with regards to capacity, the production schedule is going down right now, not up, so we have the capacity, we need the orders. :blah:
  11. Ya, thats how it goes for my daughter at McDonalds, actually they tried to fire her for missing one day, even though she thought she had it covered with another employee. Since the other kid didn't come in to work, they wanted to fire her.
  12. Well it went something like this: It was some sort of "no fault" attendance policy, there would be no more one and two day doctor notes allowed, it didn't matter why you didn't come to work. The first four were "free", as in no discipline, on the fifth one the discipline started with the verbal warning, and working it's way through the stages, one day, three days etc. untill you were fired. The only time medical would have been excused is if you had started to collect from UniCare. If you had been disciplined up to one week off, your record would have been wiped clean, once you were past the two week mark, your record would stand. The First four would have fallen off after twelve months, but once you had reached the discipline it would hold for 18 months before it fell off. One of the big problems with it seemed to be that Ford would have discretion on who to discipline and who not to. Such as, if you were someone that comes to work regularly and got the flu and missed a few days, they could choose not to take any action at all. If your an employee that has a hard time coming to work and actually got sick, they may choose to hold it against you. I may be off on some of the details with this, but I think that was the gist of it. Rumor has it that they implemented this policy at Wayne assembly plant the week after we voted it down. They (UAW) have handed out some flyer to the employees at AAI taking suggestions on what we wanted to see in an attentance policy, and they were allegedly going to go over them and come up with something new.
  13. I was ok with what they proposed, but I come to work on a regular basis so I'm not one of the people that the union spends 80% of their time defending for not coming to work. What I'm curious about is why we voted on it, I was under the impression that the company could change attendance policy at will.
  14. The rumor mill is turning and burning about this right now thats for sure, everyone grabbing their crystal ball and trying to guess the future. The only thing I can add to this, that seems to be accurate is that the vendors that were working, or to do work on phase two have been told to stop working on whatever they were working on and to stand by, no timetable was given to them for the future. Best of luck to you that go back, I hope things work out great for you. For that matter, best of luck to all of us everywhere
  15. ""Bush suggested his sympathies are more with the workers than the corporations, saying his administration would focus on retraining laid-off employees. Hmmm, I hear they're having a hard time meeting armed forces recruiting goals, wonder if thats what he has in mind?
  16. Just fishing for some info/rumor? about whats going on at VanDyke these days. Hows the 6F coming along? I worked with some people from Livonia here at AAI, they were recalled and sent straight to GEN pool for eight months or so.
  17. I'm not sure if this is the same thing as body decking, but when I was still there, something similar happened then also. That would be just before the actual launch of the plant, DAP was still running at that time. No one came out then either until the next day.
  18. As far as I know, we will be getting off Sat morning at 3:24AM. So we can sleep away Christmas eve with our families
  19. Does anyone know of a site that show sales volumes for cars/trucks, not just Ford, but everyones. Year to date, year over year etc? Thanks
  20. Does anyone have the web site that lets us compare the different health care benifits, all I've managed to find is the one for salaried employees, thanks
