  1. I have no reason to "argue on his behalf", nor will I (or against him for that matter). The point is, even through all of the media speculation and all of us that participated on this forum in the way of speculation, no one was as accurate as the Wiz (with the exception of no mention of Windsor Casting). Granted, it was within 24 hours or so of the announcement, but I don't think it was luck nor was it coincidental. I don't buy it that he's trying to be a "big shot". Posting anything on this forum wouldn't qualify anyone of "big shot" status, unless maybe the reader were still in grade school and riding the short bus. :P Everyone needs to be emotionally and financially prepared for anything that can happen within or outside of Ford. I think that's what te Wiz has been saying all along, mostly on deaf ears. Be prepared! You want to take it to the next level, take Mary's advice and take a stand against the UAW. They're pretty much neutered at this point as far as being a viable power for us rather than for the corporations.
  2. Ok WIZ, when is this announcement for the "other two" assembly plants, other than "sometime this year", could you please narrow it down if possible? Thanks. B)
  3. If it doesn't go to Thailand, DTP might make the Ranger after it's redesigned. They're not about to move all that old, battered equipment out of TCAP to build the current Ranger for a year or two... I know that, you obviously missed my other post, about 2 after the one you responded to... What demand??? Ford is giving these things away! That is the future, have a larger variety, build less for more profits (ie: NO REBATES) = higher residual value. The days of multiple plants building only F-series are numbered. The same goes for the rest of the product line up. Isn't there a recently or soon to be closed Air Force Base in Texas??? With how many acres???
  4. MTP-north NAP-south ...and the rumor mill keeps cranking out the best... B)
  5. The sad truth to all of this is this new plant will most likely be another rouge and will cause more plants to close. When it's all said and done, I think we'll see the Rouge, KCAP w/expansion, KTP and this new facility. The rest (US and Canada) will be whacked eventually, with the exception of OAC. I really don't see Ford making it back to what it once was. It will be build to order and no more crazy rebates. I don't see Ford gaining any real maket share beyond what they currently have, nothing significant anyway. My 2 cents anyway...
  6. ...Don't forget who got cut to one shift...not Twin Cities...
  7. Exactly! Reforming the UAW is a more reachable goal than changing unions altogether...
  8. Like Fenton would allow that... Dream on...
  9. Well, Windsor Casting must have been tossed in at the last minute, eh Wiz? We're still wondering about the new plant. Keep your ear to the ground and let us know. Thanks. To all at the affected plants, I wish you well. To all the rest of us hanging in the balance with 2 plants yet to be named/whacked, good luck, we're going to need it...
  10. There is not one person in this thread that claims EVERYONE with a medical issue is a deadbeat. Read carefully! A person with medical restrictions is NOT a deadbeat. A person with medical restictions that started at one point and have continued for many years, IS a deadbeat in my opinion. Obviously, there ARE exceptions to this although they are rare. A person with medical restictions that change from job to job as the medical department finds these folks jobs, IS a deadbeat. These are very obvious...
  11. Um...sorry, but all Yokich did was a bunch of ad-hoc sabre rattling over GM's plans to whack 45,000 jobs. He and the rest of the International just sat and watched while GM had the whipsawing machine working overtime on the Locals that were labelled as "possible closings". Yokich was no better than the rest of the sellouts we've had since Fraser became a turncoat. Mr. Pull-my-finger is no different...
  12. That's because they're in on it. It's the same crap that happened to GM workers when it was anounced 3 weeks before Christmas that 45,000 jobs would get whacked. Solid house sat there and quietly watched as local presidents made stupid remarks about "giving up the farm to stay open" on national television. Here we go again...
  13. Yeah, that's the one. You always come through... B)
  14. Maybe so, but correct nonetheless... B) I don't know about a link at this time, but at one point the skilled trades test was deemed "racist" because a few "minorities" couldn't pass it. Apparently this turned into a class action lawsuit and it appears that they won. Although I'm not positive that this is what the thread is referring to or not.
  15. And booing at the hockey game is yS's fault? Good grief!
  16. I think it's awesome that you posted this thread for the spouses! I hope more will find this and reply. This is troubling times for us all in corporate America (and Canada), indeed. We definitely need to support each other whether your facility is marked or not. This mess is out of our control, but a kind word can go along way. Way to go MTPwife, way to go! I wish you and your "old man" well.
  17. Medical layoff may or may not be fraud aginst the states, I don't know for sure. If it is, then the union should be doing something about it. What a lot of the people are doing as far as abusing the system is FRAUD too, and that's what I'm sick of. Not that long ago, we've had two people fired for FMLA fraud that collected unemployment for 8 months only to get their jobs back. If that wasn't bad enough, these 2 got reinstated WITH their full restrictions that they had when they were fired. These particular 2 individuals also have been on restrictions of some sort for years, after only doing a real job for the 1st year of employment at Ford. This IS a crock! This is just ONE example of MANY cases in our plant and throughout the Ford system. This IS the reason for the company to take extremes and retaliate against everyone. Yes it is wrong, but we let it happen. Now we get to pay the price! There are a lot of people that have been legitimately injured on the job, have had restrictions, surguries and physical therapy, have recovered and gone back to a REAL job. That's how the system is supposed to work. I have personally been through this on a few occasions in the 18 years I've been working at Ford. I am still healthy and still a line worker on a REAL job. I have respect for and support those that have been hurt on the job. I'll be damned if I support someone that is purposely abusing the very system that was designed to HELP legitimately injured people. These are the jackasses that are making it miserable for US ALL. By the way, the "DEADBEATS" are the ones that are "SUCKING" their way to the "EASY JOBS" and screwing it up for our senior brothers and sisters. Wake up and smell what you're shovelling pal!
  18. So far, they are working on the career medicals. Those are the ones that are currently out. Several have been fired for fraud as well, but talk around the floor is that they'll get their jobs back. These are the ones out on comp and could not do anything. Low and behold, surveillance tapes show them busting theirs asses at home building garages, moving furniture, etc. Now we know why we get scrutinized and interrogated when we get hurt on the job. I know what you went through, I've had to myself and it is a joke. We can thank the frauds for this...
  19. Yes. something is going on here. Ford is getting rid of people, period. The bottom line is too many frauds have screwed it up for the rest of us once again and Ford is retaliating. Is this fair? Of course not. This is the reality of it. The union will give their blessing on this, wait and see. There are BIG changes coming in 2007. We have young frauds all over the place. Some of these people got restricted before their 90 days were up and Ford let it happen. Now we're all going to pay the price. You wake up pal, the writing has been on the wall for years. I don't like it either, but this is what it has come to.
  20. Atlanta is going to be a runway or an aircraft hangar.
  21. TCAP brought in more apprentices not that long ago and were just surveying senior tradespeople to take voluntary layoff for 89 days. They were looking for 8 volunteers. I know of 2 that went out.
